5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: Unbelievable overclocking.. Ive had both a asus v formula and now asrock 990fx extreme 9.. it works just as well, if not better, for a 40/50 dollar price difference. plus, asrock have build in overclock feature that automatically adjust your bus speed and voltage so you dont have to. well worth the money.

Cons: nothing at all

Other Thoughts: def check out asrock.. much better for a newer company. cant complain at all. smooth as butter. : )

1 out of 5 eggsasrock uefistank

Pros: memory flexibility, ok layout except for the fan plug placement right under the cpu hatsink -- good luck changing out fans without removing the entire cpu heatsink.

Cons: uefi implementation is awful and an utter failure. compatibility. uefi won't support loading os on gpt volumes greater than 2tb using third party raid cards -- this is the entire reason that uefi exists. unbelieveable! no options to adjust uefi video resolution or fix massive overscan issues. customer service totally unresponsive. look elsewhere.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. To install Windows with GPT format, its required Windows installation disc with UEFI boot (Windows 8 has already build-in).
Press F11 once system is started to bring boot menu, select the UEFI : “Windows installation disc drive” to install with UEFI mode (larger than 2.2TB drive).
Install third party RAID controller's driver when prompted to recognizing the drives (if applied).

1 out of 5 eggsASRock is a joke

Pros: 0

Cons: is manufactured by ASRock. 2nd DOA board. no debug lights, no board power or reset lights.

Other Thoughts: FX-8320
AMD Performance Edition DDR3 1600 4x 2GB
Thermaltake SMART Series SP-750M
MSI R7870-2GD5T/OC
WD Black WD1002FAEX 1TB 7200 RPM
all working components fine with my 890GX board.
both of these ASRock 990FX I have received are dead like most of these recent reviews.
have troubleshooted all my components 1 at a time in my 890GX board and none have problems. tried again 1 at a time in this 990FX and still no debug, no power lights, no post.
this is ridiculous. wasting my time, my thermal paste, plus the added aggravation over again.
BOYCOTT ASRock!

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
Please trouble shooting the mainboard for below steps with known good components;
Remove the mainboard from inside computer to outside, place the mainboard on top of the empty mainboard’s box
Clear the CMOS
Reseat the CPU and heatsink fan as well
Test with 1 memory module (non-ECC, un-buffered), try with another known good memory if its same issue.
Video card with 6+6 power (if applied)
Power supply with connecting 24 pins + 8 or 4 pins ATX power to the mainboard
Plug the computer case’s power switch to mainboard's front panel power header and try again

4 out of 5 eggsBeastin for the price

Pros: Easy install, Looks sexy, very easy to use overclocking software right in your OS so you don't need to go into BIOS.

Ram is a good distance from the CPU so you can use massive heatsinks like I am right now.

Dr Debug LED is helpful for first time builders.

Cheaper then ASUS or Gigabyte counterparts with the same specs

Built for overclocking

Cons: Some of the included software is useless, on first install did not install the LAN driver, had to manually pull it from disk and start it up. The Auto run didnt install it for some reason.

Dr Debug told me the CPU was dead when it wasnt, it was the Graphics card.

Other Thoughts: RMA'd it when I didn't need to, turned out it was the card itself not the PCI slots. (derp)

Choose it over the ASUS Sabertooth. No regrets. Except that whole, RMA when i didn't need to thing, but thats my fault.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat board

Pros: - Tons of features(8 usb 3.0, 8 Sata 3)
- Good power delivery (12+2)
- Great overclocking potential
- Spacing for PCI-e is perfect
I've been running this 24/7 since I got it up and running, I have a FX8350 at 4.6Ghz and it has given me no trouble at all after i figured out the uefi layout, I had an msi board before this so things were a little different.

Cons: First board came DOA, no big deal since newegg is amazing. The only complaint i have is that the load line calibration seems off somehow, if you overclocking make sure you set it to 100% or else your voltages for the core will shoot up to 1.55+. Also it does not like my NZXT usb expansion plug for some strange reason but I can live without it.

Other Thoughts: If you want a stable board go ahead and just buy it already, this is the best 990fx board on the market...make sure you have a good power supply if you are overclocking vishera Love to eat power, but who cares when you have 8 cores.

5 out of 5 eggsRock solid !

Pros: I oc'ed my FX-8350 to 4.5Ghz on air without any issues this board is awesome, it's easy to oc and have a ton of features like the update bios via internet that is awesome, pretty stable too. Love it !

