5 out of 5 eggsStill Working Great

Pros: Purchased first of three TA990FXE Ver. 5.x on 06/06/12. Ordered next (2) two weeks later. Sold one to a buddy. All 3 MB still running great. Both boards running 16GB Ram, one board is running (2) XFX 6950 GC in CF. The other is running (2) Sapphire 6970 GC in CF. They run Boinc 24/7 @ 100% CPU usage @ 51C during the day with no problems. I have been using Biostar MB since the 770 A2+ Quad Core MB. For me they just work. I am NOT an overclocker just needing something modern to run the program I use Win7, Photoshop CS6, Lightroom, Games.

Cons: None. Lacks fan controllers (3) so I installed one in the Front Panel (4)Still using Zalman CNPS9700 @ Ball CPU Coolers on both of my CPU's. Running AMD 8150 on one computer and AMD 8350 on the other. Will soon update to 32GB Memory and SSD for OS. Biostar for Life. Still have money in the bank.

Other Thoughts: Runs (2) Video Cards in Crossfire with ease. Drivers no longer an issue. Thought about water cooling but just can't see water inside my full size tower. Do not believe the temps will go that much lower for the cost of the upgrade and always wondering when I'll spring a leak.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Easy installation, both in case and of other components to it.

Cons: Placement of the mini PCI slot makes one need to use the lower PCI express slot for a video card.

3 out of 5 eggsHere and There

Pros: It never had any problems to begin with! I was bootin into windows before the monitor turned on initially.

Cons: I have lots of problems lately. BIOS is the only way to fix most of em. Random crashes and a utter lack of drivers and tech support have made owning this board a hassle of late.

Other Thoughts: still chewed up skyrim in its hayday

4 out of 5 eggsI would buy another...

Pros: 990FX AM3+
140W CPU Support
Dual 16x PCI-E
CFX/SLi support
USB 3.0 header
GBit Lan
Up to 32GB RAM
Power/Reset/Debug on board

Like the Red, White, & Black color scheme. Trumps any 970 board for sure, and was at one point the cheapest 990FX mobo available.

Cons: Only supports up to FX 8350
16x slots too close together
only three fan headers
-one "smart" CPU fan header
-one adjustable (only with SpeedFan) header
-one non-adjustable header

The fan headers are annoying and poorly placed. And there should be five instead of three. And they should ALL be adjustable, and/or have some kind of smart control on them.

Other Thoughts: Mine ate it's own BIOS chip once, but I suspect the chip was faulty. BIOSTAR sent a replacement chip (it failed within warranty), and the board booted straight away and hasn't had a problem since.

Not the best laid out board, and some professional reviews show it to be marginally slower than other 990FX boards in benchmarks. Bottom line, unless you are benchmarking hard or extreme overclocking, this board should do everything you need it to.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent Board

Pros: I have had no issues with this and have happily OC'ed my FX8350 and my RAM to 1866.

Cons: Like others have mentioned, I have had a weird static interference noise. Its especially noticeable when using headphones.

Other Thoughts: For the price I paid, I feel like I've got a decent value. I will be upgrading to a new board soon, and its very doubtful it'll be one from Biostar.

5 out of 5 eggsFX-8350 4.6Ghz 01/22/2014

Pros: Update - currently running my 8350 @ 4.6Ghz stable, tested with Furmark and IBT ran concurrent. 32G of 1866DDR3 @ 1600. 1866 is only supported with two of the four DDR slots used. G.Skills Model F3-1866C10D-16GAB. Corsair H80, refurb which appeared new. KINGWIN LZP-750 750W. Win 8, not wanting 8.1 due to some issue's. I also run ArmA 3 from a 16G Radeon RAMDisk, which runs real smooth. Plextor M5P Xtreme Series PX-256M5Pro, Seagate Momentus XT 750 and bulk archive on a Seagate Barracuda ST31000524AS.

Cons: Somethings are not documented, but have to be learned/discovered.
No 64G DDR support.

Other Thoughts: Wish Biostar would update the BIOS to support 64G of DDR. At 4.6Ghz, do I need a FX-9xxx..? No, I'm very well pleased with my products from this one vendor.
Some may say go with a RAID, but the IOPS of a RAMDisk is PHENOM ! My system has just grown and evolved over time. It was first "lofted" with ArmA 3 in mind which wasn't even released in Alpha yet. I do transcoding also, but I can run two virtual machines to host some "services". But it's also a learning platform.
