4 out of 5 eggsVery good board with only one flaw

Pros: Plenty of SATA ports, plenty of RAM slots. Nice layout.

Cons: Does not have internal USB 3.0
I knew this when I bought the board, but it is still just sad. In this day and age, USB 3.0 is the new standard, why not put a USB 3.0 internal connector?

4 out of 5 eggsGood, but needs work

Pros: •A motherboard
•does the job
•Gives 6 Sata 6 Gb/s
•2 PCIe 2.0 [x16,x4] 2 PCI
•Fits like said save for one issue addressed in CONS

Cons: •Small board
•Gets heavier with additions to the board
•Comes with two SATA cords, contact the manufacture and they will send two for free.
•works well with AMD x4 x6 and x8, but has cpu allocation issues.
•Gets a bit annoying when you notice the two top screw holes are... off centered
•Has specific issues; i.e, the first fan plug[Below the CPU] needs to be used, and use the red/orangish RAM slots first.
•Lied about the UEFI bios.
•Manual is a bit too techy.

Other Thoughts: This board is wonderful for a mediocre computer buildsman who doesn't want to overclock. The Manual that had came with the product was a little irritating to follow, and a bit iffy for one new to building a PC. If I had to give an honest opinion, you should buy the board, but you NEED to take note on several parts, and the PCI's are too close to eachother for proper SLI. If you purchase, this board, look for a cheap GPU, or maybe a cpu with build in graphics. This is a DECENT gaming mother board to say the least. If you want to use the board, read the user manual several times and make sure you take good note of the prongs at the bottom. Happy building guys.

1 out of 5 eggsdon t buy .. problem sure

Pros: nothing good .. cheap mobo

Cons: not compatible with fx cpu the idle core drop .. and crash ..or shut down..
good for the old cpu like atlon ..

Manufacturer Response:

Sorry to hear of your troubles, but so far we done heavy testing with FX cpu's and find no problems. If you have time, please contact, we would like to know your configuratation and duplicate/resolve issue if this exists. This product has been in market for almost 2 years, selling in the thousands, many customers are using FX CPU's, we want to find out if problem exists in market or this is a isolated case. If isolated case, we would like to find solution to the problem for you.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks good should have payed more attention not SLI supported

Pros: had the computer for about a month now.. no issues what so ever, built it right out of box with all new parts. In 35-40 min was installing windows 7 ultimate. next to buy is a SSD and more ram, liquid cooling for CPU, and a ram cooler... so far have a 1.5TB HDD working OK could be faster but not motherboards fault.. Bios was easy dunno why anyone would Need to change it... >.< ummm Overclocked nicely my AMD FX Vishera 8-core 3.5gHz To 4.6gHz.... turned it down cuz it auto clocked it to that...>.< back down to factories recommended 4.2 working great nicly picked out my old ram and my new ram in the 1+2 slots has new 1866 and 3+4 has old 1333 RAM ordering new ram soon just though I'd try it and it worked great.. 12GB RAM ATM.

Cons: Not SLI Supported Didn't notice when Buying should have been paying more attention can't use all slots as I have a double wide 2GB Zotac video card. Didn't know USB 3 and LAN Drivers need to be installed off disk first before they work or else the USB 3's work as USB 2's didn't understand why my External hard drive wouldn't connect but my USB flash stick did (side by side only 2 USB 3's) think thats all great product :)

Other Thoughts: Could move some things on board so the PCI X1 is on top slot would be better so you could raise the upper PCI X16 up so give space for a double wide video card and put parts from original spots in the new open area this would maximize the use of this product. Maybe add SLI support because there are not enough options for SLI supported products... If Biostar Makes a stable overclock compatible ATX motherboard that utilizes the full 7 slots that board can use in a better way makes it 64gb of ram 4 slots (for future proofing) AMD AM3+ with 0.51mm pin holes so it can use older CPU's. Invest in Graphene because it it the fastest conductive material to date at room temperature. this Will cut back on need of fans and increase speeds exponentially, and at a very cheap cost... I would invest in this and I'd use you and your products for my business. Not sure how to get a hold of a manufacture like yourselves to buy parts in bulk directly instead of through the middle man like websites or retail shops like future-shop.... But id like to look into some company to work together with.. I have no knowledge of how to make a motherboard but I know what I want and i cannot find it.. no buddy makes it or I'm limited to certain options. why hasn't a company created a basic order list of what you would like and what technologies available which could be updated any time and you pick and choose what it is you want so you don't get extra stuff you don't want and you get exactly what you want..

