4 out of 5 eggsDecent board

Pros: Decent Price
Solid Board
Some people have complained of CPU P4 plug location, but I find it refreshing not to have it on the far side of the board as some PSUs have a touch time reaching it over video cards/etc

Cons: 8GB Ram Max [2 slots]
Required Bios Upgrade [see Other Thoughts]

Other Thoughts: Win7 x64 keep freezing at the 'sparklies' when attempting to install. Thought I had some bad ram, spent better half of day swapping ram in each slot and testing. All passed, after googling, found out BIOS upgrade could help. Sure enough after BIOS Upgrade install went fine. Losing a star for undocumented 'features.'

4 out of 5 eggsNot bad

Pros: Very inexpensive for the features. Great for a budget HTPC.

Cons: The CD does not have all the drivers I needed in order to get it working 100%. In order to get audio working and remove the last yellow question mark, I had to go to Biostar's website and get the latest audio and video drivers, and update the bios to the newest version. I also downloaded Intel's series 6 drivers based on the recommendation of a fellow reviewer here. After that audio worked great through HDMI and there is no longer a yellow question mark in the Device Manager.

Other Thoughts: Great for the money if you don't mind fiddling a little bit with drivers. Thanks to the other reviewers whose comments helped me get mine running.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat server board for Linux

Pros: Very inexpensive. I got the $196 bundle with CPU, 8 GB ram, Case. Works great with Ubuntu 11.04 I did not get a CDROM drive with it and installed from a thumb drive. A very good decision.

Cons: None that I have encountered yet.

Other Thoughts: At first it would not even get the BIOS screen and beeped 10 times at me then rebooted power. Turns out it does matter which memory slot you put the lone 8GB ram into!

4 out of 5 eggsminor annoyance

Pros: Solid caps on the VRC
B3 fix
I'm not certain if the server-like positioning of the RAM will make any difference, but at least theoretically it will increase airflow.

Cons: Not so good layout-
The 12v connector is south of the CPU
The CPU fan header is above the memory
I've tried 3 different ways to run the cables and still not satisfied.

Other Thoughts: I've had good luck with Biostar and I'm certain this very basic, entry-level board will be fine.

5 out of 5 eggsIts a motherboard

Pros: It's a motherboard got it with the same Cyberpower pc other guys had my 8800GT and 6850 worked fine on it.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: @john after I seen your troubles online did it ever cross your mind that the motherboard is deffective? I'm going to say it is or ur PCI a lot is blown my 8800GT works fine. You should call Cyberpowerpc they can RMA the mobo.

4 out of 5 eggsHow to get a discrete graphics card to work?

Pros: I own this mobo by way of buying a Cyberpower 1313 from Newegg. It has an i3 2100 cpu. My intention was to put in an 8800GT I had laying around, but before that I put in an XFX PRO650W psu to make sure I had enough power (the supplied psu was horrible).

Cons: I kept hearing that the new card would be "auto detected" and would basically install itself. The 8800GT didn't, a local computer shop declared it dead so I bought a PNY GTS450 from Newegg. Same result "no signal detected". How in heck do I get my computer to detect my card? It must be a Bios-related thing which is why I'm asking here.

Other Thoughts: Yes, I have the monitor cable hooked up to the card and yes I have a six pin power supply cord hooked up as well (the fan spins). I went into the Bios and went to: Advanced>Chipset>Initiate Graphics Adapter and it's set on PEG/PCi which is what I've read should detect my card before the Bios defaults to the Intel graphics. It's like the PCI-E slot doesn't work but it's "enabled" in the Bios. Help!

Manufacturer Response:

You may want to contact Biostar support for assistance, support@biostar-usa.com or call 626-581-1055 menu.

1 out of 5 eggsDefective

Pros: Cheap price, and easy installation

Cons: After making changes in bios, my desktop won't boot up properly. (All I get after a reboot is a plain black screen w/o any logo) It seems like if I wait about 10 mins, it boots again.. but later it won't boot again.

Manufacturer Response:

Sorry to hear of your troubles, please don't hesitate to contact our support staff for assistance. 626-581-1055 menu 2 or email support@biostar-usa.com. In bios there are many selectable features, by defaults should not have issues, but if you can is let us know what settings you changed in bios, that we can help to trouble shoot for you or it's a setting not recommended to use based on your hardware configuration. We need more details please.

5 out of 5 eggsGood budget mobo

Pros: Easy to install CPU, fans, and wiring.

Cons: No proper manual, only a small pamphlet with a diagram.

Other Thoughts: Getting the RAM in was a bit difficult. It required much more force than other motherboards I've installed.

3 out of 5 eggsNice motherboard, does not seem to work with my Disk controller card

Pros: Good motherboard with great features for a great price. Paired with an i5 2400 its smoking fast too.

Cons: I have an add in card Promise TX4 Sata 300 card to add 4 more sata ports as i use this pc as a server and randomly the card will not show in the bios or in windows after a reboot. I wrote to Biostar and never got a response. The card has been tested working in other systems, could be just a bad motherboard.

Other Thoughts: Using this to upgrade from an atom 330 running windows home server.

5 out of 5 eggsGood sandybridge MB, and inexpensive

Pros: Easy installation, well made MB, all the holes matched up perfectly, especially in the very tight HTPC case I used. I found the layout worked very well. The stock CPU fan fitted the board perfectly. Used for a HTPC, works really well, HDMI output looks great and very fast with a core i3 2100 processor and 4GB DDR3. Found that the built-in GPU is more than enough for Netflix & Hulu desktop streaming, and playing movies on XMBC or Windows MC. Also did not feel the need for an additional graphics card, the i3 GPU works perfectly.

Cons: Would not load either a GParted or Ubuntu 11.04 install disk directly. It gave a "no live file system found" error. From what I could figure out, Ubuntu is not able to find the correct SATA drivers for the motherboard and therefore hangs.

The only way I found to get around it was to load the iso onto a USB drive, and then it would boot perfectly.

Other Thoughts: A previous reviewer mentioned that XBMC does not work, it runs on my setup - Win7 32-bit perfectly.
