2 out of 5 eggsWorks but doesn't

Pros: Compact board

Cons: So I ordered this in a bundle 2 years ago I am just now reviewing it because I just got the time to build this pc.

Well I found out that the board has a dead Ethernet port and the two usb ports on the back that are connected to the Ethernet port are also dead. I haven't tried contacting costumer support but I figure by now all the warranty I did have is gone. It might be a fluke thing and just a bad board but I'm gonna stick with brands I know.

Biostar seems to be a great company although I can't speak to highly myself. I took a chance and i got burnt I only wish I would have checked the board sooner so my fault.

Other Thoughts: The mother board works everything except the Ethernet / usb ports on the rear of the pc. If I woulda had more time before I would have found this out sooner but thats what happens when you work 2 jobs working 65 hours a week haha. I wouldn't recomend this board but perhaps another of their products would be better suited for a compact build.

Manufacturer Response:

Sorry to hear of your troubles. This item should still be under warranty, please contact Biostar rma services by filling the RMA form below.

1 out of 5 eggsDead after a month

Pros: Small form factor.

Cons: Unfortunately this board died within a month in my HTPC build. I had coupled this board with one 8GB RAM slot filled and an AMD A10-5800K Quad core chip. I noticed that the video started to have lines display and flicker after about a month of use, then it just wouldn't post. Nothing I could do would get a BIOS screen. I'd suggest that you avoid this product and look elsewhere or your HTPC build. Pretty bummed.

Manufacturer Response:

Sorry to hear of troubles, you may want to contact Biostar technical support for assistance. or call 626-581-1055 menu 2
Based on your symptom reported issue, we would recommend that you test or try different APU/CPU first if possible to find out if your processor has a problem. Or you can start RMA/warranty process with Biostar for the motherboard and we can help to look into the issue for you.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic board

Pros: Used for a server currently, planning on switching it over to build an HTPC at some point. Lots of connections, looks good, supports all the modern bells and whistles with internal UBS3.0 connections and an HDMI out.

In it's current application powering my plex server, it's flawless. Runs 24/7 without a single issue. BIOS is excellent. Sips power when not in use, and efficient when active.

Cons: I wish it had more fan headers, but when it goes into the HTPC build I don't expect I would want any more fans than it supports (for noise reasons).

Other Thoughts: I haven't really gotten to use the audio features yet, but from what I hear it sounds really good and I'm looking forward to using it in the environment it was meant for: next to my A/V receiver!

5 out of 5 eggsStill going strong

Pros: Solid, not flakey or unstable. Does everything I ask, every time. Recognizes and boots to all sorts of drives and operating systems. No problems with UEFI wierdness - change the settings and they are respected. Good performance, one of the best values I've ever bought.

Cons: Small number of USB3 ports, only two. Not a con, per se as I knew it when I bought it. I can add a powered hub or an internal card if I someday decide that more are necessary.

Other Thoughts: This board has been a trooper. It's had all sorts of suspect equipment hooked up to it for testing, from optical drives to SSD's to PSU's. It just keeps coming back for more. Reasonably fast with 8 gigs of RAM, a cheap SSD and a little A4 processor.

Very pleased. A very inexpensive way to replace my shop computer. No problems with the high quality elecrolytic caps in the audio section - and all the rest are polymer.

Other Thoughts: Spend the money now, cost $15.00 to send for replacement

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Value

Pros: Alot of bang for your buck here, I paid $55 for this mobo. It's small with the mini ATX form factor but built for the A-series CPU's this things loaded with cool features. Its not top quality for example it has standard coated caps instead of cold or titanium etc, but if your looking for a budget build, cant go wrong here.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsGreat board to make a powerful cheap gaming rig

Pros: This motherboard was cheap when i bought it back in march of 2014 and i was skeptical at first because it is a micro atx mobo. But built the computer on the lowest budget i had and let me tell you i have had no problems with it posting or overclocking in general my A8-5600k APU is overclocked to 4.3 GHZ Im able to run most games at high or ultra settings thanks to the GTX 550 Ti i picked up from a flea market for $20 brand new, The motherboard supports 8 SATA connections i have no use for all 8 but I can say that its a deal for so many ports on a micro ATX board. I would say this is one of the best mobo's i have invested into in a while

Cons: The only complaint i have is the prongs to wire your case are not labeled on the mobo and are only labeled in the instructions which make things really confusing.

Other Thoughts: my rig and cost:
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB
AMD A8-5600K
EVGA SuperNOVA NEX750B BRONZE 120-PB-0750-RX 750W ATX12V
Kingston SSDNow V300 120Gb
Seagate Barracuda 1Tb 7200rpm Hdd
used an old Gateway Gt5404 case

Total cost $453.52

5 out of 5 eggsNice board

Pros: Nice HTPC board. Using the HDMI port and an APU makes a really cheap but fast Ubuntu Kodi client

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I could have used lighter frontends for my TVs but I like having decent PCs attached to every TV in the house.

1 out of 5 eggsbuyer be warned

Pros: cheap fm2 slot. when it post's it work's.

Cons: Very bad cmos issues fails to post quite often usb 3.0 ports cant seem to support most USB 2.0 devices. bio-star support very bad on all of these issues and there still has not been a bios update to attempt to fix any of these issues since 04/2013. seems to be a actual hardware issue. 3 boards all the same problem.

Other Thoughts: DO NOT buy unless you enjoy having a headache and fighting to get your cmos to post. issues took 2 months or so to arise and only able to be solved by switching boards to msi a75 problem gone. also from what i have found this problem only progresses over time until final death usually around 1 year.
