5 out of 5 eggsServed me well for 2.5 years

Pros: For the price it is a great motherboard.

Cons: The USB ports died on me after 2.5 years. I would say this is a good lifetime for a motherboard.

Manufacturer Response:

Sorry for the failure, but still thank you for the kind feedback!

1 out of 5 eggsBad support

Pros: It works if you know how to make it work (see Cons).

Cons: I have to power on and shutdown immediately, then power on again to make it work, otherwise I get blue screens within the first 5 minutes of the PC being on, 100% of the time.

Other Thoughts: I've owned other Biostar boards before, and had no problems. However, Biostar does not answer through eSupport. I had to initiate RMA process to get some vague feedback. I don't support companies who don't support their own customers, so this is the last Biostar product I'll ever buy.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Board for Low Price

Pros: Very inexpensive, does everything I need for my light gaming/video editing build.

DDR3 Memory!!

Handles bf bad company 2 well, on-board audio is great (HD) and it booted no problem first time. Haven't had any issues, and I am quite pleased.

Cons: No FIREWIRE. I didn't realize until after purchased, but I'm going to pick up a Firewire 1394a PCI card for like $15 bucks.

Only 2 ram slots.

Large video card pretty much takes up ALL pci slots.

Other Thoughts: This was my first build, and for a gaming PC, this motherboard was very important in the balance between performance/cost. I would definitely recommend if you're looking for a simple board that does the job.

Other specs:

AMD Phenom xii 555
Nvidia GeForce 9800gt 1gb
OCZ 4gb 1333 ddr3
Hitachi 500gb HD
BFG 450w power supply

This build including case (already had OS and optical drives) all for under $500

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Value Board

Pros: Excellent board for the price. Stable, does not seem to generate much heat. Dual monitors out of the box. What you need for a standard desktop config is all onboard.

Cons: Has not been in stock recently. Needs to be consistently available. Maybe more than 2 SATA cables?

Other Thoughts: We use this board for standard workstation builds here at a department for a major university for the past 3 months and have had no issues whatsoever. Paired with a AMD Athlon II X2 255 Regor 3.1GHz and 2 or 4GB DDR3 1333, these builds provide excellent performance for our standard users for a third of the price that the major OEMs with similiar specs have sold to our department beforehand. Hopefully these boards will prove as durable as they are practical and affordable.

5 out of 5 eggslean, but good

Pros: This is a simple board with a simple layout. Everything worked out of the box. I was able to unlock a dual core business class chip into a quad core chip by simply switching the acc funtion to auto. I've seen no issues with stability. In spite of the smaller size I was able to successfully install an aftermarket zalman heat sink without any problems. The on board videot (4250 I think) hooks up to my 32in 1080p tv with no problems. All the components are agreeable to gentoo linux. No issues with drivers.

Cons: None.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Value/Price Ratio.

Pros: I actually bought this board with low expectations, I've always ran with MSI and Asus, so naturally I was hesitant to change it up. The price was 55$ total and this being an AM3/DD3 board I simply couldn't pass it up. Firstly the newest version was sent, nothing but the color was changed, a pleasant surprise as the picture on Newegg looks like a bowl of fruity loops, the new color is a very attractive black/red. Everything ran beautifully out of the box, no settings had to be changed, which was is a first. The onboard video actually blew me away, 1080p videos were handled with zero hiccups. This is probably the best value to price ratio I've seen in a long time.

Cons: no dd3 1600.

Other Thoughts: buy it.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Budget Mobo

Pros: Great mobo for users who don't need all the bells and whistles.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: My computer kept freezing when installing Windows 7. The solution was to make sure nothing was plugged into the usb ports during install.
