2 out of 5 eggsbad mobo

Pros: this is an update from my original review see daniel M.

Cons: update from a previous review that newegg wont let me update for some reason

Other Thoughts: it was a bad mobo, i had random power downs, after a week of troubleshooting the psu, ram, gpu, updating drivers, bios, checking temps, etc i came to the conclusion that it was a bad unstable mobo. I ordered that sabretooth 990 2.0 and installed it. My computer runs withouth incident now. What a hassle.

5 out of 5 eggsUpdated Review

Pros: I've used this board for over a month and have had absolutely no issues with it. This board is very stable with my build (specs below).

When I bought this board (for 55$) it was the cheapest board that I could find that had usb 3.0 slots and SATA 6gb/s slots.

Cons: You must follow instructions in the instruction booklet that came with the board if you want it to run successfully. To make the board run successfully you must put your RAM sticks into the red slots first before filling in the black slots. Also, put your GPU in the black slot not the red. Also, you have to have fans plugged into both the cpu fan slot and the system fan 1 slot on the motherboard for the board to even run. These 3 requirements are all explained in the instruction booklet and are most frequently not followed by buyers. Make sure you do these 3 things.

Other Thoughts: System Specs:
CPU - FX 8320
GPU - GTX 650 superclocked
RAM - 4GB (2x2) G. Skill Rip Jaw @ 1600hz
PSU - Antec 450 Watt

I've been running this computer with the components above for over a month and have had no stability issues whatsoever. I've even downloaded the updated BIOS from the Biostar website and everything continues to be stable.

1 out of 5 eggsYou get what you pay for

Pros: Powers up the fans (Thanks to Michael M's review for helping me see at least one benefit from this board)

Cons: DOA Nothing will post at all. After powering on the system, had to use switch on power supply to turn off - front power switch did not function. (My board must have come out of the same batch as another reviewer - Michael M).

So at least 2 customers who bought this board as part of the same bundled special ended up with a faulty board with the same symptoms. Not good.

Other Thoughts: I guess this falls under you get what you pay for. Thought it was a good deal but board was DOA and now I'll spend more than the $$ savings in time and effort getting a replacement with no guarantees the new board will work. This board's failure rate (based on the feedback here) is way too high.

4 out of 5 eggsworks well enough

Pros: this inexpensive (I did not say cheap) MB works well for my purposes, which is a low-cost but reasonable speed 6 core workstation/server build. I matched it with good hardware, and it has worked mostly flawlessly. If it were more expensive, I could ping it on a number of BIOS feature items, but for $50 on a combo price there is little point. I would recommend it for the price, and I would buy a Biostar MB again, but probably something with better BIOS management (and with UEFI)

Cons: my main ping is the ANTIQUE BIOS control software. NO control over case or CPU fan speeds, in any state. For example, in sleep mode, which I use often, the fans just run and run at operating speeds, so I have this constant additional background noise and power consumption when running other workstations.
Just know this before purchase.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat board, running solid for 4+ months

Pros: Great board for building a gaming rig on a budget. Fired right up for me out of the box. No need to worry about popping caps with the solid ones on this board. Paired with a FX-6300, 16GB Team Vulcan 1600, xfire Radeon 7970's handles any game I throw at it.

Cons: BIOS is somewhat clunky. Overclocking is a bit of a chore. Two of the screw holes didn't line up with my case.

Other Thoughts: This is a full ATX board. If you have a micro tower it won't fit. It's cramed into my mid-tower pretty tight.

2 out of 5 eggsLemon

Pros: Lots of ram space, 140w processor socket, integrated audio, looks nice, cheap

Cons: only 3 fan connectors, poor bios utility, no USB 3.0 connector for case, NB runs hot

Other Thoughts: I bought this as a budget build mobo. My PC randomly shut off sometimes after 5 minutes, sometimes after 6 hours. After troubleshooting all other parts, (PSU, RAM, GPU, and different cooling solutions <--- about a week of troubleshooting) I have deduced that the motherboard is unstable and produces random shutdowns. My new mobo being delivered, will update my review once its installed to see if this mobo was indeed the problem. *i did not rebuy the same motherboard, i am trying the Asus sabertooth mil spec instead.

4 out of 5 eggsVery good board with only one flaw

Pros: Plenty of SATA ports, plenty of RAM slots. Nice layout.

