2 out of 5 eggsTyan rock solid? Not mine

Pros: Incredible features, Tyan's rock solid reputation* (see below), great speed, nice big fanless (quiet) Northbridge heatsink

Cons: Problem with voltage regulators (VRMs) in some cases.

Other Thoughts: This is a fantastic motherboard, I love it. I bought it when they came out and have been happy, it has been solid except for one GLARING exception. My system reboots sort of randomly but under load despite my great temps, it's heat related. I researched and found other people with same problem that was solved by switching boards. Soon after it came out, Tyan removed support for 800MHz Prescotts due to problem with voltage regulators. I seem to have the same problem with my 2.8GHz 800MHz Northwood. From Tyan techsupport email,"The reason why is that the VRM's can't handle the voltage requirements correctly and thus they have a tendancy to get too hot and overheat which then causes any number of stability related problems and reboots". If you want to read the entire saga (w/emails) I've had with Tyan about my motherboard, go to the silentpcreview forum and search for S5101, it's long. If you have an 800MHz CPU, I suggest you get something else. That goes for the ANF as well.

5 out of 5 eggsReliability and Performance

Comments: I went tyan for the reliablitity and performance. With all the different motherboards to choose from I have never came across a Tyan motherboard that was unsatisfactory. This Motherboard has onboard raid for IDE and SATA. There is potential of hooking up 6 hard-drives. Lots of room for expansion.
