4 out of 5 eggsGreat Budget Board

Pros: It supports up to FX 8350 (and I believe even the new 9590 with the bios update). It is well built and the VRM works well.

Cons: The only issues I have run into with this motherboard, is that it only has 2 3pin fan connectors and that the USB controller isn't very good. My headset is USB and if it just tap the connector, my computer acts like my headset doesn't exist. I also hate that it doesn't support PCI-E 3.0, but I know that is the fault of AMD CPUs not supporing it yet.

Other Thoughts: If you get this motherboard, make sure you either have fans with a molex plug (or adapter) or have an external fan controller. Also look into getting a USB 2.0 or 3.0 expansion card, they are very cheap.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I have been using this board for a little over a year. It has been stable and I have had zero problems with it once I got it set up (see more under cons). This board is in a computer that runs 24/7 most of the time

Cons: When I first got this board it was DOA and I exchanged it for a new one. THis one Also seemed to be DOA, but what I realized was that it simply would not work in the case I was trying to use it in. I put the board in a different case and it booted right up. Put it back in the other case and nothing. I think something on this board was touching something in the case that made it short out. I think this is why there are so many people reporting DOA boards. I have had that case for years and had at least 4 different motherboards in it with no problem.

Other Thoughts: Now that I have it running it's great. I would not buy another one or recommend them to anyone else.

Manufacturer Response:

1 out of 5 eggsDo not buy

Pros: Nice condition out of the box, included everything I needed, and an easy to install driver CD. Runs better than any other mother board I own (4 others) and has a much nicer BIOS than the dreaded Gigabtye Mother boards.

Cons: I read the negative reviews and purchased this motherboard anyway because it seemed powerful. However, it is cramped, has bad port placement, has many sharp and dangerous heat sinks to cut your hands on. I did not read enough reviews to see that this motherboard has a known problem with hibernation. TURN OFF hibernation and sleep mode. Once it hibernates it WILL NOT turn back on. A hard reboot worked a few times, and then I had to return to newegg and read reviews to find out that I have to reseat my CPU and all the other hardware in order to get it to run again once once it hibernated. On the bright side it displays "DE" on the LED panel inside to show you it is malfunctioning. This board DID NOT come with onboard video. I either did not read well enough, or it was not listed, but you NEED a video card to use this mother board. I saw one response to a bad review in which the maker of this motherboard asked the unsatisfied customer to clear their CMOS. If the hardware is not working because of BIOS/harware failure, then how can you clear the CMOS without a working video port? My video port would not work once the "DE" appeared on my motherboard. I would not recommend this motherboard to the worst of my enemies. Please buy the slightly less terrible gigabyte motherboards over this one. It was not worth the great price. Read more reviews if you don't believe me.

Other Thoughts: While this motherboard meets all of my needs and more, it is not worth the troubleshooting. I would use this for myself, but I would never give it to another person. This is a terrible mortherboard for anyone who doesn't have the patience to spend an hour each few weeks to reseat all their hardware.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
For the onboard VGA, unfortunately, AMD 770 series does not come with onboard VGA. For more information, please visit mainboard specification link at "http://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/770iCafe/?cat=Specifications".
For the sleep mode issue, it's usually causing form VGA drivers and/or VGA card, external USB devices, Windows power option configuration issue, memory, stays in Windows for 1 or more days without restarting the system.
Please follow the steps to check if it’s resolved.
• Unplug all external USB devices except keyboard and mouse.
• Set the UEFI BIOS default (press F9 in BIOS), save and exit.
• Try with 1 memory stick in A1 slot, try with another known good memory if it’s same issue.
• Install fresh Windows with mainboard drivers and test immediately before installing other applications.

As always, we appreciate your purchase and constructive reviews are welcome.
If you have any technical issues or warranty questions please contact our Tech Support at http://www.ASRock.com/support/tsd.asp. We can assist you shortly.

1 out of 5 eggsHorrible and not worth it

Pros: Dr. Debug

Cons: Dead on arrival twice

Other Thoughts: I ordered this motherboard even though I saw the negative reviews. When I got this motherboard it came DOA. So I had to spend 15$ to return this to newegg and I should have been smart and just got my money back but I was stupid and asked for a replacement. Huge mistake. Second one was DOA and now there is no way I can get my money back because the time it took to ship the first one out and get it back it had been past 30 days.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. ASRock mainboards are fully tested to assure that they're working before shipped.
Sorry to hear the second mainboard still having DOA. Please check the other components causing it and verify using CPU and memory are mainboard support list to avoid the compitable issues.
Please visit CPU and memory support link at below
CPU support link http://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/770iCafe/?cat=CPU
Memory support link http://www.asrock.com/mb/memory/770iCafe.pdf

