5 out of 5 eggsWorks great as a backup fileserver

Pros: This is a great motherboard working perfectly fine with no problems. The 8 x SATA 6Gb/s ports are more than standard, now also available with the FM2 AMD85+ chipset. Of course a PCI card can always be used for more SATA ports. I was able to sucessfully upgrade (flash) the BIOS to v2.00 with no problems. Everything works but then I am not stressing the system, no overclocking or gaming. It sits powered off most of the time holding my data.

Cons: None with this motherboard. Memtest86+ does not work perfectly on motherboards having a UEFI BIOS. They are waiting for the UEFI BIOS to become mainstream before they port their code so they do not have to maintain two sets of code.

Other Thoughts: Using this in a FreeNAS 8.0 backup fileserver. Combined with an A4 CPU and an NZXT Source 210 S210-001 case. The 8 SATA III ports are very useful for use as a fileserver. FreeNAS 8.0 recognizes the full 3TB drive I installed.

1 out of 5 eggsAS-ROCKS quit ROCKING for me twice

Pros: Price is great
System is very stable
Very easy set up and install
Very fast boot
Lots of connections to plug stuff into

Cons: Hmmmm how to say this nicely...it's kind of a 2 pump chump
it just doesn't last very long.... first one lasted about 2 months, I liked everything about it, until it started losing my ssd and would need to re-install drivers to get it boot up, put up with that for a few weeks when I lost video out the HDMI port VGA still worked tho but this was built for a HTPC and HDMI is what I wanted...I RMA'ed it back to As-rocks (at a cost of about 10 bucks to me) and received back another MB that was pretty obviously someone else RMA as it came with no installation Hardware(not a problem i had the old stuff) no manuals (once again no problem)no driver cd (once again no problem) but it came in a box that was turned inside out and was for a different MB completely(okay I had a bit of a problem here) and even came with little scratches around the screw holes from previous install and scratches on power plug in and other plug ins(okay I had a major problem here) and when the video quit working on this MB also after only 2 weeks well I have a Problem With that also, system still boots up and works great, just cant SEE anything

Other Thoughts: As-rocks customer service was great to work with, some girl named Stephanie needs a raise I'm thinking, very prompt emails and made the rma very simple, on the other hand I now have a "OPEN-Box previously used" product that I paid 10 bucks over full price for(when shipping of first MB is considered) and still have a computer that only a blind person could use, this would have been my 3rd asrocks computer with another planned very soon, now Im rethinking my MB manufacturer decision

Manufacturer Response:

4 out of 5 eggsLots of features...RMA

Pros: This board has so many features, I'm not going to list them... But I'm very impressed with it.

Cons: My first board had to be RMA'd... An SMD near the south bridge was poorly soldered and didn't make a connection 100% of the time. The replacement board is working perfectly however.

Other Thoughts: If you go through the process of RMA'ing a board through newegg be careful. I needed the board quickly so I did a refund/return then bought the board again. This voided the combos I had for buying this with a processor. Newegg would not honor the combo even though I bought the same exact board for the same exact price the same day.

After paying shipping 3 ways and losing the combo I could have bought the board and processor locally for cheaper.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: good features

Cons: DVI port was never tested before it was sent from fatory,several holes covered by hard plastic filler so you cant connect DVI cable, not very good quality control.

Other Thoughts: works good on HDMI but better with matching video card. Im using an A8 amd Quad core with an R6670 video card,4giggs DDR3-1600 crucial Ram and a 120MM cpu fan, temps around 76F.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear AsRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Sorry to hear the DVI port having issue. Please try with another known standard DVI cable to check if its fits to the port. Please visit the “ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Visual_Interface” to check appropriate connector has been connect to mainboard’s DVI port. 1 out of 5 eggs1.0 out of 5 stars No good for two sets of raid 0 drives,

Pros: August 30, 2012

Cons: Junkie Monkey (In the toilet bowel of the Mitten) - See all my reviews
This review is from: ASRock MB-A75EX6 Socket FM1/ AMD A75 FCH/ AMD Quad CrossFireX/ SATA3&USB3.0/ A&GbE/ ATX Motherboard (Personal Computers)
Fine with one set on raid 0 drives, but the second gets a tenth the write speed vs read 300 read with 3 striped green or 7200 spindles but 30 writ

Manufacturer Response:

Dear AsRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Please tell us more information about setting for two sets of RAID 0 drives due to mainboard supports one set of RAID controller by AMD. However, the read/write speed could be related to both controller and HDD. As always, we appreciate your purchase and constructive reviews are welcome. If you have any technical questions please contact us at http://www.asrock.com/support/tsd.asp. We can assist you shortly.

2 out of 5 eggsLater BIOS not compatible?

Pros: * Stable as long as I don't upgrade the BIOS beyond 1.60
* Very expandable
* Cheap
* Nice looking EFI interface

Cons: Upgrading the BIOS to 2.00 for my 3870K was an exercise in futility. Could not get it to fully POST unless I cleared the CMOS. And then only once. Go into EFI interface, set up boot order (and nothing else) and then it won't POST again. I was able to get into the built-in flasher to downgrade to 1.60 (the most recent version compatible with the 3870K) and then it worked agian. Leaving it here for now.

Other Thoughts: ASRock support is worthless. I emailed explaining all my troubleshooting steps and that 1.60 would POST with my CPU where 2.00 would not and all I got was a terse reply saying that the BIOS would not break my CPU. It just won't retain settings and still POST correctly with 1.90 or 2.00 but it will with 1.60. They didn't even give me a troubleshooting idea.

Also, their "official" forums are not monitored by ASRock so when I posted on OCWorkbench, I didn't find out for a while but they don't check in. But they link them on their website. Derp, guys. Just...derp. Never again with the ASRock.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear AsRock Customer

We sincerely apologize that you having difficulty with mainboard's BIOS. We do not recommend updating the BIOS if the system is working fine and which stated under BIOS download website. As this case, if the system become unstable with newer BIOS that should be flash back to previous BIOS version. As always, we appreciate your purchase and constructive reviews are welcome. If you have any technical questions or warranty issues please contact our Tech Support at 909-590-8308. We can assist you shortly.

Thank you

4 out of 5 eggsAlmost awesome...

Pros: Nice big board, lots of connections, lots of memory options and sizes. BIOS was easy to work with. Booted without issue and runs very stable.

Cons: Absolutely hate the SATA connections. They are sideways on the far edge of the board. The connections are tight up against my hard drive cage. I would chalk it up to case/board not working well together but it's true of all of my cases. I had to remove the board, make the connections, then tip it and work it in place. If they would have had the connectors facing up like all others I've used, would be a 5 star board.

Other Thoughts: Used on a FreeNAS 8.0 box.
