4 out of 5 eggsWorks well, but limited

Pros: I bought this board when my previous ASRock board went belly-up during a firmware upgrade. It's hybrid DDR2 DDR3 ability makes it an excellent choice for those on limited budgets who need to upgrade components one at a time, which is exactly what I did.

Updating the firmware using the Instant Flash in the BIOS worked flawlessly. v1.40 -> v1.60

Cons: The 7.1 surround sound does NOT work in any version of Ubuntu. Stereo output only. Mic Jack works.

Adaptec 29160N SCSI card does NOT work with this board. The board refuses to POST 99% of the time. The 1% works great, but this configuration is NOT reliable. I disabled serial ports, parallel ports, removed other cards and drives... nothing worked. I read that the AMI BIOS could be the culprit but even after updating the firmware to v1.60 the result was the same.

Other Thoughts: A SCSI card must work for my home business to run. Tape Drives are used for archiving data and HD's aren't as cheap to run as tape. Using an older Adaptec 2940UW has been acceptable, but the 29160 is a much faster card. The card not working correctly in this board is disappointing to say the least.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

Pros: Have yet to have a problem. Love the Bios, and the on-board Vid card is very handy when my quest for a New Gaming Card began. Love it had an IDE port on it as-well, made my cannibalizing a lot easier and saved me a bunch.

Cons: N/A

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for the price!

Pros: Micro ATX, DDR3 ram compatible up to 8gb with dual channel ram. AM2 to AM3 compatibility. Can work with the phenom II X6.

Cons: I don't see any not for the price at least :)

Other Thoughts: Gave me no problems at all to setup with an Athlon II X4 and I can upgrade to a phenom II X6 eventually :D I'm really happy with this purchase it is perfect for the price

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: ive been building my own pc's for years now from high end gaming to your basic media comps. for the almost non existent am2 boards available i bought 2 of these for the kids computers out of the selection i was given. well worth the money. i havent had any issues with this board and am very happy with it and it also gives the option for any easy upgrade with it being universal to am3 also. great buy.

Cons: wish the board would support more than 8 gigs of total memory.

2 out of 5 eggs3 weeks and no help from ASrock

Pros: Cheap. Multiple CPU model compatibility

Cons: Died after a month, sound from motherboard is choppy.

Other Thoughts: I contacted ASRock for a replacement and I still haven't heard back from them about getting a new Motherboard. I am disappointed about their service. It has been about 3 weeks to a month and no reply.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear AsRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. For the sound issue, please download the driver at "http://www.asrock.com/mb/download.asp?Model=N68C-S UCC", check the other applications causing the sound to choppy. Please install fresh Windows with mainboard drivers and see if its solved the issue. For the replacement, please contact our customer service at 909-590-8308. We can assist you shortly.
Thank you

5 out of 5 eggsSolid board for the money

Pros: Works great, I simply bought this motherboard as an upgrade to a Frankenstein computer I was hosting a Minecraft server on. This board ran on two different processors non-stop for months and hasn't caused me any trouble. It ran Windows XP and Ubuntu 64-bit workstation with no hassle at all. I would highly recommend this board to anyone looking for a budget upgrade.

Cons: Very few that I can think of, if any at all. One thing that was a bit upsetting at first was that it only had one hard drive IDE port but that was only because of the ancient parts I had in it before upgrading. Really not an issue at all. Another is that it is so small but what else would you expect from a micro ATX?

Other Thoughts: Has the tiniest bit of flex in my case, but hasn't affected anything performance wise.

3 out of 5 eggsDied after a month.

Pros: Easy install, nice BIOS settings, Core Unlocking is easy to set up.

Cons: Breaks down quick, not as reliable as advertised.

Other Thoughts: I hopefully can get this motherboard replaced under the warranty. Worked in the morning and later the same day stopped working completely, ran a thousand RAM tests and software analysis and it was a motherboard issue. I replaced that model with a different one.