Please trouble shoot the mainboard for below steps with known good components;
Turn the power off.
Remove the mainboard from inside computer to outside, place the mainboard on top of the empty mainboard’s box
Clear the CMOS
Reseat the CPU and heatsink fan as well
Test with single memory module (non-ECC, un-buffered), try with another known good memory if its same issue.
Reseat video card firmly and 6+6 power (if applied)
Plug the 24 pins + 8 or 4 pins ATX power to the mainboard
Plug the chassis power switch to mainboard's front panel power header and try again
If you have any technical issues or warranty questions please contact us at http://www.ASRock.com/support/tsd.asp. We can assist you shortly.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: none

Cons: I received this mobo even after reading the negative reviews. The computer went together well, but the monitor would not receive a signal with any monitor I hooked up to it. I have tested the video card, monitors and found them all to be working. It is not the CPU, PSU, and the mobo is not turning on. However, there are no beeps. I have reset the bios and still no change. I have run all the suggested trouble shooting techniques. The monitor still says no signal. I can only assume that the mobo arrived with a faulty pci express x16 2.0 slot. There is no onboard video to hook up to in order to check bios to see if it is set up for a vga or not to recognize video cards.

Other Thoughts: I did not think that a lack of an on board video would cause problems. However, troubleshooting is nearly impossible when you are forced to do it blindly.

Manufacturer Response:

1 out of 5 eggsMultiple motherboards went bad

Pros: Cheap, has a fair amount of pci-e slots, Dr. Debug lcd panel for debugging

Cons: Only 2/3 pci-e slots work. I've bought three of these boards, and two already have problems. On one board, the third pci-e slot won't work out of the box, and on the second board, it went bad within the week. The third board is fine (so far). I probably will not buy more of these.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Sorry to hear the PCIE slot has malfunctioned.
If using PCIE 1 x slot, please install the card firmly to assure fully contact with the slot to avoid detecting the add-on card issue.
Thank you for your purchase and review.

5 out of 5 eggsHard to beat for a decent budget build

Pros: I was hoping to find one for under $60 and I was shocked to find one with so many awesome features. I was also looking for 4 DDR3 DIMM slots not 2 DDR2 and 2 DDR3 that can't even work simultaneously like the only other super cheap 4 DIMM board available here on Newegg. This board has it all including the ability to OC everything and software that makes the most out of all of the hardware. This board was bought to replace my R.I.P. MSI 890GXM-G65 and other than 5.1 audio I didn't lose much beside what I didn't use like the on-board GPU, SATA 6, and USB 3.0. Both boards are made for smaller cases like mine but the 770icafe's narrow rectangular shape fits much nicer into my Antec 300 than the MSI's perfect square. I'm actually looking forward to now being able to have a sound card ABOVE my graphics card instead of blocking it or the bottom mounted PSU.

After much consideration I chose this board to go with a 965 BE 3.4 ghz quad core and 4x2gb PC1333 RAM. It recognized my hard drive without any problems and wasn't the cause for the freeze on the first boot after loading windows almost completely.

Cons: I expected a few bugs especially because this was a repair not a new build. It wouldn't recognize my DVD drive until I plugged it into port 4. Because of this I didn't use the drive for the first few days and had to download all of the drivers and software which worked out alright but ASRock's Website SUCKS! Something about foreign businesses and the meanings lost in translation or what we are used to in America and what's other's are used to in different parts of the world I guess. Basically one wrong click and you're nowhere near what you want or you're on some other website trying to sell you something else. I expect that in free message forums but not on a manufacturer's website.

Other Thoughts: I cannot tell if I've gained much in performance but so far the gaming has been smooth and even though my video settings do not appear to have changed I swear that the resolution must be higher or I've gotten a little too used to playing on the PS3. Of course the video has more to do with my Pny GTX 460 but other than replacing the 955 BE with a 965 BE and doubling my RAM the only real upgrade was the motherboard and water cooler for the CPU.

1 out of 5 eggsdoesn't last long

Pros: cheep,AM3+ CPU

Cons: had it for just over 6 months and the USB's are starting to fail, only 1 PCI express

Other Thoughts: do NOT buy if you want to use it for more than a half a year.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. For the issue, please turn the power off, clear the CMOS.
Test with another known good USB devices to eliminate the issue.

1 out of 5 eggs2 DOA

Pros: LED Dr.Debug Display to help with the diagnosis

Cons: I am building 2 computer for some friends, ordered the first one last week it came in DOA, ok as usual NewEgg was absolutely fantastic with their customer support and had me a new one rather quickly. Ordered another board for the 2nd computer which came in today and it is also DOA. so far 2 of 3 boards are DOA. I purchase a lot of boards from AsRock and figured them to be a good supplier, after this mishap I may start to look else where when building other rigs.

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsSo nice I bought it TWICE!!!

Pros: Price, Overclocking utilities, quality... I bought this board and paired it with an Athlon 2 X4 and WOW... Sold that pc and built another, better stuff, with a Phenom 2 X4 965 BE at 4ghz! Yeah, the board nativily underclocked the ram, but easy fix.

Cons: No USB 3.0...
