1 out of 5 eggsBoard just died

Pros: This is a unique board that I had hoped would allow me to upgrade to an AM3 chip and DDR3 RAM. I'm currently still running an AM2 chip (phenom II) and DDR2 RAM. While it worked, it worked well enough. The OC options and other BIOS features are laid out well. The Board also has a good layout, although the CPU mount is setup for a front-to-back airflow rather than a down-to-up airflow. It's a good board if you have an old AM2/AM3 chip sitting around and don't care if it lasts more than 2 years.

Cons: Over the last 9 months, I've been experiencing occasional blue-screens and random lockups. This turned into a weekly problem, then quickly turned into a daily problem, then hourly. I replaced the Motherboard, keeping all of the same other components, and the system is solid again. This is the third Asrock board to fail on me. That's actually 3 out of 3 asrock boards to fail on me. The first one failed while still under warranty. It was RMA'd and the replacement failed, too, but outside of warranty. I want to support the brand, but this is going to be my last asrock board.

Other Thoughts: I'm disappointed that this board died in just over 2 years worth of use. I replaced it with a 7-year-old board that is still going strong. I guess it isn't much of a problem, since AMD changed their 'latest gen' chips for a different form factor, making an upgrade to AM3/ddr3 moot. If I upgrade, I'll need a new board, anyway.

3 out of 5 eggsMother Board

Pros: Great board for the price, easy overclock, supports 125Watt quad core CPU and AM3.

Cons: After a few weeks of use, the board will not read all my ram, returned my ram thinking that was the problem, but still will not read. I get bsod's sometimes, and only can use 2 2gb sticks of ram in the first 2 slots, if I try in the other side, computer will not boot. I'm sure I can send it in to get fixed, just couldn't at the time because I was in college and needed it.

Other Thoughts: Overall I like asrock, I have no problems against them, they seem to be glad and fix an issue, and are coming out with really sweet mother boards.

2 out of 5 eggsNever Again ASRock

Pros: it was cheap and New Egg delivered.

Cons: rear USB hubs were 1.0 not 2.0. as advertised. No 2.0 drivers. Only two internal connectors provided 2.0 functionality. Slow Sata transfers. Sometimes ran into difficulty running 5 sata drives. PCIe slots too close to run Crossfire. Really bothered about the USB issue and embarrassed I never noticed until 7 months out of warranty. driver support is poor. i will never buy another ASRock board. Back to purchasing boards with minimum 3 year warranty.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. The mainboard supports USB 2.0 out of the box. However, it requires the USB 2.0 device to optimize the speed.
The PCIE slots are complied with standard CrossFireX specification to meet the market's VGA cards and its bridge.
As always, we appreciate your purchase and constructive reviews are welcome.
If you have any technical issues or warranty questions please contact our Tech Support at http://www.ASRock.com/support/tsd.asp. We can assist you shortly.

Thank you

5 out of 5 eggsTotally satisfied

Pros: This mobo is more affordable than comparable boards from other brands.

Cons: None yet.

Other Thoughts: I was a little leery purchasing from a brand I wasn't familiar with, but the price tag drew me in. I've had this board for a year now and have had zero issues whatsoever.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Can’t beat it for the price. This was a build for my son his first DIY build for him everything went well would purchase again if i were to do a budget build or something like that

Cons: Didn’t like the overclocking software that came with it. Tried to use the 1st PCI express slot to install a sound card the heat sink blocked it.

Other Thoughts: It’s been running for over a year with no problems have never had the blue screen of death I can’t beat the value
