2 out of 5 eggsWhere to even begin.....

Pros: slick design, plenty of vga slots.

Cons: bought the board and after 10 minutes of running, it fried my liquid cooing system.(corsair h100) killed 2 sticks of ram, and toasted the on-board bios chips. i call costumer support. they said cannot support most of the LGA 2011 sockets such as ivy bridge E, ivy bridge, sandy bridge

Other Thoughts: Ive been waiting for new bios chips for about a week now. the least they can do is over night them to me. Every day my system is down i lose money...i shipped my fried h100 to corsair and they already shipped one back( 4 days total) while asrock cant even process one order that requires nothing other then placing a shipping label on the box...

Asrock Extreme7 X79 mb
Intel LGA2011 (4820k)
corsair vengeance DDR3 24GB(6x4GB)

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
Mainboard would not fried or damage the liquid cooling system since not directly related to mainboard.
For the CPU, mainboard supports both Sandy and Ivy Bridge CPU.
However, Ivy bridge CPU required newer BIOS version to avoid posting issue (please contat us for updated BIOS).
As always, we appreciate your purchase. Honest and constructive reviews are welcome.

5 out of 5 eggsTOP BOARD ON MARKET

Pros: REAL SATA 3 CONTROLLERS, this board puts Asus, Gigabyte, MSI to shame in same class and socket. The only board with a Real Sata 3 Marvell controller. The Marvell 9128 is absolute garbage, but Asus still uses it and they know it is. This board will max out a SSD on Native Sata 3, that's the X79 northbridge- 540R 520W. The Marvell will get 540R 520W, with a top SSD.

This board is set for Ivy bridge -E, and will run at pci-e 3.0. I am running at pci-e 3.0 now with a Nvidia patch. Speeds went from 80FPS to over a 100FPS for Crysis 2 using patch.

Lan, USB, very fat and with XFAST, boosting transfer rates up 30MB. Dual Lan is amazing doubling rate to 200Mbps.

Cooling is fantastic, and with a SBridge fan turning on when working the board hard.

ON/OFF switch, reset on board so if the case switch fails you are all set. CMOS switch.

This board has it all.

Cons: Company, the manual is poor, they don't like emails, poor support,
poor driver info.

They didn't post that the Beta BIOS has ROM switch, you can run RST ROM, or the RST-E ROM.

Wasted time extracting and injecting ROMs for nothing.

Amazing, the only way for getting TRIM in RAID 0 with RST.

Windows 7 drivers have worked on windows 8, before any Beta drivers for win 8 were out, you have to be smarter then the driver. Just after win 8 CP Beta drivers were released.

Windows 8 is garbage, its for little girls who want news and posting pic's of themselves all day.

If you want fast TRIM in RAID 0 and the faster FPS from 90 percent of Games, use Windows 7, FACTS.

Other Thoughts: First, Newegg needs to stop letting people who didn't buy the product here post their pathetic comments.

I have run RAID on Both Controllers, have run Windows 8 from CR.

Am running RAID 0 on both right now. Win 7.

If you have any clue about computers, you know where to get drivers, just because ASRock did not have them posted for Windows 8, does not mean they are not out there.

Asus is also a joke with drivers, they don't keep up on drivers as well, Gigabyte too.

RAID 0 on the Native Sata 3 1000R 10000W, RAID 0 on Marvell is 700R 600W, used ATTO, recommended by OCZ.

I have TRIM in RAID 0 working on Windows 7, Windows 8 has a slow TRIM command send.

Thanks to ASRock for ROM switch, using ROM, driver The Native X79 RAID 0 is getting TRIM commands.

There is no such thing as Sata 6, these computer people who post they are genius's but post Sata 6 are funny.

Its called SATA Revision- 3 with a transfer of 6G. Just because motherboard MFG post as transfer does not make a new serial.

If you want the best board out, one that can use more then two SSD's, with top speed of the SSD, you need to get this board.

1 out of 5 eggsnot compatible with windows 8

Pros: sata III and usb 3.0 but cannot take advantage of because drivers for Windows 8 from their website will FREEZE my pc and force me to hard shut down every time.

Cons: Cannot install ANY drivers for Windows 8. After clicking on any windows 8 driver from their website, the computer will FREEZE and force me to hard shut down EVERYTIME. I cannot take advantage of USB 3.0 and SATA 3.0 without those drivers.

Other Thoughts: Tried to contact manufacturer over a month ago. Still no response. I guess they dont care that my first build does not work correctly.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear AsRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. For the Windows 8 drivers, please download and install the beta drivers at link "". If you have any technical questions please contact us at We can assist you shortly.

1 out of 5 eggsFaulty engineering design

Pros: Have built 10K servers and workstations.
Senior Engineer at major corps for 15 yrs.

Cons: Overpriced when purchased.Raid totally disfunctional can not be made to work under any circumstances.
Bought second board had bent pin exactly same issues.
Bios update will not upgrade. Retired and LOSS of $708 at time of build purchase price and build time is substantial. Recpt misplaced.

Other Thoughts: First complaint ever.
Will not buy asrock again.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Board

Pros: This board is great! There is alot of room for add ons. The bios that came loaded on this board worked flawlessly. Two NIC's, and plenty of PCIE Slots.

Cons: I have noticed that my SB runs kinda of hot. Currently keeping an eye on it.

Other Thoughts: Current Specs
Intel Core i7-3820
Kingston HyperX 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)

5 out of 5 eggsDarn good board

Pros: I really love this board. Maybe it's been a while since I bought a good mobo, but I really appreciate the bios. Nice, clean, and detected my mouse right away. I am running a pretty hefty gaming spec on this thing, and I haven't encountered any problems after several months running it (almost non stop)

Cons: Nothing yet, you will be sure to read about it, if it happens.

Other Thoughts: I am not an over clocker, I don't do anything fancy. But it is nice to see that all of that is there if I wanted to use it. Since I am not trying to trick out this board, I have no problems with it. Beyond that, consider my review less helpful.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat board

Pros: Lots of sata ports, lots of PCIe slots, built in surround sound. UEFI is awesome and makes overclocking really easy since all the options have short descriptions. Just make sure you know what you are doing since some are kind of vague. The board looks cool too.

Cons: The only problems I have with it are fan control related. The SB fan is unreasonably loud at full tilt and I don't know if there is any way to set it up to be variable speed. Also I'm not sure if there is a variable speed option for the CPU fan either.
