Versatility in a motherboard can mean many things, but seldom do we see a board which can support both PCI-e 16x and AGP 8x. ASRock has managed it in a value-driven board that gives new meaning to “bang for the buck” giving you the chance to build a platform capable of being upgraded for a long time to come. Data transfer rates between the chipsets hum along at more than satisfactory speeds, and this board will help you keep using an AGP card until such time as you see a clear benefit from switching to PCI-e. ASRock’s created something unique, in that in most boards, either the AGP or PCI-e suffers from some penalty due to the dual nature of the board, but that’s not the case here.

This truly versatile board has a 1GHz FSB (yes, you read it right), and supports the latest AMD processors. 4 slots will give you up to 4Gb of 400 MHz DDR RAM in true dual-channel configuration, and the SATA connectors will give you room for enough storage space for almost anyone. The onboard Realtel sound processor delivers rich-full range sound through your speakers, to keep you in the middle of any action, whether a movie or immersive game sequence. ASRock really pulled out all the stops in creating a board that will keep you playing even through changes in your CPU!

5 out of 5 eggsNice board

Pros: It was cheap, supports AGP\PCI-E, and socket 939\AM2 cpu's.

It's lasted forever, and been fairly reliable, minus some cold boot issues, which seem to plague these boards. I've gotten some pretty impressive performance out of this thing, it still runs new games at high\max settings. (The only game that brought this system down so far was GTAIV, but, that's likely a porting issue...)

AMD64 3700+ @2.7ghz
HD 4850 PCI-E 512mb
2gb OCZ Ram
Soundblaster Live! 24bit
Antec TP2.0 550watt PSU

Cons: Cold boot issues, weird issues with certain HD's, that's about it.

Other Thoughts: Not much else to say, it's a great board, has ran nearly 24\7 since around 2006, and has done about everything I've asked of it with very few complaints.

1 out of 5 eggsYeah, it sucks

Pros: Price is the only positive thing.

Cons: Had 2, still couldn't get them to fly with the Sempron processor.

Other Thoughts: At least NewEgg supports their stuff.

3 out of 5 eggsgood when it worked

Pros: features.it was a great mobo before it started to fail.

Cons: poor quality ,asrock bieng an asus company makes asus look kind of bad.

Other Thoughts: agp died on it and pcie was following close behind.made a waste of a 6600gt gddr3 as by the time it died it was beyond the 30 or 60 day refund period.
if you get one that will not fail its great, other than that ,i wouldnt reccomend it.

5 out of 5 eggsStill going

Pros: I had one of the first of these to show up at NewEgg and even though it didn't squeeze every last ounce out of the benchmarks I was very happy. It plays games great (Oblivion, BF2) and doesn't give me any trouble.

Cons: If you are using AGP video and want it to breath ok you are looking at using 2 or maybe even one PCI slot for peripheral cards. I modify my own cases so I keep a 3" fan blowing straight down on the GPU to keep it cool.

Other Thoughts: It has been through an ATI 9700 Pro (agp), Nvidia 6800 (agp), and has been on a Nvidia 7800 (pcie) for some time now. The processor it started out on was a SanDiego core 3700+ and I'm now on a Toledo Core (89w) 4400+. Just bought one of these refurb and am very happy with it also.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid so far

Pros: The board worked out of the box and has been great so far. The SATA drivers worked when I installed windows, I had no problems with my AGP card, and its performance has been fine. I tried Windows XP 64-bit, and though I had to remove it due to driver incompatibility for some of my other components, all of Asrock's drivers have 64-bit versions. The installation messages are funny, too: "graphy card" lol.

Cons: My case is a bit of a mess due to some rather odd port placement, but it works so I don't care.

The only other thing is that the AGP slot is really close to the first PCI slot. So if you have a graphics card, which most likely has a big cooling unit on it, your first PCI card will be extremely close, which may affect the performance of both. Mine would have been less than a millimeter apart. I decided not to risk heat problems and got rid of my sound card. The PCI-Express slot is far away, so once I upgrade my vidcard I can bring my PCI sound card back.

Other Thoughts: I was very skeptical that this would work, but so far it's been great. It seemed too good to be true, but if you need all its features, I think it's well worth a try.

5 out of 5 eggsOne Month Report

Pros: This might be a budget board but it's held up extremely well. The AGP slot does work well (more about this in other thoughts).

Cons: Some of the connectors are in tricky places but it's nothing that's going to kill you. Like some ppl on here i did experience some cold boot issues but those were easy to figure out.

Other Thoughts: Some ppl in the past had AGP problems. With most computer components it's just the luck of the draw. Plus it might've been other probs with their computer that they DIDN'T check.
