1 out of 5 eggsDOA; RMA; DOA again..

Pros: Flexible socket type, good bang for buck.

Cons: DOA. Ran through several bread board tests, all parts confirmed good, but board wouldn't post. RMA, got the replacement board, it's also DOA, won't post. Wish I would've written down the SN before RMA, as it's possible (I feel likely) that they just repackaged the mobo and sent the same one back, but regardless, two DOA boards. I'll never buy ASRock again.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Sorry to hear the second mainboard having same issue (DOA).
Please check other components (CPU, memory) that they are working properly.

Trouble shoot the mainboard whether the issue is resolved.
Unplug the ATX power, remove all components from mainboard.
Remove the mainboard from chassis, place it on mainboard’s box
Clear the CMOS.
Reseat the CPU and heatsink fan
Test with single memory module (non-ECC, un-buffered)
Test with onboard VGA
Plug the 24 pins + 4 pins ATX power
Plug the chassis power switch to mainboard, and try again

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Worked right out of the box, without any problems. It was even compatible with all the parts I had to work with.

Cons: Nothing to contribute in the line of "cons" so far.

Other Thoughts: I got this, as a cheap replacement for my uncle's fried MoBo, and it works better than the original, I was even able to put Windows 7 on it, and everything started up, and installed just fine.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Lot's of support in terms of physical hardware. Cheapish

Cons: Broke after about 4 months. Gotta love that ASROCK quality hardware. Will update after I try to use warranty.

Other Thoughts: If you can steer clear then do just that. However if you're forced to use older hardware (AM2/AM2+) then this is a good buy in terms of price. Everything else out there is pretty awful.

Manufacturer Response:

2 out of 5 eggsdied just out of warranty

Cons: Died on me. I've had it 1 year and 2 months, and as of today it's completely unresponsive; no beep codes or anything.

4 out of 5 eggsOk Motherboard for Budget Build

Pros: Worked right out of the box
Easy install
Supports AM3
PCI Express 2.0
Mini PCI
Price

Cons: First one died after 2 days
did not include mounting screws
States that you can OC, which you can, but will fry the board if you do.

Other Thoughts: Pretty good board for the price. Make sure that you install all of the necessary drivers once you boot windows. Also visit the Asrock website and download the latest bios as this will greatly improve performance. System crashed a couple of times while playing a game. After bios update no more crashes and performance increase.

5 out of 5 eggsVery reliable

Pros: Price, Reliability, Value

Cons: None for the money

Other Thoughts: About to hit the 2 year mark using this board. Never had a single problem with it. Actually about to buy another, it brought life to my desktop when I needed to rebuild. Going to build another with a new one and spare parts.

4 out of 5 eggsgood product worst customer support

Pros: good product matx light weight every feature works on mb

Cons: worst customer support, only through email, this guy name pablo answers questions which will humiliate you so if you don't need support, go with it.

Other Thoughts: Do not buy anything else unless you look at their website for memory and cpu support list, not every ddr2 and not every am2 am3 cpus work.

1 out of 5 eggsTwo failed MB's - Never again

Pros: It's a good feature set blending a bit of old tech and new tech. So for me, it was a good upgrade board (didn't want to upgrade my HD's just yet, still wanted the IDE headers).

Cons: Neither board worked. The board uses a 24 pin power connector. The manual clearly states that you can use a legacy 20-pin power connector so long as pin 1 lined up properly. I tried that, then the board fried (specifically a chip near the PCI slot). I'll admit that I probably should have just gotten a newer power supply, but the manual did say I could use my old one.

Declaring user error, I ordered a new board exactly the same as the first. I also ordered a new power supply with the 24 pin adapter. This motherboard wouldn't start at all. I confirmed that the power supply was working perfectly, the switch on my case was working and are all currently in use with a different (better) motherboard from a different manufacturer. For whatever reason, this motherboard wouldn't start. So I pulled it out of the case and tested again with the new power supply. Guess what? Same chip that fried on the other board fried...this time it melted the chip. So I RMA'd it and ordered a different board that I am much happier with.

Other Thoughts: I never RMA'd the first failed board - again operating under user error. But perhaps I should have. The manual on the motherboard I ended up with clearly advises against the use of anything but a 24 pin power supply. Perhaps if this manual had done the same, I wouldn't have even tried it.

There are a ton of people that have had great luck with this board. I just don't see it. It failed for me two times. And the second with a power supply that is confirmed to work and is currently in use on my new board.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

Remove the mainboard from chassis, place the mainboard on mainboard’s box
Clear the CMOS
Reseat the CPU and heatsink fan as well
Test with single memory module
Plug monitor to onboard VGA
Plug the 24 pins + 4 pins ATX power
Plug the chassis power switch to mainboard, and try again
