ASRock’s 775Dual-VSTA ATX Intel Motherboard is one of the first that developed specifically to be ready for Windows Vista™. Incorporating Hyper-Threading Technology and designed for untied overclocking, this board is ready to be built up with a collection of top-end components. A maximum of 2GB of DDR266/333/400 RAM lets you keep older RAM for now and upgrade to the latest and greatest later.

Your serial, parallel and 4 USB ports will let you tie in multiple peripherals, and 4 PCI and 1 PCI-E slots and 1 AGP slot give you room for all the plug-in cards you might want. Your ears will be as impressed as your eyes with a Realtek ALC888-8 channel audio Codec, connecting with HDMI-S/PDIF connectors which would allow you to feed your sound into an HDMI digital TV, and LCD TV, or a projector. This is a true multimedia machine ready to meet your tests!

5 out of 5 eggsGood Choice

Pros: Great board. I echo most things that other people have said. Make sure your PSU has a 20+4 connector.
No problems using DDR400 and AGP, very nice!

Cons: First one I got was DOA. Second time was the charm.
No Firewire.

Other Thoughts: fyi, the RMA process took 2 weeks... not fast but not slow... enjoy!

Pros: Very versitile. Good price

Cons: the position of the ide and sata ports could of been better. hard to install an IDE hard drive (which is needed before you can install a sata hard drive) is a little difficult when the end of the hard drive is nearly sitting on top of the IDE port.

5 out of 5 eggszero problems - great board

Pros: Best choice for using DDRAM with CORE2 CPU. Low price, lots of slots.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Been up and running 24/7 as server, no errors, no problems. I had data corruption with some SATA controllers when trying to use ECS P4M800Pro, those problems went away with this motherboard.

5 out of 5 eggsASROCK Rocks!

Pros: This is an outstanding motherboard for the price. Worked straight out of the box after I figured out to clear the cmos. Everything I wanted to do is being done with this board.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Newegg is the best. I pulled a good one, thought the mother board was bad. RMA'd it. Then, because of my brilliance I realized I needed to clear the CMOS. After doing that this board booted up, loaded Win XP. Pro 64 bit without a hitch. I will recommend Newegg to everyone.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I purchased this board so that I can slowly upgrade my RAM and GPU, without having to spend a lot in one lump sum. This board has run just as I expected. I have not had a single issue with this board.

Cons: Limited overclocking, but I knew this when I bought the board.

Other Thoughts: Like others have said, this is a great transitional motherboard. Once I replace my RAM and GPU I will be upgrading to a more robust board. For what it is though, it has fantastic features for the price. Once again excellent price and fantastic service from Newegg as always.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great combination of options at a reasonable price. This motherboard should permit easy upgrading through time.

Cons: The placement of the IDE and floppy connections are awkward. Enough so that I needed longer than regular length cables to be able to plug in my optical drives and floppy.

5 out of 5 eggsSuper

Pros: Just look at specs - all features work with great stability.

Cons: N/A

Other Thoughts: Can't imagine more versalite, feature rich and stable board for this price.
Pentium D 915 works fine @ 3.4 GHz.
X1950 Pro PCIe shows typical benchmark results regardless PCIe 4x.

Latest bioses have thermal management disabled. Install unofficial bios if you want MB to slow down CPU fan when needed. Otherwise "Quiet fan" option in bios doesn't work. I found a link to this German site on anandtech forum.

I flashed 2.60A just fine not knowing German and CPU fan is very quiet now.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Testing Board

Pros: Multi Platform. An extensive and complex bios with the most options I've ever seen. More than Asus or Gigabyte.

Cons: This board is definately not for high end gaming performance.

Other Thoughts: This board works great. No problems at all. It is a great board if you want to build a cheaper system with a LGA775 P4, Celeron or PD CPU, with DDR memory and a cheaper AGP card. Then when prices drop you may upgrade to a Core 2 Duo, and DDR2 memory. I don't know if you'd want to upgrade to PCI-E GPU card, since it's only X4 slot. I have a Visiontek AGP X1950 Pro with this set-up and it's pretty fast.

4 out of 5 eggsNice board for upgrades

Pros: Terrific board if upgrading and want to keep your AGP video card.

Cons: Eternal gratitude to the reviewer who pointed out that the manual is WRONG when it states that you do not need to install SATA RAID drivers when RAID is set to disabled! The system would not even attempt to boot from my SATA drive until I created the RAID driver disk and then did a "repair" of windows to get the drivers installed. Note that the system recognized my SATA drive and could read data from it when I booted using an old PATA drive as master. So you can use a SATA drive as a data drive.

Other Thoughts: Had issues getting my USB mouse working. It refused to work until after I had tried to unplug/plug it back in as well as tried a USB/PS2 converter (which didn't work). It is now working. Don't know why but am not arguing. Also, I find it annoying that RAID is defaulted to enabled.
