The P45TS from ASRock is a great choice for an upgrade board. This LGA775 board supports both DDR2 and DDR3 memory so you can use your DDR2 memory to start and when you need more speed then you can switch the memory out for DDR3. The P45 chipset supports Core 2 Quad and Core 2 Extreme processors as well as Core 2 Duo with 1333/1600 FSB.
The motherboard has everything you would expect. It has 6 SATA ports plus an eSATA port (shared with an internal port) for drives and an ATA133 header for legacy drives. There are 6xUSB ports on the back panel and 2 headers for 4 more ports. There is a 7.1 channel audio system with analog and SPDIF ports.
The motherboard supports overclocking and tuning with Intelligent Overclocking Technologiy and the ASRock OC Tuner. It also has jumper adjustments to ensure stable performance at any speed.

Solid Performance
- Pros: ASRock delivers another very reliable product with this motherboard. With the integration of intel's new P45 chipset, this board is a deadly combination with any CPU posting a FSB of 1333mhz. The board offers 2 of the 6 memory slots for DDR3 and it has 6 SATA2 ports. This motherboard has a ton of options for overclocking capabilities although I haven't gotten a chance to test them yet.
- Cons: On the initial smoke test, the BIOS wouldn't recognize several PS2 keyboards. I had to use a USB Keyboard to enter the BIOS for the first time. Also, there is only 1 IDE interface port. Be ready to upgrade to all SATA capable HDDs if you haven't already (or get a SATA cd/dvd rom drive).
- Other Thoughts: My current setup: Windows Vista 64bit, Intel E8400 Core 2 Duo 3Ghz, G. Skill 4GB DDR2 1066, ASRock P45TS
Cheap and works
- Pros: Cheap board with a lot of options.
It runs stable.
I have had no problems with this board at 'stock' settings.
- Cons: Does not overclock well, even an FSB of 320 is unstable. I had to push 1.35 volts and the high FSB voltage setting with my E7400 just to get it to POST, forget any stability tests.
Also my ram will not become stable at manufacturer specs or even OC. I have 2x2GB OCZ SLI 6400 that came in a combo deal with my E7400, they should run at 5-4-4-15 @ 2.0v but will not POST at less than 2.2v at 600mhz instead of 800. The FSB must run at 1:1 or my board will not POST. I have tried tweaking every setting but to no avail. Even BIOS updates do not help.
- Other Thoughts: An OK board but don't expect to overclock much, my current setup is:
E7400 @ 3.1 w/ 10.5 multi 4GB OCZ SLI @ 4-4-4-12 - 2.2v at ~620mhz EVGA 9800GTX+ @ 808-1962-1154
Also the guy that posted before about Vista x64 only seeing 3.2GB, you need to turn on memory remapping.

Great
- Pros: For the price, the board is outstanding. LAN, Audio, DDR3/DDR2, lots of BIOS settings. Instant Boot is a plus.
- Cons: ASRock support tends to be slow, though helpful. The board lacks some of the capacity of more expensive boards.
- Other Thoughts: A Value purchase. I think it's perfect for a duo core you intend to moderately overclock.
price was right
- Pros: used this for a budget gaming system. no issues what so ever. great performance all around.
- Cons: none
- Other Thoughts: I think it's a waste of space to have 2 DDR2 channels and 2 DDR3 as well. you could have put another pci-e port! oh well, not a big thing.
Dont buy this board
- Pros: None
- Cons: It doesn't power up. Dead on arrival. I wasted too much time installing it and therefore lost out on the RMA.
- Other Thoughts: DONT BUY THIS BOARD. THE INSTRUCTIONS ARE MURKY. THE PICTURES ARE BAD QAULITY. I AM DISSAPOINTED NEEDLESS TO SAY.
