3 out of 5 eggsBIOSTART A690

Pros: Board is compatible with my components.. mostly.

Cons: Northbridge gets up to 65 degrees, without being under intense stress. This causes lag in gameplay, video playback.

Other Thoughts: Wouldn't purchase this board in the future.

4 out of 5 eggsWorked, but a catch in a package deal

Pros: Simple to install, matched the case pretty well, decent diagram for components included

Cons: Only a single case fan plug.

Other Thoughts: Bought this as part of a DIY kit here on NewEgg. The case had two case fans installed on it, each requiring the standard case fan plug. the mobo only has ONE plug for a case fan.

This required additional work (and parts) to get it all connected up correctly, and even then the two case fans are sharing a single plug (which, I hazard to guess might make the system measurements a little out of whack).

5 out of 5 eggsWorking great

Pros: So far so good. Bought this for a little budget computer to replace an ASUS MB that fried. Very pleased so far. Hooked everything up to it and it fired right up.

I had to but some heat on it to get some plugs in but it felt sturdy enough to handle it.

Cons: Only problem was the screw holes of the MB did not line up with the holes in my case. This proved quite annoying.

I am holding it in with only one screw and some handyman work but hey its working and in place.

3 out of 5 eggsBiostar is moving up!

Pros: This board has some decent features for the price, It's ok for a budget pc or gaming.

Cons: Doesn't like my Logitech g19 or g9x mouse. Computer won't post all the time if I use the usb ports in the back. What corrected the issue is, plugging the keyboard alone in one of the rear usb ports, and then using the usb ports on the keyboard to plug in the mouse and camera.

Other Thoughts: Rear usb ports work fine with all the Microsoft keyboards and mice I tested on it. Strange...

5 out of 5 eggsfew bells and whistles

Pros: 1 - Inexpensive
2 - Workhorse
3 - Plain and Simple

Cons: 1 - Takes a long time to post
2 - plain old fashioned BIOS

Other Thoughts: Price versus cons, earns five eggs from me, I'm using it in a gaming rig with a FX-6300. You can use this for a gaming computer if you are on a tight budget. You have to spend a bit more on graphics, but this board will allow you to spend more elsewhere. I would purchase this board again with no hesitation. No USB 3.0, but then again it was not advertised with it.

5 out of 5 eggsOutstanding mATX for the price.

Pros: mATX size
Works great
Slight overclocking capability, but not much.
Support for FX Processors
125W TDP
16GB RAM Max

Cons: PCI Express x1 is underneath the graphics card slot, so having a card that takes up two spaces eliminates the use of the x1.

No USB 3.0

Other Thoughts: I just wish manufacturers would start putting the x1 PCI-Ex slot above the x16 PCI-Ex.

5 out of 5 eggs20/20

Pros: I purchased 20 of these bad boys when Newegg had a free 8GB memory stick paired with them. I've used all 20 with no DOA's and no failures to date.

Cons: Not a super high end board by any means. But great for any standard desktop PC or even a mid-range gaming system with addition of a dedicated graphics card. Support for most of the FX series CPU's is nice too.

Other Thoughts: Biostar is underrated in my opinion. I've experienced very good reliability, virtually no incompatibilities and very easy setup with pretty much every AMD and Intel board from Biostar.

4 out of 5 eggsPretty Good...BUT BEWARE GAMERS

Pros: Great Mother Board

Cons: Bad USB placement

Other Thoughts: The main problem with this board, is only a problem for gamers. The usb ports are placed directly under the second pci slot, which means if you are using a dual slot gpu, you cant use your front panel usb ports. The cord sits right in the gpu fan, so its a no go. BUT otherwise this is a great motherboard.

5 out of 5 eggsStandard board

Pros: Great BUDGET board
125w support

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: This is a budget board, plain and simple. If you think that this board should be able to overclock, then you should not be building computers or messing with motherboards. Lucky you don't break the thing putting it in.
