  • newegg ASRock OMG (Online Management Guard) Fast, Easy and Free – ASRock OMG technology allows you to establish an internet curfew or restrict internet access at specified times. Administrators are able to schedule the starting and ending hours of internet access granted to other users. Normally, ISPs (Internet Service Provider) will charge for internet curfew service. The service controls “all” the PCs connected at home through network remotely but all the PCs in that network will be restricted to access the internet at pre-setup times. However, ASRock OMG is a free tool for controlling internet access of each single PC. Parents can easily control internet access through BIOS setup to protect their kids from using Internet at inappropriate time, and meanwhile, enjoy their own internet space.

4 out of 5 eggsBest board I know (perf./cost) ;trash manual&tech.assistance

Pros: Excellent ports.best Cheap1155 i know

Cons: Manual organization quality is poor.Win7 compatibility issues when using 2 Tb=> HDDs

Other Thoughts: Spend to weeks striving to fix a " insert proper boot media" problem. I did all tests known to a tech including Dr. debug( computer scanner). After tryeing it all, saw two pages of the manual (english part) to be at the end of all the other translations page. this pages warn of HDD bigger than 2>Tb having incompatibility when installing service packless win7. as wrongly stated by windows all =2TB labeled HDDs are exemp from problem. My Seagate 2Tb Hybrid HDD was incompatible Had to install win7 with serv pack 1. and solved problem. Multiple emails to asrock assistance none guide me to this. did own research. good board so far

3 out of 5 eggsA Good Motherboard, but Mine Came Defective, Kind of

Pros: Great Looking motherboard
Easy and simple design and setup
Comes with lots of extra screws

Cons: My Ethernet port will NOT work. I have tested multiple Ethernet cables, to make sure it wasn't the cable. So, mine came defective. Sadly, my 30 day warranty was already up.

Other Thoughts: Great MoBo for the price. Would recommend, if they would fix this problem.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Eric,

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
Please check and enable the onboard LAN at BIOS/Advanced/South Bridge configuration.

1 out of 5 eggsAwful Customer Service

Pros: Cheap board for what it offers.

Cons: Failed on me after 4 months. I contacted ASRock for their help. After their first email (which took a while to receive), they have simply ignored me. It has now been 13 days since my last email to them and I still haven't heard back. Not even a "we will get to your case as soon as we can" email. Nothing. Zilch. Complete silence. I will NEVER be buying from ASRock again, and it's not because the MOBO failed (I realize there's always a chance with any brand or part that it will fail) but because their customer service is so awful.

Manufacturer Response:

3 out of 5 eggsGood/Bad

Pros: 1. Lots of connections you can't get elsewhere 2. Very compatible with linux, even libre distros like trisquel, gnewsense, work on this board. 3. very few problems.

Cons: Bios will not update............Have tried every possible way and method, it's out of warranty and i don't use windows. Asrock will not respond to my emails. So this board will be replaced by another brand soon. Came with bios 1.10 now on 1.70 cannont run most ivy bridge processors which is why i bought this board. Asrock apparantly does not ever answer their emails, even when this board was under warranty. Probably will not buy another one of their boards again.

Manufacturer Response:

1 out of 5 eggsTerrible

Pros: Worked fine for 2 days

Cons: after leaving on for 5 or so hours, i started getting constant blue screens. reinstalled windows and all drivers. video card would barely get data because pcie slots are terrible. I ended up trying to update bios and now none of the usb, vga/dvi and ethernet ports even work. Never getting asrock again.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
For the blue screen issue, please clear the CMOS.
Set the UEFI BIOS default.
Test with single memory module, switching another memory if its same issue.

4 out of 5 eggsAlthough this board is an H77 board it has 4 6gb/sec Sata ports and a front usb 3.0 header

Pros: Ok, so I needed another motherboard and i didn't want to spend a lot - my old board was a z68 board - which I bought primarily for data transfer speed - it supported USB 3.0 ports(2) and 6 gb/sec sata (2) - this board while being an H77 board - has an additional 2 sata 6 ports making 4 total.

This was an inexpensive board, but I am very impressed with it - took an i5 no problem and now is running an i7

Cons: Slightly slower than my z68 board (by .1 on Windows Experience index - only thing different was the board).

H77 is not a Z board, but since this was NOT going to be a real overclocking machine, I went with the i7-3770 and everything works well.

Minus 1 star for - The ram disk feature xFast Ram - locked up my Windows 7 install - fixed with a restore point - Too bad, I liked the idea of moving my page file and temp files to the ram disk for speed but I couldn't get it to work - shouldn't really need it though with 16 Gig of ram.

Need a magnifying glass to see the pin connection labels and the documentation is a little skimpy - still if you have built up a machine before, you should be able to "fill in the blanks" with your experience.

Other Thoughts: This was the most inexpensive 4 x Sata 6gb/sec board I could find and I am impressed with it (cheaper than some boards with only 3 ports) - Install was very easy (as is almost everything these days) and it works fine. I hadn't bought an ASRock board before, but I would buy from them again.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Motherboard

Pros: This has been a great mobo for me so far. The bios is highly customizable with a slick gui, and has built-in bios firmware update check and download. Has a really fast bootup speed and works great with all installed hardware.

Cons: Well, problems with some sata drives has proved to be a pain but workable.

2 out of 5 eggsMore Problems Than I Care For

Pros: -Looks good.
-Runs relatively quiet with its fans
-Good BIOS GUI
-Good number of different 3.0 support

Cons: -Horrible support
-Horrible software support, one wrong install and you're redoing Windows
-Horrible PCI Express 3.0 Slot, I'll get to that

Other Thoughts: Ok, right out of the box this motherboard was fail. I've owned it for a year, and thought that I had fixed the problem. First issue, one of their *supported* drivers for Windows, doesn't work and will actually brick your install, forcing you to redo it. Then, let's talk PCI.
It has a nice PCI Express 3.0 slot. The problem is it's so messed up, half the time it doesn't work. If your card isn't sat in it just right, it won't work at all. Have the time I have to leave my case open so that I can reseat and push in the card just so it gets a long enough proper connection. Today I just had the slot officially fail, and now I'm stuck on the 2.0 slot. Which also means the card is more tight in the case because the slot is right in front of all my Hard drives.

DO NOT BOTHER. Spend the extra $10 for the Z77 Extreme 3.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize that you having difficulty with mainboard software and PCIE slots.
For the driver CD, the option has given to install drivers, utilities or install all, which user could determine their needs and able to uninstall if not willing to use.
All PCIE slots are attached with VGA locks, please install firmly and screw the VGA card, lock the VGA card with PCIE lock to avoid lose contact.
If you have any technical issues or warranty questions please contact our Tech Support at http://www.ASRock.com/support/tsd.asp. We can assist you shortly.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid Board

Pros: - Fast
- Inexpensive
- Stable
- Everything I expected.

Cons: - The virtualized GPU might make sense for power consumption, but the perfomance claims are nonsensical. It's like claiming that attaching a prius to corvette could make the corvette faster. It can't.

- The virtualized GPU stuff isn't stable.

Other Thoughts: Built two machines with this board (using an i3 and i5). Both are stable (sans VGPU drivers) and running well.
