5 out of 5 eggsbiostar fm2+ mother board

Pros: a very nice board and it runs my a4 processor. You can not beat the features in this board for the price and that is why i bought it. The shipping as also fast and arrived 2 day ahead of schedule which was awesome. If i do another build i would use this again it is nice that you can over clock to 2600 on ram!

Cons: Not really a con but i with there was a 3.0 usb but you can't beat the price

Other Thoughts: Great board i love the quality that it is also made from.

4 out of 5 eggsQuite Happy

Pros: 1.Compact
2. Inexpensive

Cons: None that I could really come up with.

Other Thoughts: I am using it in a work station for my CNC machines and 3D printers.

I made a case for it and the PSU, it has been happily going along since I first got it booted up.

1 out of 5 eggsUpdate to Previous review

Pros: None , because they never powered up!

Cons: Spent many, many hours trying to get first motherboard, and then a replacement to power up. Never succeeded. Assume that there is a bad batch of them. Biostar tried to be helpful. They made many suggestions of things, I had already tried multiple times. Tried these boards in two separate systems, that a Biostar TA8703+ ran flawlessly in. Finally after many, many fruitless hours, concluded that these boards were just BAD!!! Biostar's support tried to be helpful, but it was very frustrating to receive suggestions that I had already told them ,that I had tried. In retrospect, There was really nothing that they could suggest that I hadn't tried, because the boards were just BAD. Ordered a MSI A55M-E35 to replace them. Newegg sent it quickly. It arrived and 15 minutes later I was up and running.

Other Thoughts: Just wished I hadn't wasted my time, but I had never had a problem with Biostar boards before, and I just couldn't believe that two of them in a row, could be BAD. I probably won't try any more Biostar Boards. Newegg as usual was great!!!

1 out of 5 eggsCan't get it to power up

Pros: Besides price, don't know yet. Still hoping to find a solution. Will update review if I ever get it working.

Cons: First one wouldn't power up. Replacement won't power up. Not very encouraging. Tried 2 of them in two different cases, with two different perfectly functioning power supplies. Biostar TA870u3+ performs perfectly in both cases. A58MDP won't power up in either. A58MDP paired with AMD A4 5300 CPU. Power suplies are 480 watts and 560 watts. Placing Power LED or HDD LED connectors the board's Power pins results in power led, or HDD led lighting up, but that is the only indicator that the board is receiving any power whatsoever. Tried jumping CMOS, checking A58MDP batery.. Dont want to believe both boards are defective!!

Other Thoughts: Really want this board to work. Any Help appreciated!!

Have not been able to find a review of the Biostar A58MDP anywhere.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Entry Level Board!!!

Pros: *UEFI Bios / Very Good GUI
*Great Feature Set
*Competitive Pricing
*Rock Solid Biostar Reliability!!
*Very good board layout

Cons: *None - it has been rock solid, no issues.

Other Thoughts: Good friend of mine was in need of an upgrade to play Tera Online. She was running that poor game on a system I built her 5yrs ago. Sempron X2, 2GB Ram, 80GB HDD & Sapphire Radeon 5450 256MB... that's right.. an MMO on 256MB video card!! lol We originally built this machine so she could watch videos on her LCD TV and the 5450 was the cheapest way to do that over HDMI out.

So I had her come over and see what she was missing by running her PC for a side by side comparison of Tera against my 8350 / 7790 based machine. She was blown away at the difference. She had no idea how much detail she was missing out on.

After a bit of research we paired this board with the following:

Microsoft Windows 7 SP1 - fibbed to Microsoft for new key
Rosewill Ranger M Case (great airflow) 39.99
AMD Athlon X4 750k Quad Core - 79.99
G.Skill 4GB DDR3 1600 Ram - 44.99
MSI Radeon 6670 1GB GDDR5 - 41.99
(R6670-MD1GD5) Used
Ultra LS350 350w PSU - From Old Build
Total: 256.95

To elaborate, we just told MS that the Mobo died and we needed a new key. Problem solved. Anyway.... for a little more than $250 bucks we were able to take her from 4fps to 30+! Graphics details are nearly maxed out. She can walk into populated areas with little to no lag and basically fully enjoy Tera Online. When you friend tells you that they can finally see details on their characters such as armor, charms etc... then you know you've done your job. She is over the moon!

Unfortunately 1 stick of ram went bad but after testing we found it was the stick, not the Biostars ram slot. So we went ahead and stuck in 8GB (4 x 2) to go ahead and finish this new build off. So, if you want to game on a budget this motherboard is a great place to start!!
