4 out of 5 eggsUndocumented Features Bite

Pros: Nice layout, convenient power / reset buttons, status LCD display

Cons: Undocumented "features" caused some consternation. Apparently, there are two sets of USB ports - one driven by the AMD chipset, another by a separate chipset. When attaching USB optical mouse and DVD drive, non-AMD ports did not function. By trial and error, found 2 USB 2.0 ports that functioned. Only after loading the proprietary USB driver from the MB disk, did the other USB ports recognize the mouse and drive.
It is especially aggravating that the USB 3.0 ports convenient to the PS/2 port, are not operational until AFTER the drivers are loaded.

Other Thoughts: I deducted an egg for the aggravation.

Pros: None piece **** never worked right I had problems right away.

Cons: Stephanie @ AsRock support had me send back the motherboard weeks ago and no one will answer my emails they said it arrived on the 15th I have heard nothing else from them in over 2 weeks. I don't want another AsRock I am going back to MSI I already replaced it with an MSI and buying another MSI instead of waiting around for months for a ***** if it ever is replaced after only 3 months of poor service.

Other Thoughts: Never buy from AsRock

Pros: Worked for 3 months

Cons: Sound stopped working after a week and now it wont see HDD's at all after 3 months and is no longer under warranty at all after only 3 months and I bought it new.

Other Thoughts: Sound stopped alway have had trouble out of this board not just the sound you would think after 3 months I could send it back but I am stuck like chuck.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
For the HDD issue, please test with known good HDD and SATA cable on SATA3_1 port, try on another SATA ports if its same issue to eliminate the problem.

5 out of 5 eggsA soild motherboard.

Pros: 6 USB 3.0 ports and 2 USB 2.0 ports.
Plenty of expansion slots.
FM2 CPU socket.
5 SATA 6Gb/s ports, plus a eSATA on the back.
Max memory of 32 GB.
This board is perfect for first time builders.

Cons: I still haven't figured out how to make the 2 USB ports next to the PS/2 to function in Windows 7. But I won't dock an egg off of it for that considering I have plenty of other ports to use.

Other Thoughts: Bought this board on the first and still cannot get the two USB ports next to the PS/2 port to work in windows. Both work fine in the BIOS. I have also installed everything I should have for them to work. Also, the other 4 USB 3.0 ports work just fine while in windows.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent For The Price

Pros: Has SIX native USB 3.0 ports on the back (along with a pair of 2.0), is the latest FM2 socket, and 5 internal native SATA 6Gb/s ports (there in one ESATA port on the back). The EFI BIOS is easy to navigate and didn't really have to change any settings, was also easy to update.

Cons: Why are they still wasting space with a PS2 port? Thankfully there is only one if you have an old keyboard or mouse you really want to use.

Other Thoughts: If installing Win 7, plug your keyb & mouse in the USB 2.0 ports until you get all the drivers installed. Otherwise it won't see them. I chose this board over the micro-atx version just to have the extra expansion slots, but the matx is also pretty feature packed if you want a smaller case.

Purchased two of these boards and paired with AMD A8-5600K processors. Both are running great!

5 out of 5 eggsRMA'd

Pros: Newegg is expedient as usual with their RMA service, I have no other pros because I got the wrong motherboard and had to send it back! I'm sure it is quite good, I purchased an ASRock Motherboard that I needed, and it works perfectly fine.

Cons: None that I know, I never used the motherboard.

Other Thoughts: Thank you Newegg, your RMA service is the most expedient I've found on the net

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: Not sure - never worked

Cons: Built the board out with CPU and memory, never got more than a twitch from the CPU fan. The board would not power up. Swapped power supplies and memory just to be sure - nothing. I've built a dozen home systems in the past, this is the first board I've ever had DOA.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
Please trouble shooting the mainboard for below steps with known good components;
Remove the mainboard from inside computer to outside. Place the mainboard on top of the empty mainboard’s box
Clear the CMOS
Reseat the CPU and heatsink fan as well
Test with 1 memory module (non-ECC, un-buffered), try with another known good memory if its same issue.
Using onboard Video (CPU with iGPU supported or test with VGA card)
Power supply with connecting 24 pins + 8 or 4 pins ATX power to the mainboard
Plug the computer case’s power switch to mainboard's front panel power header and try again
If you have any technical questions please contact us at http://www.ASRock.com/support/tsd.asp. We can assist you shortly.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: So far I love this board for the money. The BIOS interface is pretty well laid out, with all the options I need. An important feature for me was the ability to set the APU as the primary graphics adapter - so that it isn't disabled when a video card is installed. I've seen people ask this question about other boards so figured I'd mention it here.

Cons: The manual isn't very good and the driver disc has crapware that it installs by default. You have to install the drivers one by one - because the option to install "drivers" installs internet toolbars and other stupid stuff.

Other Thoughts: Onboard audio is meh out the analog ports, with a bit of audible interference from other components. That isn't totally unusual though, and there's also S/PDIF optical if you can take advantage of it.
