4 out of 5 eggsVery well-designed board for OEM-style applications

Pros: * Layout of components is excellent.
* Power consumption right on the money.
* Silent (no fans) and very stable.
* Has GPIO pins and Android support (which I haven't used, but is an excellent thing to know I have available).
* Documentation better than most.

Cons: * Did not come with the VGA header breakout cable. It took me a lot of time to find one that worked.
* Serial console was disabled by default in the BIOS. If there's no VGA cable and the serial port is disabled, how am I supposed to configure it right out of the box?
* The documentation didn't list the female 2-pin connector's name or measurements. I ended up making my own cable with Dupont connectors and some zip ties, which works but is not the "right" way to be assembled.

Other Thoughts: You should probably know what you're looking to do with this (before) you buy it. I really appreciated the build quality and stability of it, but it was not very easy to work with. I can't fault the board for its learning curve and there's no way I can give it any less than 4 stars. Overall, it is probably one of the best OEM boards I've ever used.

I also tried VMware on it at one point, but as another reviewer said, it didn't work at all. Same for RHEL. This may have changed recently, but it is working now for what I need it for and has excellent uptime. No need to touch it further.

4 out of 5 eggsFantastic little board for a pfsense box/router

Pros: Small, low powered, powerful enough to drive 4 gig ports. Haven't actually run this at full tilt, but this is meant to be a long running device as my firewall and IDS, so time will tell.
Expandable functionality as well! mSata slot, mini pcie slots make for a versatile device, as well as an 8-bit GPIO interface (external LCD anyone??)
So far, great, would definitely buy again.

Cons: The side mini PCI extender makes it difficult to shoehorn this into some cases. Be careful of the case you purchase for this.

The power requirements - I would have loved to have been able to use an internal power supply, but no such beast exists. THIN mini-itx does not take 24 pin ATX connectors. External power supply only.

Placement of the SATA ports on board make for an awkward and difficult placement of cabling.

The US site has this board in a case as a barebones offering in a 1U half depth package, which i would have preferred to have bought instead of cobbling my own pieces together.

Other Thoughts: For an expandable netwok device board, I would definitely recommend this.

4 out of 5 eggsUpdated review

Pros: Once it is up and running, it is a nice and featureful board: many network interfaces, serial console (includes BIOS), small, no fan

Cons: Documentation is lacking. Spent a lot of time testing various configurations.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

4 out of 5 eggsUpdated review.

Pros: Low power, 4 NIC, Quad core, Fanless and runs cool. I use the same power supply that is used to run those 5m LED strips. Works great with 12v 2A.

Cons: Not Centos 7 compatible. It is a kernel issue and likely to be resolved with future releases. Works well with Windows 10 and Hyper-v. Is not VMWare 6.0 compatible (presumably for a similar reason as Centos 7). Vmware Kernel will not complete load. Older and newer Linux kernels seem to boot ok. Basically, beware that your distro of choice may be tricky. Wish it could take more than 8G of ram.

Other Thoughts: Upping my egg rating for this item. The Windows 10 crashing was not related to the motherboard but due to a bad HyperV switch configuration. It still has issues with Centos 7, but I suspect that when Centos 7.1 rolls around, the issue will be corrected. A bios update for the board might also be a magic fix too.
If you are looking for a low power system build where multiple NIC's are desired I recommend this item. NOT for Vmware though. Windows 10 works great.

2 out of 5 eggsInteresting board.

Pros: It has very nice performance for such a low power board. If it weren't for the cons, it'd be quite fantastic.

My unit likes to crash randomly with no entry in the Win10 event log.

Other Thoughts: I really want to like this unit. It was intended to be a lightweight VMWare based firewall with a couple of support VM's. Sadly, the kernel never completes its load. The same is true with Centos 7. However, moving the SSD to another system and upgrading the Centos stock kernel to a newer release fixed this upon moving back to the Jetway and the system would then boot.

Windows 10 loaded great. So did Hyper-v. While I'd have preferred VMWare, Win10 seemed a good solution. In a VM under win10, Centos loaded fine.

Instability: The board just locks up with the network lights blinking on and off (as in a steady off and on, not an activity blink). I'm not entirely sure what to make of this. Is it a defective board? Is it a bug in Win-10? A bug in the firmware? My gut feeling is that it is a bug with the Win10 drivers or networking, though I'd have thought a crash would be logged. Maybe I have a defective unit.

If it weren't for the crashing, I'd give this 5 eggs and a rave review. I'd definitely be curious to know if others have had issues.
