1 out of 5 eggsStay Away

Pros: Price

Cons: Board failed after 15 months. BIOStar has the worst tech support I have ever ran into. Was sent two used boards that also had problems. They try to wear you down so you will just go away

Other Thoughts: Been in the business 30+ years. And EVERY time I run across a BIOStar board that needs tech support. It's the same dog and pony show.

3 out of 5 eggsProblems after 18 months

Pros: Nice feature set.

Cons: Longevity is in question

Other Thoughts: After 18 months the PC would simply randomly lockup. I suspected a heat related issue, so we pulled the CPU & GPU coolers and new Artic 5 thermal past. No change. Seems to be associated with the USB ports in some way. This happened to a couple of P35 Gigabtye boards to me a couple years ago.

Unfortunately it is always difficult to troubleshoot an intermittent problem. I'll replace the board, as I'm 99% certain that is where the problem lies.

5 out of 5 eggsMore Memory = slower performance

Pros: Will handle up to 32 GB of memory, but not at 2133. I got 16 GB of memory running at 1867 Prime stable for over 20 hours. Timings are: 8-10-10-29-14-242-7-6-7-24

Cons: If Biostar would update there bios so timings would better match larger memory kits that would be very nice. RFC only goes up to 255 and the more memory you have the larger this number needs to be. I need 278 to run 16 GB at 2133 and WR only goes to 14 and I need 16/17.

Other Thoughts: 2500K i5 at 4200 stock voltages, could probably go higher at stock. Prime stable for 20 hrs, 50-52c highest temp. on air Turbo Tower Extreme room temp about 16c. This is not the best air cooler out there, there are does a very good job though.

3 out of 5 eggsLimited Ivy Bridge Support

Pros: Was great with a Sandy Bridge processor.

Solid overclocker.

Cons: Will need to flash bios with a Sandy Bridge processor first, before it will accept an Ivy Bridge.

CPU ratio will not go above 39 (turbo limit). So no overclocking with Ivy Bridge-K processors. I've contacted Biostar on multiple occasions inquiring if they intend on a fix for lack of overclock on Ivy, no replies.

Other Thoughts: Was a nice budget board a year ago or so.

3 out of 5 eggsWow...

Pros: This motherboard was cheap and is effective for the most part.

Cons: Didn't come ready for 22nm CPU as it stated on the box, had to order an older generation sandy bridge to flash the bios and use it. Not only that but I dont see any support for the IVB integrated 4000 graphics (not a big thing) or overclocking past 39 on IVB. If you want any of these features go z77.

Other Thoughts: Thanks for the board, and hopefully you'll have a more effective bios update next time. And try not slapping stickers on things after they've been on the shelve 12 months newegg, they may be outdated...

5 out of 5 eggsGreat mobo with little bit of upgrade potential

Pros: USB 3.0 Ports
Easy to use BIOS
BIOS Remote is cool
Decent amount of space between PCI-E slots
General layout worked well with cable management in my case
Great price for the features
Working great after 10 months in my daily rig

Cons: No USB 3.0 headers even though it supports USB 3.0
BIOS manual is pretty sparse on information. I've had to use google extensively to figure everything out.

Other Thoughts: I have installed this mobo in 2 different cases and nothing broke. Don't overlock but from what I've seen in the BIOS and the provided TOVERCLOCKER it looks user friendly. BIOS posted first try when I put everything together. Would definitely reccommend this board.

1 out of 5 eggsMajor problem with these boards!

Pros: Pros don't matter if the motherboard is unreliable.

Cons: I had two of these motherboards exhibit the same problem. I had the TZ68A+ and it was replaced by the TZ68K+ and both had the same problem. If the power is shut off suddenly the motherboard generates some kind of build up or short because it wont turn on again for an indefinite amount of time. Sometimes it only takes a few hours other times it took a couple days but suddenly after having no response the computer will power up again. After the second board did the same thing I bought a different manufacturer, we've had the power go out twice since I got the new board and I haven't had any problems.

Other Thoughts: The electrical problem with this motherboard is Im sure why the TZ68K+ quickly appeared to replace the A+ and why both are no longer available.

Manufacturer Response:

Sorry to hear of your troubles, based on your situation it may not be the motherboard that has issue, it's possible could be other reasons either one or more of your components are not compatible. If that is the case and you still have motherboard, we can help determine what item is not compatible and see if can find a fix. Please fill technical support form and see if we can get to the details. Thanks

1 out of 5 eggsTerrible Customer Service, faulty boards

Pros: Worked fine for about 2 weeks, OC'd easily.

Cons: Broke after two weeks. RMA took >2 weeks. They sent me back a faulty board. RMA again, took 2.5 weeks to finally get a refund (through Newegg, I never heard from Biostar again)

Just avoid, not worth the hassle at all.