Cons: Does not have internal USB 3.0
I knew this when I bought the board, but it is still just sad. In this day and age, USB 3.0 is the new standard, why not put a USB 3.0 internal connector?

4 out of 5 eggsGood, but needs work

Pros: •A motherboard
•Works
•does the job
•Gives 6 Sata 6 Gb/s
•2 PCIe 2.0 [x16,x4] 2 PCI
•Fits like said save for one issue addressed in CONS

Cons: •Small board
•Gets heavier with additions to the board
•Comes with two SATA cords, contact the manufacture and they will send two for free.
•works well with AMD x4 x6 and x8, but has cpu allocation issues.
•Gets a bit annoying when you notice the two top screw holes are... off centered
•Has specific issues; i.e, the first fan plug[Below the CPU] needs to be used, and use the red/orangish RAM slots first.
•Lied about the UEFI bios.
•Manual is a bit too techy.

Other Thoughts: This board is wonderful for a mediocre computer buildsman who doesn't want to overclock. The Manual that had came with the product was a little irritating to follow, and a bit iffy for one new to building a PC. If I had to give an honest opinion, you should buy the board, but you NEED to take note on several parts, and the PCI's are too close to eachother for proper SLI. If you purchase, this board, look for a cheap GPU, or maybe a cpu with build in graphics. This is a DECENT gaming mother board to say the least. If you want to use the board, read the user manual several times and make sure you take good note of the prongs at the bottom. Happy building guys.

1 out of 5 eggsdon t buy .. problem sure

Pros: nothing good .. cheap mobo

Cons: not compatible with fx cpu the idle core drop .. and crash ..or shut down..

If you have time, please contact gerry@biostar-usa.com, we would like to know your configuratation and duplicate/resolve issue if this exists. This product has been in market for almost 2 years, selling in the thousands, many customers are using FX CPU's, we want to find out if problem exists in market or this is a isolated case. 4 out of 5 eggsWorks good should have payed more attention not SLI supported

Pros: had the computer for about a month now.. no issues what so ever, built it right out of box with all new parts. In 35-40 min was installing windows 7 ultimate. next to buy is a SSD and more ram, liquid cooling for CPU, and a ram cooler... so far have a 1.5TB HDD working OK could be faster but not motherboards fault.. Bios was easy dunno why anyone would Need to change it... >.< ummm Overclocked nicely my AMD FX Vishera 8-core 3.5gHz To 4.6gHz.... turned it down cuz it auto clocked it to that...>.< back down to factories recommended 4.2 working great nicly picked out my old ram and my new ram in the 1+2 slots has new 1866 and 3+4 has old 1333 RAM ordering new ram soon just though I'd try it and it worked great.. 12GB RAM ATM.

Cons: Not SLI Supported Didn't notice when Buying should have been paying more attention can't use all slots as I have a double wide 2GB Zotac video card. Didn't know USB 3 and LAN Drivers need to be installed off disk first before they work or else the USB 3's work as USB 2's didn't understand why my External hard drive wouldn't connect but my USB flash stick did (side by side only 2 USB 3's) think thats all great product :)

Other Thoughts: Could move some things on board so the PCI X1 is on top slot would be better so you could raise the upper PCI X16 up so give space for a double wide video card and put parts from original spots in the new open area this would maximize the use of this product. Maybe add SLI support because there are not enough options for SLI supported products... If Biostar Makes a stable overclock compatible ATX motherboard that utilizes the full 7 slots that board can use in a better way makes it 64gb of ram 4 slots (for future proofing) AMD AM3+ with 0.51mm pin holes so it can use older CPU's. Invest in Graphene because it it the fastest conductive material to date at room temperature. this Will cut back on need of fans and increase speeds exponentially, and at a very cheap cost... I would invest in this and I'd use you and your products for my business. Not sure how to get a hold of a manufacture like yourselves to buy parts in bulk directly instead of through the middle man like websites or retail shops like future-shop.... But id like to look into some company to work together with.. I have no knowledge of how to make a motherboard but I know what I want and i cannot find it.. no buddy makes it or I'm limited to certain options. why hasn't a company created a basic order list of what you would like and what technologies available which could be updated any time and you pick and choose what it is you want so you don't get extra stuff you don't want and you get exactly what you want..
