4 out of 5 eggsGreat board

Pros: Full ATX board with extremely well placed connectors to help keep all the wiring out of the way.

Cons: The bottom PCI-E slot is only 4x which will hurt CF performance but I use Nvidia cards so it won't affect me at all. making it a 8x slot would have earned the 5th egg. TLB fix for early Phenom (AM2+) cpus was nearly impossible to find as well.

Other Thoughts: Went through 2 boards before I bough this beauty. Was first equipped with Phenom 9500 (Agena) but upgraded to Phenom II 955 when I was unable to find the TLB fix option in the bios. I wanted to upgrade the CPU anyway so it was no big deal in the end. Handled both CPUs amazingly.

5 out of 5 eggsJust a GREAT Motherboard!!!

Pros: Basically has everything one needs for everyday computing needs. Bought the first one a few months ago and it has been flawless. Impressed me so much that I just bought a second one for my gaming system and again I had no issues when I installed it last night. Use the latest Windows 7 drivers from the AsRock website to enable the HD Audio.

Cons: None that I am aware of. Meets all my needs. BIOS setup is easy to navigate and beat my old MSI 780G motherboard hands down. No issues on first boot, except for the audio, which necessitated the download of the VIA HD audio drivers since I had the board setup for HD audio.

Other Thoughts: This motherboard paired with an AMD Phenom II X2 550 cpu (3.1 GHz), 4GB of GSkill memory (5-5-5-15 timing) and an ATI/XFX PCI-E graphics card (used both the 4670 and 5750) and you will be very pleased with the FPS and resolution on COD4 and COD Modern Warfare 2.

5 out of 5 eggsWorth it

Pros: I combined this item with an AMD 8750 x3 cpu as a gift to my nephews and it's worth every dime. works like a charm.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Windows 7 didn't actually supported all the hardware so i had to search it up online in the manufacturer's website, good thing they had exactly what i was looking for.

4 out of 5 eggsSatisfied

Pros: Almost (See Cons) booted on first try.

Fast boot is is a complicated stand-by mode, but made me grin.

Comfortable layout.
Easy Install.
I/O plate didn't cut me.

Cons: First boot was a failure. I was very worried that the board was DOA, but remembered other reviews mentioning the 4 DIMM problem. Popped two out and was good to go.

When I tried to update the bios, I couldn't get anything from the ASRock website to work.

Out of frustration I popped the ram back in and it worked without BIOS update. This was using a 64bit OS.

Other Thoughts: Big, albeit, impromptu upgrade from my Biostar TF520 A2+.

I ordered a 125w CPU without checking compatibility first, had to order this to replace it.

Stupid mistake on my part, but I'm more than satisfied, and with and extra PCIE slot there's now room to grow.

Specs:

ASRock 1790GXH
AMD Phenom X4 9750 Agena
XFX Radeon 5770 1GB
G.Skill DDR2 800 4gb
XClio Goodpower 500w

4 out of 5 eggsupgrade bios

Pros: does everything its supposed to after bios upgrade

Cons: had to upgrade bios for it to recognize four sticks of ram

Other Thoughts: installed cpu, four sticks of 1 gig corsair xms ram and it wouldn't even post. checked everything than tried removing two sticks and it booted and ran fine. I knew the ram was good so I updated the bios from 1.20 to the latest 1.50 and it recognized all the ram and has been doing great for two days now. Go figure

3 out of 5 eggslots of potential, disappointing execution

Pros: Nice BIOS.

Cons: Uses ATI instead of NVIDIA for the on-board video. S/PDIF optical out not supported by ALSA as of Ubuntu 9.04. 533 MHz DDR2 memory (KIngston) only runs at 400 MHz. Absolutely worthless technical support.

Other Thoughts: The DVI output is hugely flawed - there is an awful snow artifact in the output that is very apparent against any dark background, but that's not even the worst problem: the output cuts out completely as soon as there is any graphics load (try running glxgears at any reasonable size). I thought this was a problem specfic to ASRock, and possibly even that specific board, but I've seen the same problem on every board I've bought that has the ATI chips (ASRock, Asus, Gigabyte). I wrote a very technically detailed description of the problem to their tech support, and they didn't even have the courtesy to write back and tell me that it is a hardware problem with the ATI chips. And the fact that a bug this huge got pushed out in hardware is shocking. Shame on ATI. I wish someone would make an AMD board with NVIDIA for video.

Also, the proprietary fglrx drivers are a disaster. They fail to sync against the vertical refresh, so you get a huge shear artifact when watching video.
