This board ROCKS
- Pros: I got this board for a customer that playes alot of online games, She needed moor memory and a 2x coar chip, It gets the job dun, plus MOOR.
- Cons: NUN
- Other Thoughts: They need to learn how to put moor SATA hookups on thease LOL
Great home or lab server
- Pros: Great board for home or small lab server because of the price newegg is offering this at and the PCI/PCI-X slot availability.
- Cons: Only supports older CPUs and max 8GB. Video Output.
- Other Thoughts: Older CPUs supported include dual core that support intel VT-x and since this board also supports Intel Virtualization with the more recent firmware you can run Virtual Machine Hypervisors from various vendors on this.
Best Bang for your Buck
- Pros: 1] Value - Performance per dollar is unbeatable.
2] Ease of use - No bios update required, Layout is great for builds (no bulky VRMs etc)
3] Extras - comes complete with sATA cables, USB plate, Com port Plate, molex to sATA x2 power.
4] 64Bit PCI slots allow older RAID cards to be used
5] PCIe slot allows for newer graphics cards if required for workstation applications.
6] Lots of case fan connections
7] Did I mention price?
- Cons: 1] Only one internal USB connection, so if you have an internal card reader and USB ports on the front of your case, you have to choose.
2] sATA cables that it comes with are not the locking kind.
3] RAID functions seemed slow even with just mirrored drives, stick with hardware RAID, or RAID functionality within your OS (FreeNAS, MSWIN Server 2003, etc...) ** This claim in completely subjective and not proven with actual benchmark tests.
4] You will need to source a processor from a used computer store or an online auction site. No stores carry compatible processors anymore.

-Intel 940 Pentium D 3.2GHz-Presler ($40 from a popular auction site)
-512mb of standard DDR2 RAM ($6 from a popular auction site)
-40GB IDE HD for the OS ($15 from a popluar auction site)
-4x1TB sATA drives in RAID5 ($79 each on sale from Newegg)
Great performance at a crazy discounted price. With support for 8GB of RAM, you could even virtualize other server functions... email, FTP, DNS, etc...
Although this board is limited to older CPUs, I bought it knowing that a Dual Core 3.2GHz with 4Mb of L2 Cache was more than is needed for almost all home server applications... hence the 5 egg rating.
