5 out of 5 eggsAlmost 3 years and going strong

Pros: Picked this board up to pair w/ an Intel i5-2500 for moderately priced gaming rig at the time. Haven't had any issues whatsoever. Use all 4 RAM slots & the PCIe 2.0. Overall a solid, no frills MOBO.

Cons: None that i can think of. Although someone else mentioned not "installing all" w/ the bios. i only installed what was necessary and haven't had any issues.

Other Thoughts: Pleased w/ the purchase almost 3 years later.

1 out of 5 eggsShoddy memory slots

Pros: um...

Cons: Bought one of these for my first ever build, after about 3 months I started getting pfn list errors, then finally the computer wouldn't post at all until I removed one of my ram sticks, so the board would only work if I had one ram stick in one of the four slots. I got an RMA, the person ignored what I'd told them I'd already done and had me do things like update bios, check connections, etc.

Finally got the replacement after spending $20 to send it to california. Install everything. Still doesn't post unless I only have one stick of ram, this time in the 3rd or 4th slot. Finally get everything booted up and I get an uncorrectable hardware error after running for about 10 minutes. No response on the follow up tech support email I sent a few days ago. Never buying from ASRock again.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear AsRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. For the issue, please set the UEFI BIOS default, try with another known good memory to check if the symptom still occurs. If you have any technical questions or warranty issues in the future please contact us at user@asrockamerica.com

Thank you

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Nice looking, simple, overclocks well.

Cons: Only install the necessary drivers do not click on install all. Something on that Asrock disc is nasty and froze up my computer all the time. I know my way around Windows and cleaned up best I could. Had to reinstall windows and now am not having a single problem, and i only downloaded the intel and INF driver this time. This was a big headache, really disappointed that ASrock would include something this nasty. I have nothing against them offering some additional products and some people might actually want to try them but they should really make sure it's nothing so gnarly that you can't get rid of and it'll keep freezing ur pc. My guess is that it's something that was tracking my internet browsing habits because my computer was only freezing when i or any program would go online

Other Thoughts: Think i'm going Asus next time, Asrock needs to watch what kinda malicious bloatware they put on their disc, took me a while to figure out its from them.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Board

Pros: Excellent price; Good performance; Simple to OC;

Cons: Seems to be an issue with the ETRON USB 3.0 controllers whereby large file xfers from an external drive cause system hangs. It is rather annoying and there seems to be no fix, even with the latest drivers/BIOS. Annoying enough to ding an egg.

Other Thoughts: Other than the issue above, this has been an overall great board and a terrific value for the money. No SLI/Xfire capability, but I wasn't looking for that when I bought this thing.

Buy it, along with a 2500k and you definitely won't be disappointed!

5 out of 5 eggsGood for the money

Pros: Cheap, I bought it a year ago. Still running great with my 2500k sandy bridge. Honestly if you are building a gaming computer right now and don't want to shell out 800 for mobo/processor alone this with a 2500k is only about 300 bucks, easy setup and install, runs fast. The bios are nice and clean, you can actually use your mouse in them.

Cons: None still a year later.

Other Thoughts: I personally prefer no extra slot for SLI/crossfire on the mobo, I'm never going to shell out the money for a second video card, in the past I had the capability to run SLI just in case I wanted to, but I never did, its extra money that gets wasted in the long run. If you plan on running 3 or more monitors then SLI will help, if not don't even bother putting a motherboard with it in your case.

2 out of 5 eggsupdate bios for ivy please

Pros: nice looking board. It has a power and reset switch on the board with a simple debug for easy error code read.

Cons: I started out with error code 55 saying that I had no memory installed. checked the memory found that it was working fine. submitted a rma then found out afterwards that I needed an update on the bios. so I held off on returning the board. called asrock (warning... if you call at the end of the day you may not get any service) The told me that they would send me an updated bios chip. 5 days later I called again and they sent me a confirmation that they received my info and sent it the next day. Way to go there asrock. I put in the chip and no more error code 55. but i did get a code saying that no graphics card was installed. should have checked that before i fully installed the board. checked with 2 different cards that work and still not working. very frustrating. have sent this back and went with another brand.

Other Thoughts: a note should be placed stating that ivy bridge is not supported with out a bios update. I don't know if this falls on Newegg or asrock. I may still purchase from asrock but this will effect my choice.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear AsRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Due to the mainboard has been released before ivy bridge processor, the BIOS update is needed to recognizing the new processor. However, we glad to update the BIOS for customer by contacting us. Thank you for your purchase and review. If you have any technical questions or warranty issues in the future please contact us at user@asrockamerica.com

Thank you

5 out of 5 eggsNice mobo for the price

Pros: Have had no problems out of it, and the UEFI Bios is easy to navigate and understand. The pci slots, including the express slot are all tight, and will seat anything placed in them firmly from my experience. The raid card slot is positioned *ABOVE* the express slot, which is a great thing, as any decent video card you get will be 2 slots thick.

Also the SATA connectors are on a good place on the mobo, far away and down from the PCI express slot, so easy access to them to connect cabling

Cons: None that I have noticed

5 out of 5 eggsSo Far So Good

Pros: I used this board for a first time build at the recommendation of a friend. He was not mistaken in his choice, as I am very pleased on the performance. I downloaded the update for the BIOS and it boosted the performance while in it. Overall I have been very happy with this purchase and would recommend this board.

Cons: None at this time

5 out of 5 eggsEasy to use board

Pros: Easy overclocking.
Nice looking/simple BIOS UI.

Cons: Just one PCI 2.0 slot

Other Thoughts: Have been using this since last year with an i5-2500k. Was super easy to overclock (first time for me) and has been running smooth ever since.
