5 out of 5 eggsExcellent MB for FreeNas & ESXi Whitebox

Pros: 2x SATA 3 Ports + 4x SATA2 are great for FreeNAS or a little ESXi box with SSD host cache. Q67 chipset and MB support Intel VT-d, which makes this MB one of very few MiniITX boards that support this feature for virtualization.

Cons: Ivy Bridge support did not arrive until late Mar '13. Technical support was very slow to respond to my request.

Other Thoughts: Note that this MB requires a CPU with integrated graphics. Initially the MB supported only the Sandy Bridge CPUs. But with BIOS update BF9AAA08, it supports Ivy Bridge too. I have an Intel Xeon E3 1230 V2 (Ivy Bridge) running ESX 5.1 for three months now without any issues. My XEON does not have one and hence during setup, I used a $10 ATI GPU plugged into the PCI-E slot and removed it once the setup was complete. Works perfectly :)

4 out of 5 eggsGreat m/b for FreeNAS 8.x

Pros: I used this board to build a NAS using FreeNAS 8.x. Bought it for small form factor, Intel cpu socket 1155 and 2 network connections. Fits well in my LIAN LI PC-Q25B case with room to spare. I did use low profile memory but I think full size would also work. The backing plate was fine for me and fit well into my case.

Boot up on first power on with no issues.

Cons: ~ I was surprised to find only 1 SATA cable in box? I must have missed that?? Glad I had many left overs from prior builds.

~ Instruction manual could use a tad more explanation but if you have built pc's before, you won't have any issues.

Other Thoughts: Great board and would recommend for FreeNAS for sure...

4 out of 5 eggsGood and bad

Pros: Functions exactly the way I wanted it. Excellent board to use for a SAN.

Cons: I received this board with a bent pins on the 1155 socket in the shape of a finger tip. 45 minutes of straitening the pins with a needle from my wife's sewing kit to make it right.

Other Thoughts: Excellent quality once i was able to install a CPU.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Little 6 SATA Mobo.

Pros: 6 SATA Ports Onboard
2 Ethernet Ports

Cons: None for my application.

Other Thoughts: Great little board. I've been running it for a little over a month now in a Lian PC-Q08 case as a home server (Ubuntu 11.10 server with Mdadm RAID 5). It was extremely easy to set up and supporting 6 HDD's on the board was a HUGE plus. It's a little more expensive than some other boards, but the fact that I didn't have to buy a PCI SATA card in order to evened out the cost. There are better cards out there for general use, but for server/RAID duties in a Mini ITX this is a great choice.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: 2xSata3 ports, 4xSata2 ports, Dual gigabit ethernet with Intel chipsets ( NAS build ) . Well laid out. Cpu + 2 Fan power with separate settings so none of the fans run under most of my operating conditions, which was nice and unexpected. As a NAS I figured I would just let them blow full speed all the time, but I dont have to and less air movement means less dust buildup for when the fans are needed i guess.

Cons: I/O shield is paper thin aluminum ( razor sharp ) and bends very easily. I mangled it trying to get it installed in cramped mitx case and wound up not using it. not worth dropping an egg though. Bios isnt nearly as slick as some Uefi out there, but again, i dont really care for this application, so no eggs dropped.

Other Thoughts: kinda spendy, but for 6 sata ports and failover ethernet in a mitx case what do you expect?

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Features

Pros: Has great features. Two Intel NICs on-board, Q67 chipset, and MITX footprint. Bought this board for a pfsense load balancing dual wan firewall. I added an extra Intel NIC in the expansion slot to allow for 2 WAN and 1 LAN connection. Low power consumption but lots of horsepower compared to the Intel Atom boards.

Cons: None so far. Going on two weeks of 24x7 operation. Will give long-term update later this year.

Other Thoughts: Used this for a low heat/low power network appliance build. Q67 chipset is a plus for my application. Works great with FreeBSD OS.
