1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: DOA

Cons: Dead on arrival. It's up to you whether or not you want to roll the dice with this brand. it is one if the few left that still support 775. I had bad luck with mine and now i have to wait another week without a decent comp.

Other Thoughts: I dont know if this brand makes good components or not, I dont really care to find out. My RMA has already been shipped and ill be looking for another mobo that supports 775

1 out of 5 eggsAŠŠ CROTCH Never buy Asrock

Pros: None

Cons: Doesnt boot. Always dissapointed with them. I will never buy again from them. I only bought it because it is the one of the few 775 motherboards still on the market. $70 is quite lame for 7-9 year old technology. My core 2 quad is 8 years old and was still rocking till my Foxconn board died. Asrock never rocks. I want my money back and the shipping cost ughh.

Other Thoughts: I bought a Asrock AM3+ board a few years ago that actually booted for 5 whole seconds before dying. what a waste. Went with Asus instead on that build.

Other Thoughts: Should have bought ASUS

5 out of 5 eggsSolid little board

Pros: Great board for older upgrade or rebuild.
Old m.b. was quirky and SLOW...
To be fair I was using IDE because the board would'nt run sata and ide at same time.
This board fit the bill.

Using P4 ht, 3 ghz.
Kingmax value ram 2* 1 gb...ddr2 667mhz.
WD raptor 76gb, 10,000 rpm.
Asus dvd drive.
Rosewell 580w power supply.
Nvidia 210 graphics.

Most of this stuff is retread...or leftovers from old rebuilds for other people.
It all worked great.
Asus dvd was brand new.

Running all sata on this board.

Once all windows updates were in place... windows xp seems very stable.
That is...untill my kids infect it with a virus...AGAIN.

Cons: Micro atx....small complaint.
I like full size atx....no big deal.

Sata headers MIGHT get blocked by larger video cards.
Mine is small...but a larger card might be a problem.

Other Thoughts: Decent board if you need an older tech board.

Built a more modern computer while doing this one.

Newer tech...and operating sysrems are a pleasure compared to XP and it's headaches.

1 out of 5 eggsJunk

Pros: It's cheap and it supports your old ddr2 memory

Cons: Loses all devices, then forgets boot order, requiring a reconfig in bios. Loses devices sporadically, you reboot you may be missing one or two devices. Sometiimes it doesn't boot at all, requiring another restart. It's junk.

Other Thoughts: Buy a ddr3 board and cpu, this one is overcooked.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize that you having difficulty with boot option.
Set First boot device to desired drive at BIOS, Boot, save and exit.

The other option, press F11 repeatedly once system is started to bring boot option, select desired drive to boot.

5 out of 5 eggsUpdates: Excellent board for The Core2 Family

Pros: 1. Probably one of the best LGA775 MB left. It's a lonely world for the braves.

Cons: 1. No AHCI support for SATA3 6GB/s SSDs
2. Limited overclocking because CPU voltage does not

Other Thoughts: I had this over a year, so there are BIOS settings to speed-up certain things.
1. To dramatically speed-up POST, in the BIOS, under "USB Configuration," >> "Legacy USB Support", set it to "Disabled". This WILL skip quickly through the POST, so pressing the DEL or F2 wouldn't work--so make sure your bios setting is perfect before setting this--this will decrease your POST by a good amount!
2. Under "PCI/PnP Settings," >> keep it on "Enabled". If this is disabled, your HD or SSD write & read speed will be decreased. On top of that, under another setting, make sure to have the "ATA/IDE Configurations" on "Enhanced".
Also, disable any boot or serial and parallel ports you do not uses to speed-up POST even more.
I have 2 internal HD, one boot-drive as an SATA2 SSD, and an mechanical drive, and 3 external USB HDs, so if you do not set it the USB legacy on disable, the POST will be much, much longer.
Lastly, make sure you save your bios settings profile, so in case you need to get back in the bios--you'll need to CLR the CMOS. So far, combined with Windows 8.1, my boot-time from pressing the power button to the tiles screen is about 10s.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: DOA... not much to talk about.

Cons: The first of many motherboards I've used over the years, but the first to be dead as a door nail. Quality control?

Other Thoughts: This reminds me why I normally buy Gigabyte.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Syl,

We apologize for any inconvenience it may cause to you.
Please follow the procedure to check your system.
step1:
Turn off the system power and unplug the power cord. Remove all PnP cards (Plug and Play) and cables including VGA, IDE, FDD, COM, USB, and external printer cable.
Step2:
Confirm CPU and DRAM is inserted properly
Step3:
Clear CMOS
(Please refer to motherboard user manual for clearing CMOS)
Step4:
Plug the VGA card back to the system and also re-connect your monitor, mouse and keyboard.
Step5:
Turn on the power and make sure CPU, power supply and CPU fan is functioning.
If you still cannot get dispaly, please change CPU, memory or VGA card for try.

If you still have any technical issues or questions, please contact us at http://www.ASRock.com/support/tsd.asp.
We can assist you shortly.

Thank you very much!

2 out of 5 eggssub-par

Pros: Works, Somewhat.
Can overclock pretty decent for a cheap board if you are familiar with older overclocking procedures.

Cons: intermittently lose all SATAII connections after restart. When I say all I mean, HDD, Optical Drive and SSD all at the same time. Can install these same componets on a different board and have no problems. This can normally be fixed after 4-5 restarts.

Also have random artifacts on the screen. I had previously had two different GPUs installed. One was a Nvidia GTS450 and the second was a EVGA 560ti, both having random artifacts even when out of a game. I tried new drivers, old drivers, switched cards, & tested those cards in different units. I then took out all aftermarket GPUs and just used onboard graphics. I am still having the issue and it is now even more frequent.
The only positive thing I can say about ASrock at this time is at least it wasn't DOA.

Other Thoughts: I will say that I have been able to run this board with limited crashes with a E8400 3.0 overclocked to 3.8Ghz pretty easily.

For those looking at this board and how to overclock you must be sure to set the jumpers correctly first. After that you can start. You can't increase the Vcore voltage so you have to start with PCIE overclocking first. Get that to 120 and then start inching your CPU frequency up. Make sure you go into BIOS and enable overclocking mode. Set it to
"CPU, PCIE, Async"

I still wouldn't recommend ASrock to anyone. The only reason I bought this board was because I had an old 775 CPU laying around so I figured "why not". I have personally never used Asrock before this board, but I can firmly say that I wont take a risk on any of their higher end products because of this experience.

. I will be sticking to Asus and Gigabyte for all my high end stuff.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
Please set the BIOS default.
For the losing SATA drives issue, please check the PSU is providing enough power or test with another PSU.
Check the SATA cable and they are firmly connected.
For the GPUs issue, please remove the VGA card, test with onboard VGA to check if the symptom still occurs.
If you have any technical issues or warranty questions please contact us at http://www.ASRock.com/support/tsd.asp. We can assist you shortly.

Thank you
