4 out of 5 eggsSolid board, clunky BIOS

Pros: Worked. Sorry to hear DOA problems from others, but mine booted the OS and all just fine. My whole thing was to run a big CPU overclock, and yes, I got my FX-6300 to 4.4 Ghz @ ~1.5V (thank you beast cooler). North bridge stably clocked to 2.4 Ghz without a hitch, even though it doesn't matter too much.

Cons: BIOS program is a bit iffy. Lack of precise control for voltage and clock speeds... I could not get a successful boot unless my overvolt was a multiple of 0.05 (stock 1.2625, volt to 1.3125, 1.3625, 1.4125, etc). Also, you have to find a precise balance between changing the actual voltage number (e.g. 1.3625V) and changing the voltage boost (e.g. +0.150V). They are additive; I'm not sure what the root of the problems are with interchanging them, but whatever. I suppose I got it figured out in the end. My point is, BIOS configuring and overclocking will lead you with more CMOS-clearing adventures than most BIOS setups will.

Other Thoughts: My attempt at RAM overclock crashed and burned. Not sure if it was the board's fault, so I'll leave it in "other thoughts." Whether I was trying to lower the latencies or get it up to 1866, I got no-boots and blue-screens left and right. I gave up eventually, I didn't really need a RAM overclock anyway lol. Overall I'd say I'm satisfied.

1 out of 5 eggsFollow up to my review on 3/8/13

Pros: Keeps papers on my desk from flying around.

Cons: RMA'd it to Biostar and they sent the same board back. They did tell me it had the latest bios on it which I knew cause duh I updated it. Reinstalled it in the case and sure enough was a waste of my time still would not load an operating system. So I borrowed a board from a friend and yep you guessed it Windows loaded first try. I bought another board for this build. Biostar's customer service is the worst I have ever seen from any business ever.

Other Thoughts: Buy any big name brand unless you need a nice red white and black paper weight. Then I can recommend Biostar.

4 out of 5 eggsAudio Problem

Pros: Great board with many features.

Cons: Has loud radio interference.

Other Thoughts: Disabled on board sound and put in PCI sound card. Same noise. Bought extended warranty from Service Net but that does not kick in until mfg warranty expires. Hopefully Biostar will exchange without hassle.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Board so far

Pros: It works, no horror story here yet. Overclocks easily.

Cons: Nit picky at best but here goes... 1. red internal LEDs 2. Had to set RAM in BIOS to proper speed, 1866 RAM was being clocked at 1333 initially.

Other Thoughts: Had this board for 3 months and no issues. Hadn't built a PC in about 12 years, everything went smoothly though. Would recommend this board.

1 out of 5 eggsThankfully it's Discontinued.

Pros: Brand that I have bought many motherboards from.

Cons: Windows crashed after install and wouldn't boot. Updated BIOS and it fixed that. System super slow with random freezes. Network card dies after using for awhile. Updated all drivers for motherboard. Network card still doesn't support 1gbit network speed as advertised. Installing Office 2010 took 1.5 hours. Swapped out memory, processor, power supply, video card, hard drive cable, and hard drive. Set all Bios settings to default. Nothing works to fix this slow computer. Hard drive light glows and glows just to do simple tasks. Windows explorer constantly washed out with a (not responding) in the window title.

The computer actually ran faster when I first installed windows and didn't install any of the drivers for this motherboard but if I don't install the drivers, most of the features on this motherboard are not automatically detected by windows 7.

Other Thoughts: I manage over a hundred computers and I didn't get around to installing and testing this junk until one day past the return policy date. Oh well, to the junk pile it goes. Thankfully newegg quit stocking this nightmare.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat board

Pros: No problems with anything on this board. worked great out of the box with my old phenom and popped a 8350 in with zero issues, as was the same for my memory. Temp readout feature is kind of nice.

Cons: wish it were blue to match my fans..... don't like red L.E.D.s

Other Thoughts: Biostar 990FXE
16 gb (4x4) Gskills sniper 1600
60gb Crucial Boot SSD
Corsair GS800 PSU
550Ti
Cooler master GeminII on top of my FX 8350

5 out of 5 eggsgreat board

Pros: blue ray audio, pci express x16 x2, optical audio out, boots up with no problems with 3 different brands of memory

Cons: only 5 sata ports, would like to have at least 6,

Other Thoughts: this board with phenom II 965 and a 7200rpm seagate is just a little slower than my sabertooth with a 8150 and a vertex 3

5 out of 5 eggsupdate

Pros: i bought this board here in Feb, it has held up great, with no problems others seem to be having, the onboard sound works fine and booting with a intel cherryville 520 SSD is not a problem and worked great from the start. using 16 gigs ( 4x4) corsair mem.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: while the 990FX chipset is getting long in the tooth i would and have recomended this board .
