5 out of 5 eggsRelieved and Impressed

Pros: It was the only Z77 motherboard available.
Quite feature-rich for a budget board

Cons: Thin PCB, as others have mentioned, but it's not difficult to be careful.
Not full-size, so again be careful.

Other Thoughts: Needed a replacement since my old mobo's USB port started failing. This was the only Z77 in stock for a decent price. I was hesitant since Asrock is a budget brand, but I didn't really have much of a choice.

Thankfully, everything went well with assembly and my PC is running well. I did as another reviewer advised and cleared the CMOS before all else. Board posted on first start up, went straight to BIOS and Windows install after. Been running like a champ ever since.

It's got quite an impressive array of features; I especially like the on-board power button and error codes. Although, I thankfully didn't need to use either. It's nice that they're there. Happy with my purchase and thankful that Newegg still had them in stock.

5 out of 5 eggsPurchased it to set up SLI

Pros: Lots of SATA connections in a well thought out design. Placement of fan and front panel connectors as well as positioning of PCI/PCIe and CPU are where they should be (as opposed to where they could be). The unit includes a software suite that unlocks various tweaking features, overclocking and software fan controls. The software even allows you to optimize your Lan connection as well as other aspects of ASRock's system controls. It even allows you to set a portion of ram as Vram which improves overall system performance. The color scheme is not flashy but masks a beast of an LGA 1155 Intel Z77 kit.

Cons: I am still trying to get XMP to run at optimized levels on this board. I am using G.SKILL TridentX Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) but can't seem to find the proper setting within the Bios to get XMP to run as it should. I have gotten it to work before but the Bios readout settings seem cryptic, at best.

Other Thoughts: This is the first ASRock motherboard I have ever owned. I primarily purchased it to set up SLI and do some gaming. Initially, after doing the install, hooking up all components, I was still undecided about what my "verdict" would be. After playing around with it for a couple of months, I can sate that I am happy with my purchase.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Pleased With Purchase!

Pros: Works out of the box.

Cons: It's really one of the very few "New" LGA1156 Boards out there, not costing over $300.

Other Thoughts: My previous Motherboard died and I needed an LGA1156 replacement board so I could continue using my CPU and RAM.
With this board being one of the very few "New" LGA1156 boards out there, I decided to pull the trigger. I was somewhat hesitant based upon several of the negative reviews however, I'll attribute most of those to improper handling, and installation by the user.
I ordered the board through New Egg along with the 2-Year extended warranty. That way I shouldn't have to worry about having to get a new CPU and RAM for a little while anyways.
I had no issues installing the board, or any of my components.
I have the Hyper212 EVO CPU cooler, and 4 sticks of GSkill Areis RAM. They all installed without any clearance issues. I did however install the one RAM stick closest to the CPU prior to installing the cooler. I could see it would have been tricky getting this installed with the cooler being already there.
Yes, this board does have some "flex" to it, but I installed most of my components with the board laying on the static bag on top of the box prior to actually mounting it into it's case.
Overall, I'm happy with this board. For what's out there, this one does what I need it to do without any issues.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent Board

Pros: -Looks good (brown PCB not noticeable inside case)
-Overclocks my 3570K very easily
-Right angle SATA
-Lots of fan headers
-Supports SLI can Crossfire
-Debug LED indicators

Cons: -Thin PCB (does not matter if you're careful)
-Not a full size board (again, does not matter if you're careful)
-Board is usually not reset from factory (see other thoughts)
-Motherboard heatsinks are not snug (once again, does not matter if you're careful)

Other Thoughts: What people need to understand about this board is that after factory testing ASRock has failed to reset some of the boards. If you but this board, the first thing you should do after unboxing is take out the CMOS battery to reset the board. After doing this on my board, it had ZERO problems. It picked up the mismatched 12GB of ram without issue. It also recognized my GTX 970 immediately. I would be willing to say that failing to reset the board is what has caused a majority of the problems I have seen in these reviews. Good features for a good price that will help extend the life of your system.

4 out of 5 eggsMinor Problems, but still a good buy

Pros: UEFI Bios
Excellent Overclocking all around.
Great specifications.

Cons: It arrived with a broken PCI Express 3.0 x16 clip.
Dead USB port on the back.
Feels fairly flimsy.

Other Thoughts: This board is easily the best available for LGA1155 unless you want to pay close to $300, and honestly, I think it's better than the next best boards as far as specifications go.

