4 out of 5 eggsniCE

Pros: Green, Easy Install, Great stabability - 2x x16 PCIE for my 2 9800GTX.. Nice overclocking for my Q9450 ( I keep it at 3.0 Ghz @ air ), first one was DOA

Cons: Haven't used my PC in a few weeks cause of burned out PSU

Other Thoughts: It was pretty cheap and worth it when I got it , it was like 150$ when i got it, so its deffinetly a big upgrade

5 out of 5 eggsGood bang for your buck

Pros: Stable with decent overclocks on CPU, RAM and GPU's
Easy to overclock in BIOS
LED Display is very handy if you ever needed to troubleshoot a problem
Comes with plenty of cables
Has great looks, the green scheme looks much better IMO than many other models
Cool post logo

Cons: Northbridge can run somewhat hot
Northbridge fan was noisy, ended up taking it off, temperatures raised only a couple degrees.
Has been finicky when I've had to re-seat the ram. (After a thorough dust cleaning) It would not post with all four slots filled, rather I had to let it post with one slot filled, shut it down, then fill the remaining three and then all was good again.

Other Thoughts: I don't usually write reviews but I felt compelled to after having such a great experience with this MOBO. I've had this board for about a year and a half and it has been running almost non stop since then, I have had ZERO major problems and only a few minor nitpicks since I've owned it. My only regret is how much I payed for it back then compared to how cheap it is now. Alas, the price you pay for buying any electronics. :D

4 out of 5 eggsMotherboard 780i

Pros: I love this motherboard for gaming is running great and can be capacity until 3 video cards, I only and running with only one but I order my second card by Newegg pretty son, I really want to see it this last 2 working together, the installation was really easy and quick but remember you need to reboot the system.

Cons: Only have problem with the size, remember a least to have a lot room for this motherboard, I have some problems with the memory ram (8gb) but was because I was running windows vista 32 and only can be running until 4gb of memory ram but with windows vista 64 will be no a problem at all can run from 4gb up.

1 out of 5 eggsGreat when it works

Pros: The feel and look of the board, PCI-E 16 slots are in great spots unlike some TRI-SLI boards, and the overall performance is good...when it works

Cons: I put a QX9650 in the board and 2 XFX GTS-250s in as well with 4 2gig sticks of OCZ reaper 800, the board got the FF error and was just stuck, so XFX repaired it and was actually REALLY fast about it, then I put the SAME setup back in the case and turned it on, it would only stay on for a second and die, I striped the system down to almost nothing and it still died. XFX tried saying that it might be my power supply (which works just fine in another system) and that I would probably have to get that replaced, to this day even though I have requested another RMA they have ignored me and have done nothing to help me.

Other Thoughts: Because of the RMA issues and horrid handling of my issue I'll have to go back to ASUS and never buy an XFX product again, not even their video cards, such a shame too.

Manufacturer Response:

We are sorry to hear that you have had a problem. Please email with your support ticket ID and details about what has happened. Thank you.

1 out of 5 eggsXFX SUCKS

Pros: Cool looking heat pipes. Looks cool.

Cons: Do not get this board it runs extremely hot despite the deceiving heat pipes. My system runs at 38C idle and my processor is at 55C idle with NO overclocking what so ever. I get RAM errors at LEAST once a week some times more and it goes to the blue screen of death and restarts my comp.

Other Thoughts: XFX has basically NO technical supports for U.S based customers

Manufacturer Response:

Your CPU running at 55C at idle is most likely due to the CPU cooler being mounted crooked or insufficient thermal paste between the cooler and the CPU. The motherboard will not cause your CPU to run this warm at idle unless you have manually changed the CPU voltage settings in BIOS to an unsafe level.

We offer web support to all of our customers worldwide and in North America and Europe have phone support as well. If you have any problems please feel free to contact us at or 800-880-3225.

1 out of 5 eggsBacking-up Airdog's Review

Pros: EVGA has and identical board o newegg.

Cons: My experience is IDENTICAL to Airdogs. Its really strange actually how similar it is. First board from xfx was DOA. Spent 2 weeks waiting for a replacement. Their service sucked right away. Slow shipping. Slow repose with tickets and RMA. Then 8 months later (exactly with-in 3 days) of getting that second board it just stops for no reason. I lost school work and had to use a friends computer for recovering hard drive data. I send in a ticket. This response was faster. However, I had to ship it across counrty and then they spent 2 MONTHS getting me a new one. I sent about 20 ticket emails to them and they didn't get beck to me until the end of those 2 months saying they spent 2 weeks testing it only to decide to send me a brand new one. Then they sent another ticket message saying they were out-of-stock of my board. I got another board in the mail after waiting 2 months 3 days. Now if you keeping count that was 2 of these boards that died on me so far. see other thoughts for more info.>

Other Thoughts: But the fun doesn't end there. I waited 2 months for a new board that had 3 BENT CPU FINS ON ARRIVAL. The box looked great they had shipped it in so it must have been damged at their warehouse. I sent yet another ticket out and then they asked for a pic of my credit card and license. Now that seems fishy. I understand a credit card payment for collateral (they wanted to do a cross-shipment to speed things up) but a picture of both sides of my credit card and license?! Somethings up. So I asked for a full refund. I wish the story would end so you could continue to be amused but I am currently still waiting for their response. This XFX experience has been 11 months and 3 boards. To cut a short story.. oh wait that doesn't work--!!!DO NOT BUY FROM XFX!!! I was able to milk a free game from them after lots of angry emails. So if your just as frustrated as I am, you can get a little something for their terriBAD customer service and products.

1 out of 5 eggsMy Experience

Pros: SLI, 8GB support, Overclockable

Cons: Poor support, poor MCP heat exchange (55 to 70C MCP), unstable

Other Thoughts: I bought this board with the intentions to use it for gaming, virtual environments and normal daily use. What I got was a machine that is not reliable. I have spent more time troubleshooting this motherboard then any other machine in my career as a computer tech. It is unstable and is consistently giving me memory errors no matter what ram I use. The frustrating part is that I get the errors every day to seven days then I need to shut down my power supply for 20 seconds and power the system back up in hopes that the problem doesn't return immediately. I have RMA'd the ram 3 times, purchased new ram, rma'd the PS, MB, CPU and Video cards. I HATE this board and XFX can well, put this board where the sun doesn't shine.
Oh, and to top it all off XPX does NOT cross ship.

1 out of 5 eggsXFX 780i

Pros: pci express 2.0 thats about it.

Cons: Chipset runs hot, board only lasted about 8months & the northbridge chipset burnt out. I had this board running raid 0 with 2 harddrives & the performance seemed 2 be a little lacking. Also XFX support really sucks, its been a month & they still havent sent me my replacement. It took me 10days just to get a RMA number to send it back and xfx has no support phone number to call in the U.S. only to the U.K. for 1.20 per minute.

Other Thoughts: I would stay away from XFX all together, if you do get XFX make sure you get a warranty thing through whoever you buy it from because you dont want to have to deal with XFX. Also I heard from others the 780i chipset runs hot I would stay away from this chipset.

5 out of 5 eggsUpdate

Pros: Update, very good board that after my a/c kicked the bucket this board can at load with a 65nm conroe at 3.2ghz run very stable with head room work with an ambient temp up to 40c (I lost weight that month till the slumload fixed it). Max cpu temp 65c.

Cons: Needs much better cooling for the chipsets even at stock speeds and the moderate to high temps are watering down the system performance by causing the latencies to go up. With fan mod it must be cleaned regularly when used daily.
VDROP it is horrible can't oc much more. >:O

Other Thoughts: Better cooling next time won't ya.
