3 out of 5 eggsCheck your CPU has GPU

Pros: I rated this a little low in hopes that it will get read. Really this is an excellent board. An over clockers play thing.

Easy to setup and has 2 x16 Slots. You can even use the second slot for something other than a Video Card. Like a good raid card to give you high speed disk access.

Cons: On board video is not really on-board. If you plan on using the on-board video you should be careful to get a CPU that has a GPU embedded in it.

I ordered a Xenon CPU that does not have a GPU on board. So the on-board Video did not function. It would have been nice if someone would have run into this before but I guess no one did or they did not want to admit it. ASR support did not question the CPU when I told them of my issue. (continued in Other thoughts)

Other Thoughts: The system would not boot and gave 2 beeps then 8 beeps. I was able to figure out that it had something to do with the video but it pointed to memory as the issue. ASR support just said update the Bios & try again. That did not help.

I then RMA'd the board. It somehow it got lost. Love that! I needed to get this system up and running so I looked to order another. While doing that, I noted the fact that the MB said there was no GPU that made me look at the other 1156 processors and most have GPUs but the one that I had did not. So I purchased one that did(Intel Core i3-530 Clarkdale) and when the new MB & CPU showed up, I tested both the Xenon and the New i3. The Xenon did not boot,it had the same issue as before. It would boot if I added a Video Card. The i3 Booted right up no issues.

5 out of 5 eggsI'm honestly impressed!

Pros: 1. easy to setup. great owners manual.
2. (5) sata inputs
3. supports intel's turbo-boost
4. (4) ram slots up to 16gb
5. hdmi and optical out
6. plenty of usb headers
7. instant boot (+-5 second boot)
8. one click overclocking from bios.
9. instant bios flash

Cons: none so far.

Other Thoughts: My former 775 XFX board's IDE port crashed, which gave me an excuse to upgrade my core2duo rig. Anyway, my last two builds, were full size atx boards. This time, I wanted to build a fast rig, but downsize some of the hardware. After doing about a month of extensive research, the H55 pro came out on top. This is an awesome board! I dropped the i7-870 in, 6 gigs of ram, and she booted right up, with no problems. I'm running Windows 7, and I haven't had a single problem. Forget sli or x-fire; the H55 won't cut it. Go with the P55 board. My build:

Intel i7-870 2.93 cpu
Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
ASrock H55M Pro mb
(2) Western Digital Black Caviar 1TB hard drives
6gb Edge Tech DDR3 1333 240 pin memory
CoolerMaster Hyper 212 cpu heatsink
BFG Gtx260 Maxcore 55 OC (216 cores)
CoolerMaster Elite 335 ATX case

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great! Just don't use auto OC.

Pros: Overclocks great! I'm very happy with it. I got some mixed reviews about it at first, but now that I have it I couldn't be happier. Wish it supported SLI and crossfire, but ya can't have everything you want with such a great price right?

I paired this board up with the i5-750. Runs like a charm.

Cons: This isn't a huge con, but I found the board to be a tad unstable with the automatic overclocking feature which is set on by default. Still worth 5 eggz

Other Thoughts: Make sure you go into the bios and change the Overclocking from "auto" to "manual" - don't overclock unless you know what you're doing of coarse.

Also - The voltage control is set to automatic. I particularly didn't like the Vcore to be set on auto. It was jumping around from .9-1.3. My personal opinion is that for max stability you want everything to be set in stone.

1 out of 5 eggsWouldn't POST

Pros: This board got great reviews and was a good fit for my i5-760 cpu.

Cons: It did not work when it arrived, or I failed to accurately diagnose the problem. This is the first motherboard I could not get to work and I've built about 12 machines. Lack of an onboard speaker made it difficult to troubleshoot.

Other Thoughts: If you need to use onboard graphics for this board (in my case for troubleshooting), you must ensure you are using an Intel cpu with the HD graphics instruction set built in. In my case I could not use the on-board graphics because the i5-760 doesn't support HD graphics. Since the board didn't POST with a known-good video card I was out of options quickly. This was my first RMA with Newegg and they were great about it.

1 out of 5 eggshorrible, horrible,horrible

Pros: none

Cons: have had nothing but problems with this board after three different boards. Memory problems twice and video the second time. Will not read the memory and gave an 8 beep error code upon boot up. Stay away from this company. Will build several hundred custom built computers a month and our company will never use this company again.

4 out of 5 eggsCan work with Linux

Pros: Fairly cheap board that does what it needs to do. I bought it for the price / form factor. Installation was painless; all questions were easily answered by peeking into the manual.

Cons: Can't really think of any. I haven't run into any problems at all yet.

Other Thoughts: I was able to boot Ubuntu 10.04 on this board, but I have put in a standalone video card as well. Previous version of the OS didn't quite work. So, this board is potentially viable for Linux users if they don't plan to stick with the onboard video.

4 out of 5 eggsMissed it by - THAT much

Pros: High grade capacitors.
4 DDR3 slots (great feature for a micro ATX board)
External 1394a, SATA, and HDMI connectors.
Instant Boot feature (using S3 and S4 together) is pretty cool.

Cons: No PATA or Floppy headers which reduces the versatility of this product.

Other Thoughts: Looks like many manufacturers are moving away from legacy connectivity at an increased rate, relying more on USB and SATA to be the backbone of peripheral communication.
This is leaving a void for established, reliable peripherals.
*RANT* I would much rather see 1394a eliminated (since USB 3 is here), and keep the PATA connectivity.
And yes, some business still use floppy disks.
I know one that programs CNC machines with floppy disks, and another that uses them for embroidery programming.
**RANT - part 2** The OS writers also need to accept hardware handoff from the system instead of trying to utilize proprietary drivers.
For example, why is your USB keyboard, mouse, and external storage device fully recognized and utilized at the B.I.O.S level, and when you boot into your OS, those same devices may not work because of a device driver issue?
The OS writers should utilize basic hardware handoff communications 1st, then load drivers for proprietary purposes.
(end of RANT)

1 out of 5 eggsTotal flop

Pros: Nice configuration, though it would be nice if they had a standard mouse port.

Cons: I followed the directions but making sure the RAM was in the white slots and I flashed the BIOS first. That worked fine. The system booted to Windows 7 once, but shut down in the process. I could never get it to boot from anything beyond that, even resetting the CMOS twice....two DVD drives, two flash drives and two hard drive. The BIOS must be the culprit. It does not even save settings between boots.

I give Newegg credit, they willingly credited me for the board.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Adequate onboard graphics, multi-monitor support works great, decent price, easy setup. Runs fine under Win XP.

Cons: Random blue-screens, browser (IE, Firefox) crashes, and general instability under Windows 7, regardless of BIOS Ver 1.x or 2.0, or driver version from Asrock or distro CD. Games fail to install or run properly, due to general OS instability.

Avoid this MB if you plan to run Windows 7 until this problem is resolved. (5 June 10)

No IDE HD/CD/DVD legacy device support

Other Thoughts: Driver disc crashes the reboot process during driver install. Get it together Asrock - this is a pitiful attempt at integration.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Was easy to install. I was afraid my enormous video card would pose a problem but it wasn't a problem at all. The utilities that come with it are nice: intelligent energy saver, quick boot, easy overclocking. I haven't used the on-board video so I can't comment on that.

Cons: None.
