1 out of 5 eggsOkay While it Lasted

Pros: Got my First build started and running for about a month.

Cons: The CMOS on this baby gave up right after the 30 day warranty.

Other Thoughts: The hyper 212 heatsink didn't fit like it was supposed to.
Fits awkwardly in my case as well. (not sure who is at fault there)

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsGood for its price

Pros: Does the job, minimal problems so far
fancy box
pci express lock-ins are cool

Cons: audio inputs and outputs sometimes drop out for a split second, but I'm looking into that.

Other Thoughts: Picked this up for ~70$ and everything works just fine, other than the one con I mentioned above, it's barely noticeable, and other than that, it's great overall. I'd definitely recommend if you're looking for something within this price range.

Some of sata ports are stacked on top of each other instead of being side by side, so you should consider if you have enough room to weasel your sata cables in.

5 out of 5 eggsI'm not much of a tech-head, but...

Pros: I used this board as a new build for a general purpose rig w/ moderate gaming in mind. Works perfectly. I don't care about overclocking or any of that stuff with this rig. Board is working as it should.

Cons: So far, none.

Other Thoughts: I SLI'd two GTX 550Ti's and the board runs these w/o any complaint. For what I intended this rig to be it more than meets my needs.

5 out of 5 eggsGood board Amazing company

Pros: Sli.Price,Memory Standard, CPU support,

Cons: my PCIE 16's started to fail after about six months.

Other Thoughts: I love the company slots started failing, I started the RMA process Monday and recieved a new board Friday. Great company to deal with. I think they will go far in the motherboard game.

1 out of 5 eggs4 months then a cloud of dust

Pros: in-expensive

Cons: After 4 months, I would boot my computer, fans would come on, lights on the cpu cooler would come on, but nothing else. I check power cables to the board, checked power output from my PSU, stripped the motherboard down, reset the cmos and tried again same issue.
fortune would have it I bought the board from another vendor and they have a 30 day return policy, so I am at the mercy of Asrock, they told me i should have check the CPU compatible list. 8350 FX is not supported, i was told it was. Even the box says it supports the latest 8-core cpus.
I bought a lemon.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
Sorry to hear that mainboard has malfunctioned after 4 months which’s due to nature of electronic product, it can happen.

3 out of 5 eggsNot bad... Not great.

Pros: +Runs two GPUs in crossfire/SLI at 8x8 instead of 16x4
+Easy to use bios (MSIs is better though)

Cons: -This MB is compatible with the 8 core FX CPUs. However, I do not recommend this set up. This MB gets very hot on the back while using my 8320 even with an aftermarket CPU cooler and Arctic Silver 5. If your case does not have ventilation on the back or top(maybe) you're going to be getting up into the 72 degree range while playing BF4. This is where most AMD CPU/Motherboard will throttle to reduce heat and preserve themselves. This will cause FPS drop in games regardless of your GPU.
-The NB chip-set on this MB also gets super hot for some reason. The heatsink doesn't seem to be adequate.

Other Thoughts: I would recommend the FX-6300 with this board. It uses less power, and might give you a better result than I'm getting with the 8320. If you absolutely must have an 8 core, I would recommend getting a 990FX

2 out of 5 eggsWorst experience in over 25 years

Pros: Nice layout, good # of ports, including eSATA, good price point.

Cons: Poor heatsink design for supporting components (power regulation).

Other Thoughts: First MB failed 60 days into its life by loosing all audio. Replacement from ASRock is very unstable and will not run for over 30 minutes without totally powering off. Power button ends in "E8", no boot, no video. Must power cycle the power supply itself, on/off/on to get the unit to boot again. Windows Event Viewer unable to record the actual failure (indicating it was a hard/hardware failure), yet shows a Critical "Windows did not shut down properly" event upon boot.
Endless hours of research and reading found that the heatsink over the power regulation circuitry was not doing it's job, because once I focused a fan on to it, flooding the area between the CPU and rear connectors, the unit runs without issue. Prime95 Torture Test for 16 hours now and counting.

This is housed in a Thermaltake v3 Black chassis, extra fans, and a Thermaltake 850w Smart M power supply.
I have never been so disappointed with a motherboard manufacturers Repair department in missing this one.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
For the issue, please set the UEFI BIOS default.
Check the CPU is not overheating.
Allow better air circulation around VRM area to avoid overheating.
If you have any technical issues please contact us at http://www.ASRock.com/support/tsd.asp. We will assist you shortly.

Thank you

3 out of 5 eggsBrowsers Freeze Randomly

Pros: OC features for RAM and CPU work very well. Didn't have any problems installing all my components.

Cons: For some reason if I use any other browser than IE11 (desktop mode), they will completely freeze my PC randomly for about a minute or so. I have not gotten it to go away after refreshing and reinstalling windows. I'm pretty positive my other components are working just fine and I am assuming the only thing it could be now is my motherboard.

Other Thoughts: I'm sure this board is pretty good, I've just had bad luck with it. Ill probably be buying a different one here soon.

4 out of 5 eggsAsrock 970 Extreme4

Pros: Good enough for what I bought it for.

Cons: None yet.

Other Thoughts: I bought this for my son who is mostly interested in producing music. I got it for $45 on e-bay.

I an writing this just to say "please don't buy this to run an 8 core FX CPU !!! If you are going to get an 8150 or 8350 please go to a 990 chipset. Just because it says it says you can run it with one doesn't mean that it's recommended and I am here to recommend that you run a 6 core at the most with a 970 chipset, I don't care what brand you by. I haven't checked but I would bet it only it a 4 + 1 phase board and even if you get lucky and get an 8 core to run if you plan on doing some real overclocking you will be disappointed.

Please do some research before you purchase the main component in your system, if you have been on any forum around you would have known that a 970 chipset is not recommended for an 8 core AMD CPU.

Having said all of that if you want to power a 4100 to 6150 then this would be as good an option as a lot of other boards out there.

All companies have DOA and failed products and every motherboard out there has reviewers who don't know what they are doing and send stuff back when the error is there own. Remember all of this when you buy anything computer related and you will be a lot happier with your purchases.