1 out of 5 eggsNEVER AGAIN

Pros: Thought I was getting a deal.
Powers up the fans

Cons: Nothing will post at all.
Will not even power off .
Cheaply built and you can tell these things are thrown together fast with probably no quality control at all. How they can say these check out ok and get shipped to customers is just appalling.

Other Thoughts: I have used Abit then a die hard ASUS fan for over a decade and hell even took a chance on some MSI boards and never did I pull out a new board that was completely dead like this one. I can see why this board came cheap in a bundled package as they have to dump useless garbage somewhere. Never again will I waste time with BIOSTAR boards and I will pay the little extra for the Reliability I get from ASUS.

Manufacturer Response:

We are sorry to hear of your troubles. Biostar factory is ISO 9001 certified with strong QC checking, but we cannot check what happens after product is shipped to market. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact for direct assistance.

3 out of 5 eggsBiostar TA970

Pros: great motherboard for the price

Cons: false information, does not come with/ nor is there a uefi bios for the motherboard its just "capable"

Other Thoughts: overall its a good board wish the facts were strait with the motherboard when i bought it, because i was looking for an easier low overclock alternative.

Manufacturer Response:

UEFI is natively built into the bios, but to activate or enable this feature you must start with Windows installation while booting to a Windows installation disc in UEFI mode. Please see FAQ for UEFI installation.
note: Can skip step one for the latest updates bios as that is not longer needed. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Biostar at 626-581-1055 menu 2 or email

1 out of 5 eggsI Want My Week Back.

Pros: Solidly Built. Good features for the money.

Cons: Random shutoffs in intervals of 1 to 24 hours, whether the system is under load or simply idle.

Wildly inaccurate temperature and voltage readings on every respectable monitoring program. (Sometimes the CPU registered -3*C and the +12v supply read around 4.3 volts)

Only 2 BIOSes posted on BioStar's support site That's not allot considering this boards manufacturing lifecycle. (That struck me as odd: It almost looks like BioStar developers aren't paying attention to this board.)

Other Thoughts: This board was paired with a Rosewill CAPSTONE-450 PSU, and AMD FX-6300, 8GB Team Vulcan 1.5v RAM and a Radeon 7700 Video Card. It was running Win7 Pro 64bit.

I am no stranger to PC builds, and I was not looking to overclock or tweak this system up-front. This board was intended for a budget build for a friend, and stability was the principle concern. Now, I HATE RMAs, and I hate the hassle of repackaging & paying shipping. With that said, I stubbornly dug-in for 7 evenings and I confidently put my troubleshooting experience to work. But no matter what I tried , I could not get this board to run stable, nor could I replicate the issue on demand. Every time I thought I had the shutoff issue licked it would reappear, sometimes days later. (My last thought was that it might be related to CPU-Z or HWmonitor running in Windows, but I simply didn't have the time to test my theory. Even if it was those programs, I couldn't risk that another program might have the same effect down the road.) Anyway, I eventually I gave up and RMA'd it and purchased the ASUS M5A97 R2.0 instead. The system is now rock stable with a mild overclock from 3.5 to 4.1Ghz.

Manufacturer Response:

Biostar sincerely apoligzes for your issues you had with using the product. Very unfortunate. If you have questions, please feel free to contact for direct assistance.

5 out of 5 eggsexcellent board if your on a tight budget

Pros: very solid board for the money especially if you want a 9 series chipset motherboard from amd but dont have to extra cash for an asus or gigabyte board.

Cons: 2 screw holes dont align with my cases standoff mounts and the bios likes to down clock my ram to 800 and my ram is 1333mzh stock

Other Thoughts: fix the bios downclocking the ram otherwise i am very pleased with this motherboard