Cons: I own 2 Gigabyte mobo's and they stay at 25C @20C ambiant, but this one is hotter and keep 32C ? Actually it didn't affect anything so nothing to stress with...

Other Thoughts: Great mobo overall, good price vs quality too...

3 out of 5 eggsHas PotentiaL,, Needs Work

Pros: - Lots or "Bells & Whistles
- Nice heatsinks on north, south bridge and vrms
- 12+2 power phase
- Plenty of accessories included in box
- UEFI Bios

Cons: Cons:*
- Northbridge heatsink came out out package with scratches on it.... This was NOT a scratch & dent sale Newegg, or ASRock!

- Board fan headers are in a bad locations. Fan temp control is by fan target speed and cpu target temp only, prefer a real time temp comtrol and fan speed.

- Cannot stabilize vcore on this board, all power saving features turned off, APM off, turbo off, spectrum off, thermal throttle off and have gone thru ALL 6 LLC settings. Vcore "vdrops" even at idle, the LLC settings

either drop vcore by 8-10 volts OR 8-10+ volts. FX 8350 won't mix with the lack of volt control & HEAT. Have somewhat stabilized it but not happy with it, older Asus M5a97 EVo 970 chipset board did a better job.

XBoost feature (press on boot) at default clock shot volts up to 1.68, when i entered Windows, which i quickly shut down.

External drives plugged in hang boot by 30-60 seconds, keyboard goes out halfway thru bios setup and windows boot. USB Legacy settings all tried no difference, Fast boot disabled is suppose to disable booting from

external - no difference, external devices are all disable in bios - no difference, no change unless I unplug external drives.

- ASRocks Extreme Tuner Utility is buggy, crashes out windows just starting program a few times. Fan control readings are slow to respond, sometimes reports 0 RPM. Any minor volt change I lose aero 7 transparency theme

and display driver crashes out. . Creates problems just opening program at stock defaults. (CORSAIR HX750 psu)

Other Thoughts: Other thoughts:
ASRock do really thoroughly test these boards? Keep in mind Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit just installed, windows updates all appiled and Eset Nod Anti Virus along with ASRocks software is it on this pc right now. Along

with a Asus GTX 660 TI latest driver. Fancy box must of cost $30 in production at least, how bout a finish product ASRock? "Overclocking board"? Not from what I have experienced so far. I read all over the "FX 8350 goes well with as 990FX motherboard with 8+2 power phase, Extreme9 has 12+2. Don't believe everything you read, the older 970 board handled the FX 8350 just fine, or at least better than this one. This one needs a good Bio's update fast, but it is current.

I'll give it one more week,, then send it back for an exchange for another board other than ASRock.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect

Pros: So far i have had zero issues. It looks awesome. It runs without problem. Windows boots with a standard 500gb hdd in about 20 seconds or less. All i had to do is plug gpu, cpu, psu, ram and bam it was up and running.

Cons: Prolly just my case but the front audio port is on the bottom almost all the way to the left so i cant plug them in...i never use them anyway tho.

Other Thoughts: Buy it, DOA boards happen and always remember more people will post bad reviews than good, the people that got good boards are busy playing or working =]

1 out of 5 eggs1st board DOA

Pros: Plenty of features, but what good are all of the features when the motherboard wont POST?

Cons: Board arrived DOA. System powers up, fans spin, but no debug lights. Reset BIOS, reseated CPU, RAM, vidcard, and power connectors, no improvement. I pulled the new FX 8350 CPU purchased with this board out, and put in the Phenom II X3 740 that I was upgrading from. I also pulled the RAM from slots A2 and B2. System POSTed a couple of times after this and booted into Windows. I also attempted to update the BIOS from the feature within the BIOS while I had it running, but BIOS was reported to be up to date. I shut down, removed power and put the RAM back in slots A2 and B2...motherboard went back to not POSTing and would not POST again with any RAM configuration or other known good RAM. I gave up, put my old ASUS M4N75TD motherboard back in, with same parts that had migrated to the new ASRock board...works like a charm. The parts that were migrated are definitely not at fault. The problem here is definitely a bad ASRock board.

Other Thoughts: Since I was unable to see the system POST with the FX-8350, I wonder i the CPU is bad too. Unfortunately I can't drop that CPU into the ASUS M4N75TD to test it due to lack of CPU support for Bulldozer or Piledriver.
