1 out of 5 eggsDOA!

Pros: Looks like it'd be a nice motherboard if it worked.

Cons: Dead on arrival. Sometimes wouldn't boot at all, other times would get as far as the initial boot screen with the ASRock logo, but there were weird vertical artifacts flickering across the screen, it would not respond to any keypresses (tried two keyboards, one PS/2, one USB), and it never got any further than that. The CPU, RAM, power supply, etc. all work fine with another lower-end ASRock motherboard.

Other Thoughts: I'm sending this back for replacement and I'll update my review when I get the new one.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize that you having difficulty with mainboard. ASRock mainboards are fully tested to assure that they're working before shipped. Unfortunately, due to nature of electronic product, it can happen.
For the future reference, please trouble shoot the mainboard.
Turn the power off, clear the CMOS.
Remove discrete VGA card (if applied).
Plug monitor to onboard VGA.
Test with single memory module, try with another known good memory if it's same issue.
Please update replacement mainboard is working fine.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat! If it works...

Pros: Great features, good price
hdmi+dvi+vga
usb 3.0
hard to beat

Cons: Ordered two. One had a broken sata head, the other had a non-functional vga.

Other Thoughts: Rma'd the one with a busted vga, and used the one with the broken sata.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Hope replacement mainboard will solve the issue.

5 out of 5 eggsNice board

Pros: Perfect feature set for my media center PC build. Installed and set up easily running smooth for a week now. Paired this board up with an A8-3870K and 8 gig of corsair vengeance ram in a Silverstone GD05B htpc enclosure. Really liking the UEFI bios. First board I have worked with that uses it and so far I like it a lot.

Cons: Apparently does not support Wake on LAN would have been useful for remotely powering on for those last second dvr assignments.

Other Thoughts: Shipped with 1.10 bios be sure to update to current 1.90 bios release. All in all I am very happy with this board. It has everything I was looking for in a board for my Media PC build. Price was very good and the build went off without a single hiccup. Already mentioned but I will restate that hard drive mode in the bios by default is IDE make sure to change that to AHCI to take advantage of the extra features. Also if you update the bios you will need to change the setting again. Bios update defaults it back to IDE. On the subject of hard drives, I paired this with a Samsung 830 series 64 gig SSD as the system drive and utilized a 2 TB Seagate 5900 RPM drive for storage duties. Boot to desktop and restart times are incredibly fast using this configuration. If you looking to get close to instant on type performance definately use an SSD for your system drive.

1 out of 5 eggsGraphic Artifacting

Pros: seems to be a decent enough deal, if your forunate enough to get a working one.

Cons: As near as I can guess, there was a faulty northbridge processor or a memory controler on the board. From second one I started getting graphical artifacts even from as early on as booting. Obviously the problem wasn't with windows install.

computer was operable, but would continually crash without warning, sometimes to a total reboot, other times to graphical artifacting and total freeze up.

RMA's it, and ordered a Biostar board for 20$ more. Worked fine first try.

Other Thoughts: spend the extra 20$, buy a better board. It will cost less in the long run. I lost 1 1/2 weeks of time, and a lot of pain, totally NOT WORTH IT.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear AsRock Customer

We sincerely apologize that you having difficulty with mainboard. In some cases, its memory compitable issues, CPU over heated , and/or power supply not providing enough power. However, we appreciate your purchase and review.

5 out of 5 eggsNew ASRock fanboy here

Pros: I was looking for a Hudson D3 board, and the PConline – Editor’s Choice Award made me give this on a second look. As for the main feature set, well eSATA, USB3, HDMI/DVI/DSub, and 4 memory slots, did it for me. Paired it with an unlocked AMD A6-3670K as a bundle (thanks NewEgg), and two 8GB dual channel memory kits for a quasi-budget build for Mom and Dad. They won't know what to do with this much power.

Build quality is solid too. Good connectors, caps, heatsinks, etc. Flexible power connections a plus though I didn't need with the PSU I used. Good documentation (driver disk has the full version of the user guide as a PDF).

Cons: Micro ATX. On the other hand get a nice micro ATX case and you end up with a nice compact PC.

SATA doesn't default to ahci mode. In ASRock's defense they do have a note in the manual pointing it out, which I missed. If you install windows first, and then want to change you have to enable the service with a reghack, or reinstall.

Other Thoughts: I have used quite a few brands of MoBo over the years, but this is my first ASRock. Probably won't be my last. So happy I will probably re-purchase most of the same kit for the start of the build to replace my wife's aging PC.

Some people have said the BIOS is clunky/slow, but it has an amazing amount of information and flexibility which make it well worth it for me.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Fusion Board

Pros: Great board, love the high memory capacity. Not a huge fan of the mouse-oriented interface, but I love the options available for overclocking and tweaking. My OC knowledge isn't all that great, but I brought my A8-3870k from 3.0 to 3.5 GHz effortlessly and bumped the gpu clock by another 300 MHz. Did I say I love the memory capacity? Can't go wrong with 32 gigs and over 2000MHz support. Very versatile with power support as well, can do 8 or 12 pin, and 20 or 24 pin power. USB3 and Sata 6gbs are all great features. It's really future-proof

Cons: Don't make the same mistake I did and think that it has USB 3 headers, it does not. It was 3 usb 2.0 headers and some USB 3.0 ports, but if you have a case with a front panel with USB 3.0, you're going to have to convert or pull a cable through the back ports. Mouse interface is slow and clunky, but this is really not a big deal.

Other Thoughts: For the money, this is probably the best option for a Fusion chip. It seems very future proof, supporting all the latest technologies, 2xPCIE, lots of memory, and HDMI1.4a

5 out of 5 eggsNice HTPC bbard

Pros: I really like this board for a new AMD A8 Fusion build. The esata and USB 3.0 along with integral HDMI and Radeon 6500 graphic make for a great media center pc. The packaged utilities allow for great optimization and overclock.

Cons: Make sure you upgrade the bios. Mine came with the original V1.1 and it wouldn't wake from s3 standby. New version fixed that. I bought this with a basic Rosewill box and power supply. It turned out that I had to replace the power supply as this board needs the 8pin 12V connector (or 2 four pin) and I'd recommend at least a 500w. Had to de-select "dynamic contrast" in the video settings to remove an annoying flicker in the HD playback.

Other Thoughts: This board is the center of a really nice little HTPC build using the unlocked AMD Fustion A8. I paired this with a Silicon Dust HD Homerun 3 tuner box with Cablecard. Once I got the Comcast cable card configured, I could tune/watch three separate channels including premium (HBO). With stock configuration and cooler, the Quad core CPU is running 32 degrees. HDMI video and audio work perfectly.

1 out of 5 eggsJunk

5 out of 5 eggsEffortless cpu+ram overclock, handles 32GB

Pros: One of the few mobos which explicitly handle 32GB.
Effortlessly overclocked A8 8450 to 3.6 Ghz and 32GB DDR3 1333 to 1600.

Cons: I'm not a fan of the (slow) mouse interface, but not a big deal.
