5 out of 5 eggsGood value

Pros: Built my parent's a new computer and used this mobo. It's pretty future proof for their purposes with HDMI and USB 3.0.

Cons: None so far

4 out of 5 eggsupdate to past review

Pros: sturdy, clean, stays pretty cool even OC'd, handles the overclock on the cpu side of the APU, most the board does what it says it does.

Cons: Continuous crashes when GPU overclock is done on the APU. USB 3.0 header does not work, even with updated drivers and a new USB 3.0 cable. Bios are not as friendly to work with as the ASUS boards, but are friendlier than MSI or GIGABYTE.

Other Thoughts: Was a good budget board at the time, but a waste of money now that the dolton boards are out.

2 out of 5 eggsPoor quality control

Pros: At the time I purchased it, this motherboard was a good deal as part of an entry-level enthusiast build.

Cons: The original board I received from Newegg appeared to have some kind of electrical issue with its B memory channel. No memory placed in the 3rd and 4th slots could be recognized by the machine. The replacement I received from Newegg did not have this issue.

This is the second of four AsRock motherboards I have had in my possession to exhibit an electrical fault.

Other Thoughts: I have also been unable to install 64-bit Windows 7. Installed from a disc, Windows refuses to select a drive to install to; directly imaged onto a hard-drive, Windows goes through the process of finding drivers during its first-boot process and then gives an irrecoverable error at the end of that process. I am unclear as to the nature of this problem, but Linux works fine on the machine.

5 out of 5 eggspowerfull

Pros: ive bought ASRock boards in the past and have been surprised by there ability and power. this was a good addition to my build

Cons: wait..what...cons?... well, i guess i do have a small issue. the DIMM slots should be moved a little out more to fit some big coolers like the xigmatech gaia. im literraly bending my DIMM slot to fit it on the CPU

Other Thoughts: im not sure if ASR knows this or if they planned it this way, but the last two boards i had, i noticed a small, verry interesting feture on the northbridge. the heatsink has a centripetal airflow. i thought this was cool considering the fact that it has a shell over it

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Motherboard

Pros: Absolutely no complaints with this board. Mr. Debug is so helpful I hope it becomes the norm and replaces the morse code beeps.

3 Pci-Express slots total, so if you're planning on building the ultimate gaming machine this is the way to go. On top of that, ASROCK has a very nice BIOS.

Cons: None except maybe that the CPU power connectors are a bit tough to reach if you have a big processor cooler like I did.

Other Thoughts: The one thing that really stings me is that a new version of this motherboard came out the day after I bought it for only $10 more. I would have gladly paid an extra $10 for the new one.

1 out of 5 eggsNot for me

Pros: 3 PCI-X slots

Cons: Only one port for Keyboard AND mouse make this board WORTHLESS to me. Can't use it with my KVMs because I don't have KVMs that switch USB, and I've only got ONE USB keyboard (a near-worthless Logitech G11 that I AVOID using beause the keys are wierd size and junk feel so I can't touch-type on it).

Other Thoughts: Why do so many motherboard makers of late want to FORCE you into using USB for KB and/or Mouse? Waste of a USB slot to put such VERY LOW performance peripherals on USB, and USB OFTEN has boot issues with non-standard KBs and mice.

I got stuck with an ASROCK MB with only one port, I CAN'T use a second such MB so I will NEVER THIS BOARD OR ANY OTHER that forces me to use USB for a KB or a mouse.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
The mainboard come with one PS2 port for either KB or mouse, please visit mainboard specification at link " http://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/FM2A85X%20Extreme6/?cat=Specifications ".
However, nowadays mainboards are utilized the USB (2.0, 3.0) technology due to its better performance, convenient and widely used.
As always, we appreciate your purchase and constructive reviews are welcome.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat board so far.

Pros: The Bios are easy to navigate, everything seems sturdy, and everything is clearly labeled.

Cons: four out of six USBs on the board had a little problem at start up, but it was just a problem with some drivers and a reinstall fixed it. nothing to take an egg off for.

Other Thoughts: The placement of the heat sink and the PCIe ports is worrisome. The two graphics cards are right on top of it so I worry that might be a problem. again because it has not caused a problem yet I didn't take an egg off.

1 out of 5 eggsdisappointing

Pros: Plenty of fan headers, it looks ok

Cons: Buggy as hell, prone to boot failures, data ports do not work in unison, bios is stutter-plagued. I don't need to continue. I would return it if I could but I waited too long and I'm married to it now.

Other Thoughts: I would not recommend this manufacturer to anyone I know.

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsGood Motherboard

Pros: Great motherboard. Lots of video ports for AMD's APUs. Running well with Windows 8.1 preview. Nice UEFI Set Up Utility interface.

Cons: Not much with the motherboard

Other Thoughts: Initially the video graphics did not work on my first motherboard. I had contacted ASRock and they told me to RMA the motherboard which I did. After using my second motherboard, I figured out that it was not the mobo but AMD's lack of graphics driver support for Windows Vista for the A10 APUs which caused problems. This is why I'm forced to run Windows 8.1 preview.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: great motherboard looks nice in my case. Software that comes with the mobo makes it really easy for overclocking . The User Interface in the Bios is great allowing mouse acces in the makes it much nicer to use.

Cons: had a problem with the onboard video when i got the first one but got it sorted out very quickly. Knocking one star simple because the first board didn't work.

Other Thoughts: Had a problem mounting an exhaust in my case above RAM, But thats a case flaw.
