5 out of 5 eggsGreat Mini ITX board

Pros: Lots of USB ports for a mini ITX
Multiple integrated display output options
Supports Ivy Bridge out of box

Cons: Only 1 PCI express slot

Other Thoughts: Wasn't sure if the Celeron 1610 I was purchasing at the same time would work out of the box - Biostar's website indicated I needed to update the BIOS using a Sandy Bridge cpu - but no worries, it worked!

Using DVI output (from the Intel IGP), I would get a blank screen after resuming from sleep (windows 8 x64). I had to play with the BIOS settings for the integrated graphics to get this fixed (either enable multi-monitor or set IGP to first display on boot).

The BIOS has a lot of options and I haven't really run thru all of them yet. Not sure if it would be good for overclocking b/c I've no need for it. I did try to use Speedfan to reduce the case and CPU fan speeds - it appears that this board doesn't allow for that.

5 out of 5 eggsNice little board

Pros: Price
Simple Bios (but also a Con, if you like to tweak things)
Came with an 8gig memory offer.
Super small, makes for a great "shuttle" like rig
Supports Intel 3rd gen

Cons: no PCI 3.0
Simple Bios(very limited over clocking options)

Other Thoughts: Got this to build a shuttle like portable lan and media PC for the living room, posted on 1st try and seems to be stable at this point. I was a bit worried as the specs listing Intel Gen 2, but going to their web site they listed the Ivy Bridge 2120 I got on the cheep, when it came it had a big new sticker on the box, supports Gen 3 22nm cpus :-) Plus at the time newegg offered 8gigs of memory free, so for a budget build this worked out great, I only wish the bios had more options, but I expected with such a small board not to have many at this budget price. FYI with the 2120 + a GTX 650, it is making for a nice game rig at med to high settings on most games.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: looks good, fun poster of the motherboard, fits in the M350 Mini-ITX enclosure:

Cons: I get 4 beeps trying to post during power up. It shuts down and tries restarting after a couple seconds, always 4 beeps. Manual is very unhelpful. It describes what 3 beeps mean and what 5 beeps mean, but failed to include what 4 beeps mean. Googled it and it looks like it might be a BIOS issue with Intel's Ivy bridge. Will be contacting technical support today.

Other Thoughts: First time buyer of Biostar, though I don't build very many computers, so far somewhat mixed feelings.

Not too big of a deal, but the starters guide has incorrect diagram of the front panel headers. I think the full instruction manual has it right, I figured it out by trial and error, annoying. Although the big poster of the motherboard is kinda cool, I'd rather have boring correct diagrams than exciting incorrect diagrams.

Also, FYI if using with the M350 enclosure, note that the internal cables for the front panel USB reach the motherboard headers, but not the power LED or power switch. I had to hack some more wire to extend it, looks dirty but it works.

Excited to get this working for a small computer for the kitchen.

1 out of 5 eggsBought two, neither worked

Pros: None

Cons: Bought the first and it wouldn't even POST. NewEgg RMA'd and replaced it. Bench tested the 2nd board and it was the same as the first. Wouldn't POST. RMA'd again for a refund. Biostar suggested an RMA, no other advice.

3 out of 5 eggs3TB hard drive problems

Pros: Every feature I needed as long as I only used 2TB drives.
Nice compact MB for a small case.

Cons: Does not support 3TB drives even with UEFI BIOS

Other Thoughts: I am very disappointed that this MB does not appear to support 3TB drives. I bought it thinking it would. It was great as long as I had 2TB drives max in my UNRAID server. Attempting to add 3TB drives results in all sorts of problems. Even though UNRAID builds 3TB drives with a GPT table, the MB only recognized the drives as 2TB drives and gives write errors when attempting to access anything beyond 2 TB. If there is no BIOS update to fix this (and the latest BIOS says nothing about 3TB support or UEFI updates), I will have to get another ITX board (after 8 months of owning this one) that has proper 3TB support

To the prior poster, what is the Asrock ITX board that you used that supports 3TB drives?

3 out of 5 eggsNice board with flaws

Pros: Has more than enough SATA ports for a CarPC (I only have two drives)
Supports LGA1155 processors (better than Atom's!)
Solid capacitors (great for extreme environments)

Cons: The SATA system does not support 3tb drives, even after updating the BIOS. The first drive (WD EARS) gave me the usual 700gb issue commonly seen on older systems. Another 3tb drive showed the full 2.7tb, but had all sorts of issues and kept randomly dropping the drive.
I replaced the motherboard with a comparable ASROCK motherboard and all was well. Both the WD EARS and Hitachi 7200rpm 3tb drive worked flawlessly. I have no idea what the problem was. I've built hundreds of computers before and this was one of the weirder ones. I lack the patience to dig any deeper since the ASROCK worked just fine and I needed tunes in my car!

One other warning, the power connector is on the far side of the board, so depending on the location of your power supply, it might be a tough stretch.

Other Thoughts: Nice little ITX board for an upgrade to my CarPC. My old Atom based system wasn't cutting it anymore and this board had everything I needed except for wireless internet. But given how cheap USB wireless is these days, that's actually a benefit. If it weren't for the 3tb issue, I'd have used the board. My computer speed improved almost by a factor of 4. The rebuild time on my 56,000 track music collection shrank from 89min to 29min and is now hard drive limited, not CPU limited. Also, with a nice low power 35 watt cpu, you can make a killer CarPC in less than 2.75" of height (under seat).

1 out of 5 eggsNIC is Faulty

Pros: It's a nice little MoBo and most features work....

Cons: .... Except the NIC on it barely works. The thing will get a good strong connection then taper down to nothing. It's like it's getting lazy and doesn't want to do it till it falls asleep. Played with all the driver settings and turned off all power save settings. Updated the BIOS and it still doesn't work. I can't blame the router or Ethernet cord because they work great for other computers. The highest transfer rates I've gotten on it are 1.5mbs out of 30mbs service. Doing a ping test to googles DNS and slowly watching the the reply time increase. Nothing I have done has worked to get this to get this work properly.

Other Thoughts: Biostar refused to respond to my message so hopefully by giving them 1 egg I'll get a response here.
