1 out of 5 eggsAwful

Pros: None

Cons: Bought 10 of these things...the first 2 i tried were the most convoluted in terms of getting them to boot from a USB, and then they would default back over to the drive...that wasn't showing up! I would then reboot, and the video went out...8 beep codes = something is wrong with the video. Just absolutely silliness.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat board for the price

Pros: Inexpensive, easy to install, well laid out (for my case), all necessary connections, everything well labeled.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: In order to get Windows 10 installed with the latest Pentium processor (without overclocking), I had to upgrade the BIOS. Other than that, installation of the new hardware, and subsequent installation of software was easy and painless.

4 out of 5 eggsSmall but the price is right

Pros: Small, inexpensive, USB 3.0 and DVI-/VGA output, everything you need in a basic motherboard.

Cons: Cramped pci-e 3.0 slot, in general not a lot of room for expansion

Other Thoughts: This is what you'd usually expect for this price range. If you need a lot of expansion cards (wi-fi card, graphics card, thunderbolt card etc) this is definitely not the board for you. Use it in situations where you're building a basic system and will be using an integrated GPU, or where you use a small discrete gpu. For what it sets out to do, this board is great.

1 out of 5 eggsuseless

Pros: Mnhjbhnkhhhvgnk

Cons: First using it allowed me to open menu to select which device I wanted to boot from and everything was ok. But after restarting it, it wouldn't let me press f9 or del to go to the menus ever again, just showed up black with a mouse curser on the bottom corner. I tried downgrading bios like other reviewers have recommend on this site in order to try to fix this problem. But it only made it worse. Turning on the pc you can hear it booting up and everything but my monitor gets no signal. I can't do anything now. I tried using hdmi and VGA. I tried two different monitors, and even tried clearing cmos. But the monitors never show signal.

Manufacturer Response:

Sorry to hear of your troubles. Please contact our technical support staff so that we can assist you, 626-581-1055 menu 2 or email support@biostar-usa.com

Based on your reported issue, please try to reset the CMOS by jumping the JCMOS1 jumper on the motherboard. Default position is 1-2, move to 2-3 for about 10 seconds, then move back to 1-2. (no power is needed).

4 out of 5 eggssolid board, BIOS a bit complicated

Pros: Quick to install.

Very easy overclocking once you understand the slightly complicated BIOS. Old BIOS versions available on Biostar website, which is needed for overclocking.

Cons: Had to flash the oldest BIOS available (2013) on the Biostar website to be able to change CPU multiplier for overclocking.

Does not seem to support Intel Smart Response technology (at least I could not figure out how to activate it, if so).

Other Thoughts: Bought in bundle with Intel G3258. My first Biostar, always had Asus and MSI before. Don't regret the change.

BIOS does not reset to default after system failure (due to wrong overclock settings), so you need to use the jumper reset. A bit tiring when gauging the best overclocking settings.
