5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: Tons of features at a great price. A board with this many features should be somewhere around the 300.00 USD range. This board at 159.00 Is great. I've bought 2 of these boards and will continue to use the ASRock brand.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Highly pleased with this board. ASRock has quickly became my first choice for motherboards. Outside of this board I've owned other ASRock boards and they have always been of the highest quality.

5 out of 5 eggsWow...Very Happy

Pros: I have owned Asus and MSI motherboards. They were decent, tho having lackluster options for overclocking. My expectation for a Mobo have been set by these. However, The 990FX Extreme 4 wow'd me, and exceeded my expectations. I already overclocked my 1100t Phenom 2 to 4Ghz with only 1.4v, with Cool n' Quiet active. The easy understanding bios, PCIe placement, and solid performance have really made me happy in choosing this brand.

Cons: The USB's are buggy using the bios with a wireless key and mouse. I have never had any issues before with using a wireless keyboard during the bios or POST. The USB 2.0 work fine, but USB 3.0 can only be used once Windows loads. Maybe this is an issue with all USB 3.0. This is my ONLY complaint.

Other Thoughts: Freaking great. Unfortunately I STILL cannot run my Corsair Vengence at 1866Mhz, until I purchase an AMD FX CPU. Increasing the HT Link that high causes instability. Not ASRock's fault, just a hardware limitation I was aware of before.

5 out of 5 eggsRan good first time!

Pros: Awesome Board. No problems at all. Fast performer after all! Easy install and setup. Runs best with the Phenom they are faster than the Bulldozer CPU's. Asrock Tech support has been awesome to me and answers in the first few rings. They are very supportive in all areas.

Cons: I just wish it had more Raid options settings for the kb block size that 64kb and 128kb. Raid-0. Other than that no cons! much faster raid performance than the Asrock 880FX Deluxe 5

Other Thoughts: If your board dies in a few weeks or stops booting. Due to poor power supplies, unclean power, or staic discharge destruction.
meaning runs for a while then dies or does something weird, is more than likely you had miss handled it. You Need A Static Ground Device to protect it from static electricity when handling it. Even very small amounts of discharge destroys the micro chips.

1 out of 5 eggsASROCK

Pros: It is a nice, overclockable Mobo when it runs. Good Luck with that though

Cons: Mobo catastrophically failed after 4 months. Fails to before it even posts. All other components have been isolated from the issue in another system. In addition, any mice or keyboard that have macro-funtions or more than standard number of keys will fail to be recognized by the BIOS. both my Razer and Logitech gaming mice and keyboards fail to run. I have had to designate this as my non-gaming, photoshop and solidworks system for that reason.

Other Thoughts: ASROCK customer service is far below par. I have tried to contact them 4 times regarding the USB issue and only receive a confirmation email from the tech department. No other replies. Still waiting on them for the dead Mobo. Cannot reach their tech departmet by phone. Terrible service for a tech company

Manufacturer Response:

Dear AsRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for the mainboard issue after 4 months of used. Please have a try clear the CMOS to factory default which located at rear I/O panel and place 1 stick memory only. If problem still exist please contact us with your detail about issue and complete contact information directly at http://www.asrock.com/support/tsd.asp. We'll assist you shortly.

Thank you

5 out of 5 eggsAsrock hit the nail on the head with this one...

Pros: First off, I don't usually buy these "enthusiast" grade motherboards. This board changed my mind. The 990FX is a great chipset. Coupled with the SB950 south bridge, I could tell this board meant business. I've seen reviews docking the color scheme, and while I do agree, it isn't the most appealing for many. I actually like the colors. The gold capacitors look gorgeous on this board. One of the great things about this board is you get the performance and overclocking features of upper-end boards, but get the compatibility and connectivity of previous generation boards. This board has a floppy and IDE interface which was huge for me. Also it has 8 SATA ports with 2 of them being controlled by a separate Marvell controller. This board also came with plenty of accessories. The UEFI BIOS was very nice and organized logically. Plenty of fan headers. This board is all about connectivity. Supports Bulldozer series, which I may upgrade if Microsoft ever improves Windows integration.

Cons: Very little and nitpicking. The 3rd PCI-E x16 slot is placed at this end of the board and should be swapped with the PCI slot before it. That way you can have Tri-Fire or Tri-SLI with three 2 slot graphics cards. Unless your case has and extra slot at the end (8 slots) you can't fit another graphics card. Not a big deal for me because I only have one but may upgrade to multiple down the road. Also, the BIOS flash screen is long, but I assume that is Dr. Debug running which is better to have than not. The manual for this board was written by someone that barely knows english. Many typographical errors but still readable. Also please note, that SATA_6 and SATA_7 run on a separate controller for independent RAID function. Also, the battery and clear CMOS jumper is UNDER the northbridge HS! Huge heat disaster. This could be because of the clear CMOS button on the back. Still, the last thing you want is the battery bleeding under the HSF where you cannot access.

Other Thoughts: Will buy Asrock again!

1 out of 5 eggsBuyer beware

Pros: Has plenty of features that some take for granted and extras for legacy support.

Cons: Complicated and slow bios at times.

Mine just died half an hour ago after barely 1,900 hours of use >.<

Other Thoughts: Don't buy this board expecting all to work as expected for the price and to last.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Board...

Pros: Great layout
SLI
Legacy Support
8 Core Ready (With Bios Update.)

Cons: Not a fault of the Board but on the Front Panel 3.5" USB card included with the board only 1 of the 2 slots work.

Other Thoughts: Overall I am extremely pleased with this board, the layout is great and support for legacy devices like older dvd roms is nice to have. Had issues with my previous NForce 780 board and my SSD drive, this board has no issues at all so far.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Mobo ;)

Pros: good motherboard :P If you need a motherboard that have everything and you need floppy and ide port this is the only one with the latest chipset ;)

Cons: no cons :P

Other Thoughts: !!!!before you install the motherboard, check the yellow sticker on the ide port and write the number on a paper.. just in case, because you will need this if you have an error :bios post like this: 1394guid are invalid in both cmos and flash. you will need 1394id software from asrock to fix that ;)

5 out of 5 eggsASROCK'S!!

Pros: I love this board! Future ready, so will be a viable board for years to come. Booted straight out of box. Has an amazing amount of features in one board including legacy support for IDE. High quality components. Onboard BIOS reset/power for getting the settings dialed in. Powerful BIOS overclocking options. SATA III, USB 3.0. 2 onboard RAID controllers.

Cons: BIOS still needs a minor but inconvenient fix. updated BIOS from 1.2 to 1.5 and still have to press F1 to continue as another reviewer said. Due to a 1394 (firewire) GUID in BIOS and FLASH are not alike/correct. This is minor to me considering the perfomance and features of this board. and i'm sure ASROCK will address this soon but wanted to let ppl know. Not enough, i felt, to lose any eggs. 6 SATA III ports connection is at an angle which makes connecting SATA cables a pain. This too is minor to me so no loss of eggs

Other Thoughts: Got this to be able to upgrade to 16+ gig RAM and SATA III SSD. And i am extremely happy. Glad i chose this over the less expensive Extreme3. I have been using ASROCK mobo's since ABIT went out and i have been happy with every one and this is the best so far. My x4 955 OC'd even higher to 3.8 with DDR3 1333. I chose OCZ vertex 3 SATA III 120GB and it performs very nicely.
