4 out of 5 eggsRock Solid Motherboard (800 MHz RAM)

Pros: 4 Eggs because this board is almost as advertised.
Very small footprint.
Built in video.
Runs Windoze 7 without issue.

Cons: Would not run my Corsar 1066 RAM at full speed, kicked down to 800 MHz to operate. Tried Patriot 1066 RAM as well, still failed. But system if stable at 800 MHz. Both of these RAM were running in my old ASUS MB at 1066 for over 2 years.

Configuring RAM Speed via both Jumpers and BIOS, the manual is somewhat confusing and I'm actually very compitent at this sort of thing.

Other Thoughts: I knew what I was getting as I did my research so 4 eggs because nothing was not as advertised except the RAM speed issue and I've had absolutly no other problems with the motherboard.

I purchased this to be created into a FreeNAS box and it works perfectly in that capacity, and I had an E8500 CPU to drop into it.

Download the users manual before you purchase, make sure you understand what you're getting.

4 out of 5 eggsGood for the price

Pros: DVI out, audio header has 6 jacks for surround, pretty easy to set up

Cons: jumpers for cpu setup with poor documentation (I just set it to overclock and did not overclock), cpu fan was running high rpm (loud) had to change Quiet Fan setting in the bios

Other Thoughts: Like so many others, my HP a6403w NAPA motherboard failed. I bought this to replace it. It was the cheapest MB with a decent rating that had the minimum features I wanted: DVI, 6 jack audio header, 4 sata (prefer 6, but 4 was the minimum), socket 775.

The install was pretty easy. All the headers from the HP case plugged in with no modification except the firewire, but I don't have anything that used firewire so it didn't matter to me. Unfortunately, Vista would not repair and boot to the new motherboard. If you are looking for a replacement for the NAPA board that will allow Vista to repair and boot, there is an Intel board that will work, but it does not have DVI or the 6 jack audio.

I had an extra sata hd. I upgraded to Windows 7 on the extra hd then added the original hd to get my files etc.

4 out of 5 eggsIt works.

Pros: High(er)-end processor support. HD Audio sounds great. Modern memory support. On-board video. Cheap. No problems yet.

Cons: Nothing that spending more money couldn't have gotten you.

Other Thoughts: Incorporating in a budget build will afford you some nice features. ASRock doesn't list it, but it works fine with the Intel E6500 (3.0ghz dual-core). If you're so inclined -go ahead and do it. I don't game but the X4500 o/b graphics push a 1280/1024 well over 60fps with iTunes visualizer (classic). With the HD onboard audio you can use this for an HD HomeTheater build. The HD audio has a respectable dynamic range and most HT receivers have multi-channel audio input anyway. So, no concern there. Motherboards with on-board features are a GOOD thing. They save you money - you don't have to buy extra components. They save you time - less configuration. They save space. They save energy - which is becoming increasingly important. My previous AMD build is a sluggish space-heater compared to this unit. If you need extra features then you can add them on. But this is a budget board with a really decent feature set. Solid 4 stars.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Motherboard

Pros: I upgraded from an ECS G41T-M5 v1.0 motherboard with the same chipset but I needed to go from 800 to 1066 RAM and CPUs, 4 SATA ports instead of two, Gb Ethernet instead of 10/100. In the ECS I had to add an Intel Gb card and a HighPoint SATA 3 card and ran a single-slot nVidia 8400GS. Well, when I wanted to put in an nVidia GTS-450 I didn't have the space because of the layout of all the add-on cards and the Layout of the ECS. For about $200 after rebates I ordered this board, 4GB of 1066 RAM and an E6500 to replace the ECS, 4GB of 800 RAM and a Celeron E3300 and BOY, WHAT A DIFFERENCE and there are plenty of slots open for growth.

I also didn't have to re-install Windows 7 since this board has the same chipset as the old. Everything in my Windows Experience Index is 6.5 to 7.1 (my boot drive is an SSD).

Cons: 1066 and 1333 are considered and overclock. You MUST move jumpers on the motherboard and verify with CPU-Z for optimum performance even if the BIOS is setup correctly.

Other Thoughts: Fan Speed and Overclocking tool are great. ...all this to run F1 2010. I can turn all the eye-candy on at 1920x1200 with no problems.

5 out of 5 eggsAdvanced ASRock

Pros: Very stable mainboard, excellent layout, FSB adjusts to ram. Audio HD is quality onboard, video gives me a 4.0 in performance test with Windows Ultimate.

Cons: If you can't understand the manual, and your using 800 Mhz ram, research "Front panel header" & FSB533, you must reset FSB jumpers or board will shut down and come back on repeately.

Other Thoughts: Be careful with the ASRock O.C. Tuner, only 5 Mhz adjustments at a time or you will see damage.Newegg delivery rocks!

1 out of 5 eggsLast time

Pros: Only Newegg delivery time.

Cons: Replacement MB for customer. Customer brought home and the next day was back with no video. I looked like an idiot. Actually I was for throwing out the box it came in. Turned into a nightmare. Will never buy an ASRock again.

Other Thoughts: I still love newegg.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks well

Pros: It works, it's versatile and cheap.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: I built a somewhat low power gaming/work machine last year with this mobo. My computer runs great for weeks on end without rebooting, the hibernation works when my power goes out and my battery backup puts my pc into hibernation mode. Looking forward to upgrading to SSD system drive with a 64-bit OS and maxxing out the ram at 8GB this year. Here's my basic system specs for anyone that cares...tried to balance price/energy use and performance:

Intel Pentium E6300 Wolfdale 2.8GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor BX80571E6300

XFX GX260NADFF GeForce GTX 260 Core 216 896MB 448-bit GDDR3 Video Card

Wester Digital Raptor 74GB SATA 150 system drive (cuz I had an extra one and it's still darn fast)

5 out of 5 eggsStable, plays well with others

Pros: Fits perfect inside my NZXT LAN box case. Took all of my parts in stride; no problems with clearance whatsoever. Mated well with the power/LED/etc. buttons and lights for the case. Great price for the performance you get. Runs my Wolfdale chip at about 3.2Ghz (super stable). Onboard sound is good (usually I use a USB headset anyway).

Cons: Overclocking on ASUS boards is better (read: easier and more intuitive), but overclocking on the ASRock isn't too bad.

Other Thoughts: I decided to wait a year before posting a review as I was really weary of ASRock as a brand; I'd just had no experience with them. So after one year of use in my LAN box that's been hauled to LAN parties almost every weekend for the past year, I have had ZERO problems with this board and can confidently suggest ASRock to others.

2 out of 5 eggsTech Support?

Pros: Great price, worked fine after initial assembly.

Cons: Its just past the 90 day mark and the motherboard has no video out. Contacted tech support via email and received a reply almost immediately with very poor troubleshooting advice. Responded twice that there is still the same problem even after following their instructions and have yet to hear a response.

Other Thoughts: If only the item had failed a little earlier I would have been able to get a hold of newegg and get it replaced with no hassle. Darn luck!

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: Worked out of the box. I bought to replace a much more expensive biostar that died after 2 years. I wanted to keep the cost down because I will undoubtedly be upgrading soon anyways. The performance was right on par with my last board and it had all the essentials(gb nic, 1066 ddr2 mem, surround sound).

Cons: The board I received had the first version of the bios that only read 3gb of memory and throttled down my cpu a bit. Once I updated the bios all was well however.

Other Thoughts: Much better than I expected and everything worked.
What more could you want for 50 bucks. I don't use the on board video, but I tested it just for kicks. If you are planning on using windows 7 the on board video will work decently, but you really need a separate card for smooth performance.
