5 out of 5 eggsGreat Motherboard for the Price

Pros: I built an HTPC with this computer and it works really well. If you plan on gaming with this board don't get it the CPU isn't strong enough to run games. The CPU however does support OSX 10.9 so you can use this board as hackintosh machine. I have both Mac OSX and Windows on the PC I built it.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsGreat HTPC System

Pros: Great little board and system. I leave it on 24/7, and don't have any issues. This is our primary media center system, and it works great. I use Media Center (with Media Browser) and don't have one complaint. I added an AverMedia HDTV Tuner (ATSC) dual tuner card, and I don't have any hiccups watching 1080p live TV. My setup has 8GBs memory and no after market video card. I also stream 1080p MKV files and VOB files over my network, and have no issues.

Great little system at a great price, and I highly recommend this as a cost effective HTPC.

Cons: No USB 3.0

5 out of 5 eggsAlmost perfect for HTPC

Pros: - Reliable; powered on for 6 straight months now with no hiccups.
- Low power
- Decent CPU
- OK GPU

Cons: On-board graphics don't quite cut it for streaming live 1080i TV

Other Thoughts: I decided to see how this board would do in an HTPC setup. Much to my surprise....it's wonderful! The CPU is plenty to run Windows Media Center. You will; however, want to invest in a dedicated graphics card as the integrated Intel HD Graphics simply couldn't hack it for streaming live HD TV channels from my HD HomeRun Prime. Now that I have a dedicated graphics card installed, I have an ample performing, low power DVR!

My HTPC:
BIOSTAR NM70I-847
Antec ISK 300-150
Radeon HD6450
8GB RAM
60GB SSD
1TB HDD

5 out of 5 eggsC6 :(

Pros: It is a mini-itx board, fan isn't too loud, it works.

Cons: running with relatively recent linux kernels causes it to reboot from time to time. On the ubuntu forums, MadOCer found a workaround by adding i915.i915_enable_rc6=0 to the kernel parameters preventing the cpu from going into a lower C-state. This fix appears to be working.

5 out of 5 eggsFast Little #

Pros: Inexpensive
Fast -see other thoughts
Decent features

Cons: 1.1ghz frequency means home server 2011 won't install, even though this chip is fast enough to handle it.
Intel onboard video isn't perfect, but still does most stuff okay.

Other Thoughts: I'm an AMD fan, mostly, -bias alert- but experimenting with this little number has me looking harder at Intel rigs.
Tech specs aside, this is roughly as fast on Win 7 as an Athlon X2 4400+, even though it's exactly half the actual cpu frequency. RAM speed may play a small factor here, but the only significant hardware difference is cpu architecture. I knew Intel had an edge in this area, but never considered it worth the expense to buy a rig until now. Glad to see they have an affordable option with decent performance.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat deal.

Pros: Low price. I bought mine at ~$90. Great performance with no problems in an old atx mini tower. I had an old amd k62 system that I gutted. This motherboard, 4gb of ram, and a 1TB WD Black sata 6.0 hard drive make for a nice little system. It is kind of a spare and I haven't done more than install xp, office, and some stenography software for the woman so she can use it as a work backup. She's very happen with it.

This is the best spare I have setup in years. Very happy with it. Not sure what I am going to do with all these IDE hard drives when I setup the next one.

Cons: no usb 3.0. That seams to be a trade off with the number of SATA ports in this factor/price range. I chose the greater SATA options over the latest USB.
Not upgradable. Another trade off for the trouble of putting on a processor. Worth the tradeoff to me. I hate messing with processors anyway.

Other Thoughts: Thinking of buying another one. I have an older Ubuntu file server with a single core k62 proc. It is pretty much a file server and test machine/web server just like the last one. I would like to swap out for this as a twin to the last one.
No install problems at all. I tried a live usb with fedora while I was waiting on my new HD. It booted and did as linux should.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Does what I need it to.

Cons: Random reboots

Other Thoughts: I used this to build an Unraid box. After I upgraded to Unraid 5.0-rc16c, I started getting random reboots at least once a day. Seeing reports from people who had similar reboot problems and who traced the problem to the lowest sleep state, I disabled both rc6 settings in the BIOS. It's been over a week now and I haven't had a reboot.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat little board.

Pros: Small, fast and cheap. What more do you need? Works great as an HTPC main board.

Cons: None!

Other Thoughts: This is a fantastic little board/CPU combo. I was hesitant to buy it at first, as I've never owned anything by Biostar and they don't always have the best reviews. Plus, I wasn't sure if the board/CPU could run HD MKVs and the like.

I'm pleased to say it runs great and has readily handled everything I've thrown at it, using the onboard graphics and sound. Paired it with a 275W PSU, 8G of RAM & Windows 7 64 bit and it runs like a champ. I use it off and on several days per week and it hasn't given me any issues.
