5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Board, Great Price

Pros: Purchased this for use with a quad core i7 laptop chip and am very pleased with the board so far. Installation was pretty straightforward and the board was well made and the included features are quite good considering the cost. G2 boards in general tend to be a lot more expensive and are usually geared towards use driving those obnoxious LED signs everyone seems to have now.

The disk included most drivers needed and some basic monitoring software. The BIOS is decent, although it lacks the fancier mouse-based interfaces and the like, it still has all the features you'd expect. Additionally, there are some nice extras for being able to allocate more or less memory to the onboard graphics.

I purchased on open box one for $120, but even at full price, this is definitely worth the cost. Despite only having one PCI Express slot, I am using this as a primary computer and am genuinely impressed with the onboard graphics.

Cons: Documentation was a bit lacking, some awkward English (Taiwanese company, but quite good considering) and missing drivers on the disk. A trip to Jetway's website and a few Windows Update refreshes got me all I needed in the end.

Like others, I am also dissapointed in the heatsink. Luckilly it only runs when under load, and isn't terribly noisy. Investing some time into building something that supports a more efficient, larger diameter fan for the sake of silence.

Other Thoughts: Very good board and worth the cost. Snag an older generation laptop i7 for $50-70 and you can have pretty impressive mini PC on the cheap.

5 out of 5 eggsEffective

Pros: Included heatsink and fan is sufficient for Mobile Core i7-2820QM. Adjustable cooling temperature ranges and fan speed. 5x SATA, 1, ESATA. Great performance with 8 GB of ram. Very low profile. Full length mini-pcie slot, hole exists with no stud for half height cards such as wireless - can do with a bit of creativity.

Cons: Non-universal heatsink. There are four attached mounting screws to fasten heatsink to bracket behind the motherboard similar to any other standard motherboard. (don't get me wrong, easy to install, just no other options)

NOTE: Remove the C-Clips on every one of the mounting screws. 2 of the 4 clips simply fell off the pins onto the motherboard during mounting. They do not serve any useful purpose when the heat-sink is installed, remove them promptly before power on so you don't accidentally short out the board when the vibrate loose later.

BIOS looks like its straight out of the 90s, needs some refinement.

Other Thoughts: I'll be watching for a different reasonable heatsink solution so it is dead silent, perhaps even passive but due to the overwhelmingly small volume of motherboards sold for the mobile processor i won't hold my breath.

Understand the onboard video before you go making false expectations. HDMI or DVI. Not both. Dual graphics using the on-chip graphics will require 1 digital output, and 1 VGA output. Just go with the pci-e slot for graphics instead.

Additionally, the manual says almost nothing but pin locations and layout. You'll need a bit of prior knowledge to make this work, so go easy.

No overclocking options, don't go there.