Though the clip was broken {cons} it works fine with the GPU secured to the back of the case, so that's not a terribly big problem. Like the clip, I'm not terribly worried about the dead USB port on the back {it was a 2.0 for me} as the board has quite a number of ports besides that one.

1 out of 5 eggsCan't get windows to install

Pros: Looks nice, boots to UEFI

Cons: Tried Several of each: Known working CPU's, Known working RAM, Known working HD's (reformatted several times just to make sure), Known working video cards. Will not install windows 7 64 bit from disk nor from bootable USB- various freeze points, No way to get to legacy bios to eliminate that issue.

Other Thoughts: Can't return because I spent too long gathering parts to try and troubleshoot and I have a life other than building this computer. I honestly assumed it was something else anything else other than the brand new motherboard I bought. Now I am out the money and have a slew of other parts I've purchased with no motherboard to install them on. What a waste of money.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Ryan,

Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
Please trouble shoot the mainboard whether the issue is resolved.
• Clear the CMOS.
• Load the BIOS setting default.
• Check the CPU is not overheating.
• Test with single memory module.
• Test with onboard video (CPU with iGPU/APU or test with VGA card).

5 out of 5 eggsOutstanding (so far)

Pros: Purchased this mobo as one of my upgrade parts for my old gaming rig, I needed something SLI compatible/non micro atx at a reasonable price. This is the ONLY mobo you should consider in an 1155 socket unless you want to pay upwards of 250-300 bucks. It has worked amazingly so far, no hiccups, runs smooth and cool. Everything checks out as expected. The error light system is an awesome pro. Looks amazing. Gold capacitors are top of the line and just finish this already great looking motherboard off in style.

Cons: Non honestly.

Other Thoughts: The funniest thing is, when this was delivered my dog got a hold of it before I did, the board was actually laying in the bare grass out of its bag. Still works. Flawlessly. Asrock clearly builds quality products.

5 out of 5 eggsFlawless after 2+ years

Pros: I have real great luck with various ASRock mobo's/builds but this one is a beast.
Ease of use.
Stability of CPU overclock. And other overclocks. Video/Ram
Temps stay low

Black PCB with gold caps everywhere looks nice in my acrylic ATX case as well.

Cons: Needs more fan plugs, thats really the only disappointment I had with this board.

Other Thoughts: I Have a I5 2500k in it running on it at 4.5 ghz or higher with a corsair h80 cooler since the day I installed it , have pushed it to 5.0 ghz just to see if it could and ran it that way for a month.
Memory overclocked.
Video card overclocked.

Rock solid performance on all fronts , never even hiccuped.

This has been a great gaming board and when the time comes to replace it , I'll be going with ASRock again.

1 out of 5 eggsNo Quality Control

Pros: This board boasts some awesome specifications (see Specifications), but a lack of quality control at ASRock prevents this motherboard from reaching its full potential.

See cons for an explanation.

Cons: I purchased this motherboard on March 23, 2015, and it was defective so I replaced it. It is now October 11, 2015 and I have returned this motherboard 5 times already, plus the replacement does not work (making it 6 times).

Each board I received had one of the following problems,
- The CPU Sock would not recognize my i7 CPU
- The Serial ATA2 and ATA3 connectors would not read my hard drive (but they did recognize it was present)
- The A2 and B2 ram slots (there are two pairs A1 + A2, B1 + B2) would not recognize my ram

Other Thoughts: My desktop computer has been unusable for almost a year. I installed my 6th brand-new motherboard today, and none of the Serial ATA connectors can read my hard drive to launch Windows 7 Ultimate.

I contacted NewEgg for a replacement, and they said it is past the warranty. This statement does not make sense since the warranty period has not started, because I have not turned on my desktop. NewEgg is getting away with charging me for a flawed item, and then providing replacements that do not work either.

One of the technicians will call me tomorrow (Columbus Day-Canadian Thanksgiving). Hopefully NewEgg doesn't try to get away with selling busted equipment.

Wish me luck...

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Domenic,

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
Please connect the Windows drive to Intel SATA3_0 port.
Check whether mainboard is detecting the drive in BIOS, Advanced, Storage Configuration.
If problem still persist, test with another known good SATA cable and drive.

If you have any technical support inquiry, please contact us at
We will assist you shortly.

Thank you
