Inexpensive doesn’t have to mean poor quality. Biostar's GeForce 6100 based Socket 939 motherboard is a great board for updating an older system that has room for more later. You can use either Sempron or Athlon 64 series processors. Up to 4GB of DDR 400 memory can be installed, matched sets can take advantage of dual-channel mode.
The GeForce 6100 NorthBridge has the GPU built in so there's no data transfer lag. It will share up to 256MB of system RAM giving it plenty of power for Vista. For even more video power there's a PCI-e x16 slot so you can add your own card. You also get a PCI-e x1 slot and 2 PCI slots for other add-on cards.
This is an exceedingly stable board which will provide a great basis for a workstation or VGA-based media center. Biostar has packed a lot into a mini-ATX system, and left room for customization when you're ready! At this price, it's a no-brainer!

Please Read Before Speaking
- Pros: Will you people who say you have a high understanding about PC hardware please stop and think before you trash a motherboard, it's obvious that you do not know all that much when you trash a perfectly good motherboard because you say it don't have a TV/out where if you read the specs you can see that the mobo does not offer this option, this goes for so many of you people who trash a motherboard that works just fine, but because you could not over clock it to the moon its now a pile of junk. This is not fair to someone who would like to think they can take a little stock in the feed back to determine if its really a good mobo or not.
- Cons: none
- Other Thoughts: Before rating a motherboard make sure you read what the specs are so you don't trash it for not having specification you want it to have.
And please be honest when rating your knowledge because many people would like to refer to these feedbacks, but its hard when someone who is unconsious incompetant does the rating.
So what's not to like?
- Pros: This is a very good Micro-ATX board! In fact it is a very good board period. If you want a feature loaded power board spend the $150+ that a good one costs. If you want a rock solid micro-atx with a very good array of features, then give this board a close look. This baby booted my sata drive system on the first try, with new CPU and memory. I installed this board in the Apevia micro-ATX XQPACK case (A great small & lightweight case) They fit together beautifully. Only about 2 hours assembly time.
It is presently left running constantly to check temps, and seems to be doing fine. Fast and responsive; and the sound and video are adequate.
- Cons: The only problem I have encountered is with installation of front board audio. that connector is covered with several two pin jacks, and the docs do not tell which ones to remove to connect the front audio connector. No big deal, I can work it out. Also, a front firewire connector would have been nice, but hey, how many times do I use the fw connector anyway.
- Other Thoughts: I have spent a lot of money on a lot of different boards that were not anywhere near as nice as this board. If it fits your system, and you are not trying to build a power graphics or gaming computer take a close look here. It is a lot of bang for the buck.

Good Motherboard, good price
- Pros: Purchased the motherboard as part of a combo package and it was well worth the price. SATA2, Socket 939 with X2 support, supports DDR 400, which allows to use memory from older boards, PCIe and onboard video always a plus.
- Cons: Wouls have given it 5 out of 5, but 2 of the USB ports on one of the boards I ordered did not waor. Also locked up when using a Kingston 512 MB USB Memory Stick. Booting to USB on this motherboard is difficult and does not usually work (I had no success with this).
- Other Thoughts: Great Motherboard for the money. Upgraded for cheap and with an X2 3800+ it runs great. 2 GB of dual channel and it runs like a champ and fast! Too bad about the USB ports on the back, but I use the front connections and they work fine for my purposes. I would not be attaching a bunch of USB devices anyway.
Great all-in-one motherboard
- Pros: I've built several systems with these all-in-one motherboards and they all are purring along nicely.
- Cons: Limited SATA connectors (only 2), floppy connector is far away from the typical bay location, requiring a long cable.
On-board video isn't good for gaming, but you can always add a better video card.
Limited PCI slots.
- Other Thoughts: This is a great board for system builders looking to minimize costs and yet provide a stable system.
Amazing Board-Reason for Awards
- Pros: Its also Pretty...
- Cons: None for Me
- Other Thoughts: Predictable, reliable, and most of all, the Nvidia Raid is a powerhouse.
Patriot Ram and either and X2 or single core Venice or Sandy makes this a real screeemer... Have bought 4 this month alone, with no disappointments.
