4 out of 5 eggsTypical Asrock MoBo, Self-destructive, works fine, no bells, no drivers.

Pros: AMD 9 Series Chipset, 5 fan plugs, USB 3.0. AM3+ 140W. Crossfire support.
(standard Motherboard stuff, nothing special, Asrock claims to have a super awesome "sleep mode" but it's just sleep mode, for windows, like every computer has done since at least XP. All of Asrock super awesome stuff is just basic, every day computer stuff, spoken in nerd tongue.)

Cons: Not full sized ATX, it falls halfway short of three screws wide (not fully compatible with Corsair Spec-03 Case, and many many others), and Asrock always puts the 24-pin power plug on the outside of the second screws, which causes a pressure focus point on the board (that's the self destructive part) when you plug it in, on my last Asrock board I heard the silicon crack a bit every time, but this one at least didn't make any noise.
First Asrock board came with a disc with absolutely nothing on it, this one came without a disc (at least that saves me time over troubleshooting the empty disc).
IDK if this one was supposed to come with a disc, but I'm definitely seeing a pattern of incompetence here.

Other Thoughts: If you just need a Motherboard to put your processor in, and you're capable of dealing with a computer with no drivers (Onboard Ethernet needs drivers- a wireless adapter is my favorite solution for these situations), then this board will work for you.
I bought this board because of the 5 fan plugs, that's really it. I have a 8320 and 2 R9 270Xs to crossfire, I have a feeling I'll need some airflow.
It's really worth it to spend another $20 on a better board, but when you're buying a whole computer, piece by piece, $20 on each piece adds up, so this board does have it's place.

Manufacturer Response:

Pros: Had for a year now no problems. Great for gaming rig dual pci express 2.0 slots great if ya want to sli your cards up. Came with nice packaging no damage to the board easy to follow instructions a awesome board for the price.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Every build i use ASRock boards and every time i do im never disappointed in the quality or the ease of installation. Ya always stick with what works and performs as it should. Also love the tuner options with all these boards mainly this one gives you those extra tweaks for your fans and overclocking options great boards love em.

3 out of 5 eggsNot all that Happy

Pros: Able to overclock my FX-6100 nicely to just over 4.00ghz (from 3.3ghz). Ram functions great, able to change timings without problems.

Cons: Had to RMA first board, would not boot. Received 2nd board promptly and everything was fine until a month ago. All USB ports stopped working inexplicably (6 USB 2.0, 2 USB 3.0). Tried everything, back to default settings, re-install win 7, many MANY drivers - tested all hardware - no fix, USB still out. Finally had to buy a separate USB 4-port 3.0 card (PCI E) and that is working fine now. Another problem is on restart, USB connected keyboard (to one of the ports on the card) does not work - cannot get to BIOS - had to plug in PS/2 keyboard for that, yet after bootup the USB card functions fine and USB devices work ok from the card.

Other Thoughts: I really hate to let ASRock off the hook on this one but I am really annoyed at this board and A*SRock. I don't want another one of these boards and I just don't want to deal with another RMA process. I'll just buy another brand of motherboard next chance I get for a good deal and never buy A*SRock products again.

5 out of 5 eggsWorking great

Pros: Tons of SATA6 headers
Ton of fan headers
OC'ing is a breeze. I'm running my Phenom X2 965 at 4.2 GHZ without a hitch
Love the UEFI BIOS

Cons: Doesn't have a USB3.0 header. Oh well I can live without that

3 out of 5 eggsKnow what you are getting into

Pros: Not a bad board for the cost. Very expandable and inexpensive. I was impressed by the board for a while.

Cons: After 6 months the board died. No overclocking or anything. It just died. No post, no beeps, nothing, just died. Now I have the decision of replace with another one (not likely) or buy a separate one. Being that I don't trust the workmanship on the board, I will just buy a different one NOT made by Asrock.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Sorry to hear that the mainboard has malfunction after 6 months which’s due to nature of electronic product, it can happen.
Please trouble shooting the mainboard for below steps with known good components;
Remove the mainboard from inside computer to outside. Place the mainboard on top of the empty mainboard’s box
Clear the CMOS
Reseat the CPU and heatsink fan as well
Test with 1 memory module (non-ECC, un-buffered), try with another known good memory if its same issue.
Video card with 6+6 power (if applied)
Power supply with connecting 24 pins + 8 or 4 pins ATX power to the mainboard
Plug the computer case’s power switch to mainboard's front panel power header and try again

1 out of 5 eggsTook a chance and wish I didnt

Pros: Cheap price.... so is the quality.

Cons: It worked fine for about a month.... then the trouble began. My harddrive would read wrong, but did fine in my second rig. Same with my 6200 cpu and gskill ram. All of which would malfunction at various times. Im not going to bother with RMAing it since most people here are having problems as well. I had high hopes for this company since it is an off brand ASUS company.

Other Thoughts: Dont bother with this board. This will be my first and last Asrock experience.

Manufacturer Response:

Pros: was fun for the 6 hours it lasted

Cons: only lasted 6 hours, locked up and would not post a bios/efi screen no matter what I did.

Other Thoughts: This board is a DUD.......I ended up buying this

Newegg was great about the return process.....already recieved my refund.

Pros: Looks Great, all the features you want for the right price!!!!

Cons: recieved board DOA, tried removing everything but the speaker, cpu, and power supply connections(24 and 8 pin) no beeps but power supply comes on!!! Fans when connected power up.
Asked for T/S got a "beginners guide to troubleshooting MB" email, remove all -- clear CMOS -- count beeps --DUH! no beeps! now waiting for newegg RMA!! crossing fingers!!! if another DOA!!! MSI gets the shot!

Other Thoughts: currently crossing fingers that the cost won't get out of control with the returns!!! hope the Second board is a good one~!!!! PLEASE!!!!

5 out of 5 eggsASRock 970 Pro3

Pros: -ASRock xTreme Tuner. With this program, it makes it very easy to monitor your CPU's/Mobo's temps, fan speed, everything.

-With the program mentioned above, overclocking is extremely easy.

-Good mobo that does what I need it to, good price for the 80 bucks.

Cons: -None so far.

Other Thoughts: Good mobo, remember, this is NOT a hardcore gamer enthusiast mobo. It only comes with 1 PCI x16 slot, don't think about getting this and trying to SLI. And put the CPU and Heatsink in BEFORE you put it in the case. My friends were having this problem with their 970.
