2 out of 5 eggsUgh...terrible board

Pros: Not sure. If I can get it to function properly then we could see...

Cons: I've RMA'ed this board once before (DOA) when first purchased in May to put in a new rig. Here it is, August, and now I'm going to have to RMA it again because the graphics will not respond. I am frustrated and seriously don't have the patience to deal with this board any further. I need things I pay money for to WORK. I really DON'T have time for this. This is counterproductive and frustrating. For a board to be this flighty is insane in 2014. Good thing I kept my OLD rig or else I'd be up the creek - no paddle. This board is very sickly and I really wouldn't suggest buying it unless you love wasting your time and money.

Other Thoughts: Newegg - take this board OFF the "shelves". There are WAAAAY too many complaints about it and the complaints are only rising. This board is trash. And on top of that, I'm probably going to have to pay to get this board RMA'ed - AGAIN. SMH. Don't buy it - go with Gigabyte or something...

2 out of 5 eggsfine when it's not dead

Pros: Easy to configure. When it works at all, it works fine.

Cons: Dies after about a year. I've RMA'd this board twice already, and now it's dead again. Look elsewhere for a quality motherboard because this one isn't it. ASRock seems to have some significant QA problems.

I'm not over clocking or running anything unusual. Just some light gaming. A motherboard should last longer than one year.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

Sorry to hear that the second mainboard has malfunctioned again and this is very rare.
Please provide us with detail problem and using components at http://www.ASRock.com/support/tsd.asp. We will assist you shortly.

1 out of 5 eggsDead after 2 months

Pros: Worked great while it was functional.

Cons: Dead after only 2 months of use

Other Thoughts: Great board while it lasted, however what I have now is 130$ worthless board. Working on getting it replaced but Newegg is no help.

4 out of 5 eggsASRock Z77 Extreme4 LGA 1155

Pros: Works well. Used for a FreeNAS system and worked out of box with the following parts...
NORCO RPC-2212
Intel Core i3-3240
G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 32GB (4 x 8GB)
LSI SAS 9211-8i
LSI SAS 9207-8e

Cons: None that I can think of

Other Thoughts: This is the first non-intel MB I have purchased in years. I missed the single fold out "map" that Intel provides for step by step setup and board layout. Short of that, board is is doing what is asked of it.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: None

Cons: Dead as a door nail. Been waiting on other parts to show up before assembling the computer. I should have listen to all the others out here but thought only complainers write in. I will not deviate from Gigabyte or ASUS motherboards again. Not even sure that ASRock will stand behind this board. UGH!

3 out of 5 eggsNot bad when it works

Pros: Reasonable price. Good layout.

Cons: Only lasted 18 months. Left a support request on Asrock and it's been 8 days and still no response from support. So I docked 1 egg for slow support. Hopefully they respond soon.

Other Thoughts: I will have to recommend other brands then asrock due to slow support. I can understand no response for 2-3 days but it has been a over a week and support still hasn't responded. I rate most brands on quality but I also consider how good their tech support is.

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Board

Pros: Slot layout, Price, Z77, Asrock, good OC'er.

Cons: Only one of a few boards left that support Sandy and Ivy Bridge CPU's.

Other Thoughts: I replaced an Asus Maximus Gene V with this board... Because it was giving me a lot of problems. This new board is working great and have no more issues. I'll keep using it while I RMA my old board.

While this board doesn't have all the tweaking options my Gene V has. It's still a really nice board. Great to have a backup for the next 2-3 more years.

1 out of 5 eggsWant this to be known, rating on NEWEGG not the product

Pros: The motherboard is great if there is no physical damage done to the CPU slot before you get it...

Cons: If you get a motherboard that has damaged pins on the CPU socket and send it off for an RMA, you want get a replacement... You might get a 10% off your next motherboard if you respond in less than one day...

If there is a bad CPU socket, they will say you damaged it regardless if it was damaged before you received it

Other Thoughts: I am seriously thinking of not shopping with Newegg again if my situation is not handled correctly...

I have been purchasing from newegg for close to 20 years and I never had to return a motherboard... But the one time I do it because of a defective motherboard, the assumption is that I damaged the pins on the socket...

I don't doubt that the majority of damaged pins on a CPU socket is caused by inexperienced builders... But I have built more than 300 PCs and have NEVER bent a pin because I am very meticulous in what I do

2 out of 5 eggsSeems to work right if it wasnt defective

Pros: Fastest reboot I have seen

Cons: Received a defective board the first time, and 2nd board was still defective

Other Thoughts: First board I received had a defective CPU mount with 2 missing pins. Contacted the manufacturer and got a free replacement (even though I had to spend my own money to pay for shipping to replace the defective board. Plus a 2 week waiting period for the replacement.)

The replacement board I received has had problems with crashing on windows update that I have never experienced before. Two weeks of troubleshooting the problem has proved that the SSD, RAM, Software, and CPU have not been source of the problem. And digging into Windows forums has pointed almost all the blame on the motherboard.

It could possible be another hardware fault, but all evidence and trouble shooting is pointing towards a faulty motherboard.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
All replacement mainboards are fully tested to assure working fine before shipped.
For the crash issue, please set the UEFI BIOS default.
Test with single memory module, switching another memory if problem still persist.
Check if the software related issue while updating Windows casuing system crash.

5 out of 5 eggsASRock Z77 Extreme4

Pros: -Lots of PCI lanes.
-Lots of SATA connections.
-Lots of USB connections.
-Four RAM slots.
-OC my CPU to 4.0 GHz.
-Great on-board audio.
-Easy to use UEFI.
-Still works after a year's worth of OC hardcore gaming and video editing.
-Debug LED helped me figure out what was causing my PC to crash. (Faulty RAM).
-The manuals were very thorough and in depth.
-Great driver support. (Downloaded from website).

Cons: I really can't think of any.
I guess the color of the board is a bit ugly but that's just a matter of personal preference.
