5 out of 5 eggs*Minor Correction to my previous 5 egg review. :)

Pros: Same as my previous review -- Good all around.

Cons: Socket LGA 1155 is dead.

Other Thoughts: Not sure how I did not notice this, but the board DOES allow you to access a boot selection menu!

It's the F9 key for "BBS Popup."

"Fail" on my part!

Cheers!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat!

Pros: First new board since a Socket AM2 back in '07! I really like the compact size -- It fit well on my desk while installing the CPU and RAM. It also has a PCI slot -- I know PCI is on the way out, but it was useful for putting a FireWire card will still leaving the other PCI Express X1 slot free for a newer device.

I actually have this in an old ATX case, so there is a lot of room for such a compact board.

I am running an old Core i3 2100 in it with 8GB of Gskill ECO DDR-3 1333 memory. I intentionally purchased only components that were listed as supported on the manufacturer's website, but obviously other sites will give more information as to what will work!

I plan to pop out the i3 and upgrade it to an i7 3770. -- I figure this should last me for a few more years, until whatever replaces the current Haswell chips comes out!

Cons: Like all small boards, be careful not to apply too much pressure during installation! Also -- Perhaps this is just the Socket 1155 type -- But the CPU lever is a bit of a pain to lock back in place. I was concerned that I might break it, but after a few careful tries, things were okay.

Also, getting this particular board to boot from a USB flash drive is not as simple as it should be. For instance, you can't just use an F12 boot menu. You have to go into the BIOS -- with the flash disk running -- and treat it as a hard drive, if I remember correctly.

Frankly, I would just install Windows from the DVD.

Other Thoughts: First time I have purchased a Biostar board.

4 out of 5 eggsGood replacement MB for office or home

Pros: Micro-ATX so you can use a smaller box but sill 4 memory slots.
Old LPT1: parallel printer interface and old serial COM1: interface just in case you need them.
Seem reliable, have installed 6 with no troubles.

Cons: The headers for the internal LPT1: & COM1: are not included.
Also the front edge of the board extend out past the last row of mounting studs on my various cases.

Other Thoughts: To keep system cost down, suggest using a G2030.
Although I have used i3-3225's and a i3-3240, the performance difference is not significant for office use.

1 out of 5 eggsPoor Product

Pros: Cheap

Cons: Broke after three months, I had trouble getting the computer to turn on. This persisteted for months, even after replacing the power supply (what we believed the be the problem at the time). For some reason it kind of stopped having problems for a while. Now it's back and once I get it turned on it has a unique problem of not shutting down... Now all but two usbs have stopped working once I got it back on again.

1 out of 5 eggsnot long lasting

Pros: The bios is very flexible with change affecting boot up time. Also great fan control and has 3 fan ports on the board and a ton of usb.

Cons: Bios started acting up 3 months in with a boot log in prompt and random reboots on post. Board did not throw a single beep code error until it died. My board stop showing video and gave error about missing CMOS flash. Trouble shoot for 2 day because the beep codes only came up once before death

5 out of 5 eggsGood motherboard, few quirks.

Pros: -Got it for a good price, forty five dollars.
-Worked out of the box with my rather old pentium
-lots of usbs, just enough infact.
-USB 3.0!

Cons: -Have to tweak settings to be able to boot from USB
-Sometimes fails to boot and hangs on the splash screen (not sure why, but restarting fixes every time)

4 out of 5 eggsGood Value

Pros: Works
Cheap
4 Memory Slots

Cons: The BIOS is... bizarre. But it works well enough.

If I had it all to do again I'd look for a Q77 chipset motherboard. At this price point there are a few of them to be had and I think they're a better option.

Other Thoughts: I wanted a mobo on the cheap to throw together a PC from some spare parts into an actually somewhat respectable moderate gaming rig for my wife, this motherboard filled the need quite well.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Replacement Board

Pros: Good speed and stability for the price. This board replaced a failed motherboard in an Asus PC that was out of warranty. Runs I7 processor just fine. Easy to install and configure. No drama. Works fine with SSD.

Cons: Can't get HDMI sound from motherboard with video card installed. I may have made an error in BIOS settings.

Other Thoughts: Another good Biostar experience. I have been pleased with their performance and price.

5 out of 5 eggsThe best motherboard for budget.

Pros: Had this motherboard since it came out.
Still runs like a champ :)

Its compatible with pretty much everything.

Cons: CPU socket, the pin-lever is very hard to pull down.
Don't worry You won't break it...

Other Thoughts: Because it is a cheap motherboard, its strength at the sata ports are not perfect, they wiggle a little, But don't worry It won't change the Quality of the connection, and it doesn't mean its all that easy to break either. Its just cheap un-perfect plastic size-ing .

You cannot overclock cpu's, such as the
i3-xxxx K or the i5-2500K or the i5-3570k
a cpu with a K - means its unlocked and ready for overclock.

Your motherboard will also need to be unlocked.
and this one is not. This motherboard is meant to be the best and a very cheap budget board.

To enter Bios its the Delete button
I went to the cpu section, and disabled Speed-step and cpue1 or w/e its called.

That way it doesn't under-clock itself based on temps, and whats running on the pc.

Thats the best overclocking you can do.
