5 out of 5 eggsGreat Board

Pros: The reason I purchased this was because my fiance's laptop died and she needed another computer quickly. I had an old computer from high school in the closet; everything on it was good except for the motherboard, which had been fried in an electrical storm. I purchased this board since it still had connectivity for legacy drives; and it was relatively inexpensive. I have generally been amazed at the overall durability of this ASRock board. The bios isn't fancy, but it is enough to get the job done. This board has worked like a charm for the past couple of years without any problems. I will likely invest in an ASRock board for my new build in the near future.

Cons: None, as this is a great board.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: None, wouldn't even Give the POST. But it did Look very Nice though.

Cons: First Came DOA, Sent a RMA, got a Refund, and Bought myself a BIOSTAR G41M7 LGA 775 Intel G41 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard, Haven't had a Problem with that One since.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. ASRock mainboards are fully tested to assure that they're working before shipped. Unfortunately, due to nature of electronic product, it can happen.
For the future reference, pre-trouble shooting can be done by below steps with known good components;
Turn the power off.
Remove the mainboard from inside computer to outside, place the mainboard on top of the empty mainboard’s box
Clear the CMOS
Check the mainboard’s CPU socket pins are normal (should not be bent)
Reseat the CPU with heatsink fan as well if socket pins are normal
Test with single memory module (non-ECC, un-buffered), try with another known good memory if its same issue.
Plug monitor to onboard VGA
Plug the 24 pins + 4 pins ATX power
Plug the chassis power switch to mainboard's system panel power header, and try again
As always, we appreciate your purchase and constructive reviews are welcome.

Thank you

5 out of 5 eggsUsing several of these, work great

Pros: I have 4 or 5 of these mobo's in several of our PC's here. Bought another one just recently to replace what I thought was a bad mobo of another brand. Turns out it was a RAM dimm that had gone south. Replaced the RAM and this mobo is stable as the steel building we are in. :) This is even an updated version of the others of the same board that are in some of the other PC's.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Newegg got it to me fast. :)

Glad I can still get the older DDR2 ram based boards so only had to swap the board in the PC, moving the CPU and RAM and replugging everything in. Was done in about a half hour and back up and running.

4 out of 5 eggsNot XP friendly

Pros: Can't beat the price.

Cons: Unless you already have all service packs on a disk or already downloaded somewhere the MB drivers get errors when installing a fresh copy of XP. I tried to source out all updates and got tired of jumping over hurdles with XP and installed Vista. No driver errors with Vista at all with this MB.

Other Thoughts: 2 gigs of RAM and an old spare graphics card is perfect for my girlfriend listing items on the internet. For 50 dollars It's a good deal to getting an older non-working computer working again.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Motherboard

Pros: Easy installation, easy setup. I installed this board into a Win 98 case along with a Celeron Processor, 4GB ram and a 500GB hard drive with a hard drive dock on the front. This mobo has helped expedite countless DoD formats and will make a great imaging station when the time comes.

Cons: none

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Solid board. Easy setup. I have built two of these over the last three months

Cons: On completing the second board, I powered it up and let it run for half an hour using a live dvd. Shut down and rebooted. After fifteen minutes the screen displayed a yellow tint. Seems there was some oil or something in the onboard vga connector which cleaned out with some contact cleaner. If I didn't have the contact cleaner, it would have been an RMA.

1 out of 5 eggsComplete Junk

Pros: None

Cons: Arrived DOA. Only found out about this after trying 3 different CPUs and several different RAM sticks. Unfortunately by this time it was outside of NewEgg's return period and also outside the ASRock's warranty period. Now they want $50 (plus shipping to them) to repair the board.

Other Thoughts: Don't make the same mistake I did, purchase a board that has at least a 3 year warranty - like Foxconn (which are around the same price).
This will be the last ASRock purchase I make and do not recommend it to anyone

3 out of 5 eggsMixed Feelings

Pros: Awesome speed in this compact board. Easy install and everything onboard. Easy bios setup.

Cons: A few days after I got this board, the Ethernet went out on it. I restored to saved initial install and Ethernet started working again. I thought it might be a conflicting driver; but a few days later, it stop functioning again. I was unable to restore function this time and put in a E-card and it works great. I did purchased 2 yr warranty with board. if there are any other issues I will return board at that time.

Other Thoughts: The bad Ethernet is not a plus, but I'm very please with the board and its functionality other than that. I think for the price it's an awesome buy; just make sure you get the warranty.

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsgreat upgrade board for older CPUs

Pros: Great board to bring older computers up to some new spec hardware without having to buy all new parts.

Loved having IDE and SATA controllers.

Can make use of existing DDR2 ram.

Cons: My older MB was using 4 sticks of RAM. Two more slots would have made this board perfect.

Other Thoughts: My 3rd AsRock MB build in the last couple months and all have been without a hitch.
