3 out of 5 eggsOk Budget board

Pros: Supports FX processors, nice price`

Cons: Only issue I have is that it does not support S3. Which means, your fans will still run when your computer goes to standby mode (S1). Its funny because the BIOS shows S3 as an option.

Best bet is to allow your computer to Hibernate (windows).

Official response from Biostar:
Sorry, Biostar motherboards that are version 7.x or 8.x are cost down motherboards to compete in a competitive price market, S3 is one function removed to be price competitive which is not only bios but hardware component as well.

Biostar motherboards that are version 1.x to 6.x does support S3.

1 out of 5 eggsBad board

Pros: Cheap..?

Cons: -Only one fan header
-USB headers are in a terrible spot if you want to use anything in the PCIe slot
-Can't sleep, fans still spin
-Can't use a dedicated graphics card unless you disable the onboard chipset on the southbridge
-BIOS plain and simple SUCKs, feels like its ten years old
-Lots of BSOD's

Other Thoughts: Buy a different board

1 out of 5 eggsNow what I expected.

Pros: Cheap... maybe too cheap.

Cons: Looks like more of a board than it is. When I was shopping for my next mother board I had a few things I was looking for. I wanted on-board video as well as the 9-series chip set. When I saw this board I thought I had found that. The fact that it says 960 in the name of the board. It was also the right price. I did look at what chips it could use and the FX series was there as well.

After I got the board though I found out that it may not work with the new FX series chips because they actually require a 9 series chip set. The board worked with all the FX chips that existed when it came out but since then new FX chips have come out that it does not support.

It is hard to say that it is the boards fault or Biostar's fault but I am writing this so that they can see why people hate this board. I would be I am not the only one who purchased to quickly thinking that it would work with all the FX chips.

Other Thoughts: When I was doing my searches this was one of only two boards that came up. There don't seem to be any 9series boards with on board video.

I know that most gamers are the ones buying super fast chips and they like video cards but I want to put this in a small local server capacity and I just wanted a fast chip set and processor so that it doesn't get bogged down. Video quality is a secondary consideration and I wish there was something out there like what I am looking for.

Manufacturer Response:

A960G+ is a entry entry level model using AMD's A760G chipset. This model can support FX processors, so far no problems with current model FX processors. If a new FX processor comes out in the future, generally a bios update would either fix the issue or the CPU microcode is similar and no change is needed. But this would depend on AMD's design and requirements for a change between both parties. Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact Biostar support at 626-581-1055 menu 2 or email support@biostar-usa.com

1 out of 5 eggsReview #3

Pros: Works?

Cons: Wont sleep, the fans still spin etc. This board should be recalled due to the lack of Cool N' Quite that its advertised to have (which it doesn't). And because of the malfunctioning features that it does have. I was going to buy a A880GZ to replace this board. But they jacked the prices back up on that board (which also has problems, just check the reviews). I'm starting to think Biostar take their business very lightly.

Other Thoughts: RMA'd it for a refund, guess ill have to wait until the A880GZ goes on sale again in the next few months. This is utter bullpoopy...

2 out of 5 eggsWon't sleep - returned

Pros: Good price, easy install, basically works fine. Didn't experience any flimsy parts like others report.

Cons: No matter what I do to it, it simply will NOT SLEEP. It's not a matter of a program keeping it awake. When you hit sleep, the monitor goes off, and the fan on my video card cranks up to max like it does before windows loads on startup. Had similar issue on my old Biostar board, but could fix by tweaking BIOS. No amount of driver updates or BIOS tweaks could do it, and Biostar has no phone or chat support. I don't feel like trading emails for a week to try to fix this, so... returned.

Other Thoughts: It's not a bad MB if you are the kind of person who likes to burn needless fossil fuels and prematurely wear out you hardware by leaving your PC turned on 24/7. It's also not a bad board if you're very, very patient and want to boot up your PC whenever you need it, and shut it down when you don't. Oh well. I like Biostar and I wanted this to be good.

Manufacturer Response:

Biostar does have phone support, 626-581-1055 menu 2. Office hours are Monday - Friday 9 am to 5:30 pm pacific time.

Pros: Works.

Cons: No SATA 6GB
No ACC Via SB710

Just a terrible board...

Other Thoughts: I retract my last review.

Manufacturer Response:

Sorry to hear that this model does not carry features you wanted. We do have one model A880GZ that can support those features.

2 out of 5 eggsTerrible

Pros: Cheap

Cons: Freezes randomly
Sometimes doesn't pass POST
Some USB ports don't work
Average Graphics Card covers two SATA ports

Other Thoughts: I hope that this board was defective and this isn't a normal thing, processing my RMA right now

4 out of 5 eggsOk Board, Works.

Pros: AM3+ Socket
Should Handle FX-4100/FX-6100
760G Chipset
1600MHz DDR3
Small Form Factor Board (8.86" x 7.17")

Cons: The bottom 3-pin fan connector on the motherboard does not support Cool N' Quite. Which is a huge disappointment as that should be standard. So if you want to run a case fan off that header, you will need to buy a controller such as the Fan Mate 2.

Weak PCB, not really a can but this motherboard is flimsy. So be careful when you plug in your 24 pin power connector that you don't crack it.

MAJOR CON! This board has a SB710 chipset. Which means the board itself does support ACC. Biostar was too cheap to have a bios option to enable it. Thus I wasn't able to unlock my Athlon II x3 450 like I expected. It never said it supported ACC so I can't really dock an egg because of it. Tho it would of been nice.

Other Thoughts: This is the same exact board as the A780L3B, just with an updated AM3+ socket.
