5 out of 5 eggsSolid Motherboard

Pros: Installation and setup was a breeze. Zero issues with it so far.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Purchased to use as the base of a system with room to grow. I need a new computer but didn't have the funds at the time to build the gaming rig I wanted. Currently running a i3-4130 with 8GB of G.SKILL Ripjaw X DDR3-1600 with other components I had at home. Planning to upgrade to an i7 and dedicated graphics in the near future.

4 out of 5 eggsGood budget Z87

Pros: All SATA6, decent USB3 connectors, decent utilities, UEFI decent, good 1Gbps NIC and available IPv6, plenty of USB2

Cons: Not enough fan headers

Other Thoughts: Biostar - hmm - not exactly the brand name associated with the biggies; however, most of the board is purely Intel based and all Intel based utilities work. No issues so far, well made.

1 out of 5 eggsUghhh!

Pros: Nothing yet.

Cons: Board and CPU arrived. Installed them after pulling my existing CPU/MB off (I7 920). Went to power up AND......nothing. Not even a blip from the power supply. Pulled the heatsink and CPU off and found that the board had bent socket pins. 2 of the wires were up higher than all the others.

Anyone who installs a CPU into the LGA 1150 will see that it really can't be done wrong. I'm not sure how I missed the bent pins. Had to RMA board (13 more dollars shipping). Hopefully trying to power up with the bent socket pins didn't break the Intel CPU......................

Other Thoughts: This is my 4th system I have purchased from newegg. Never had a problem with products from them before. Hopefully they can help me out if the bad board burned out the CPU. I refuse to be "out" $250 because of bad products. Hopefully the next board actually works.

Manufacturer Response:

Sorry to hear of your troubles, please note, Biostar can help to repair the CPU socket should there be any RMA issues with Newegg. Here is link to RMA form just in case you encounter any issues.

3 out of 5 eggsIt is just Ok

Pros: Price is low.
Z87 chip set within $100.

Cons: head phone port is in a wired position.
Dead PCI E slot

Other Thoughts: Brought this motherboard for me second build. thought this motherboard will work but it does not 100%.

I figure out the first PCI E slot is defective when I do a outside computer case build.

I can not plug my R9 270X into to the first PCI E slot and the video card is stuck at some point. Then I try the second the PCI E slot which works just fine.

Beside the first PCI E slot, this is not any thing to complaint about.

5 out of 5 eggsThis board surprised me

Pros: -Audio is pretty good compared to other boards
-Tells you the CPU temp right on the board itself very helpful when bench-marking.
-Pcie 3.0
-USB 3.0
-a lot of fan headers.
-Power and rest buttons on motherboard.
-Z87 Chipset
-6 SATA 6Gb / s ports

Cons: -HD audio header was in a weird spot right next to the left of the CPU. But it doesn't hurt the functionality whatsoever unless your front panel cable wont reach.
-You can't control the fan speed from what I can tell in the BIOS but that is also a really minor con.

Other Thoughts: This board is great i paired it with an i5 4670k, Radeon R9 270x graphics card, PNY 240GB SSD and 8 gigs of ram and this machine is a beast it takes anything i can throw at it Like BF4, BF3, Arma 2, Arma 2 OA, Arma 3, Farcry 3, NFS series and i can play everything on ultra settings. My minimum FPs is about 50 in every game i tested.

5 out of 5 eggsA real value

Pros: I had no issues at all making a new gaming rig for my teenage son with this board. I put it together with him on Christmas day and left most settings on auto to get to installing software. I went through the BIOS set the SSD to AHCI mode and seen that it had set my Team 2400 to 1333mhz . I fix that whenl I get more time to fine tune it. All the settings I would want are there and it seems easy to use. I'll see how high I can clock his 4670K latter too. Now he's too busy playing games on it. Even left at auto this is by far the fasted computer I've ever used.

Cons: Hyper 212 EVO about covers the first memory slot. Looks small in a full tower.

Other Thoughts: I've owned a number of Tforce boards for 939 and a 775. All performed very well for the price. They had some little qwerks to get used to. I haven't noticed any with this one yet. But then even the more expensive mobos I've had have had their share of issues too.

1 out of 5 eggsNot the most trustworthy

Pros: Nice looking board
Plenty of features
crossfire ready
4K/2K support
Hi-Fi audio

Cons: Could use more USB ports
Audio connector is in an awkward place (just below the processor)
Does not support bios fan control
Died quickly (see other thoughts)

Other Thoughts: When I received this board I was very excited. I immediately grounded myself and got to work putting it together. the build included an intel i5 4670K, a gigabyte GTX 760, 2X4GB vulcan Ram 1600 mhz, and a 730W power Supply in case i decided to add more gear, or switch out the nvidia graphics card for two in crossfire. These hope were, however, made null when upon my first test the system would continuously start and stop. I turned it off and unplugged the power cord and made sure the RAM and other components were properly in place. when i turned the system back on it did not stop and start, but it didn't do anything else. it didn't show any post codes, and it didn't enter the bios. I tested if this was due to hardware incompatibility by systematically removing everything, and I mean EVERYTHING. I eneded up deciding something pre-post related was dead because the motherboard never displayed any code or beep code when I uninstalled things like the RAM, and even processor. I was sad, and decided to replace this with something more trustworthy, like the MSI Z87 G43 or the Gigabyte Z87X D3H. I cannot recommend this board after this incident, but I am only one case.

4 out of 5 eggsStable, reliable, but lacking some basic features

Pros: -4 fan system fan headers
-debug led displays cpu temperature

Cons: -no option in BIOS to control system fan speeds
-audio quality not the best (ALC898 is much better)
-My heatsink blocked the top pci-e x1 slot

Other Thoughts: The biggest gripe about this motherboard is the inability to control your system fan speeds. Basically, your system fans run at full speed all the time. Only cpu fan has fan control option. My fans are very quiet and my system is almost inaudible even with 4 fans, but for users with high RPM fans I suggest you get a fan controller. Also, the audio quality is not as good compared to ALC898 on my other motherboard. Everything else works great; no major issues so far.

5 out of 5 eggsLove this board

Pros: Excellent mobo! Price, quality and just about everything else I can think of. This is the first Biostar board I have owned. I was a bit reluctant but I am so glad I choose this one. Previous was an Asrock and it was good but all things considered this one wins overall.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Just a great product.
