4 out of 5 eggsGreat board for 775 to 771 Mod

Pros: supports 775 to 771 Xeon Mod
Great if you have a spare Xeon X, or Core 2/Quad

Cons: Nothing special about the performance

Other Thoughts: I've got two of these, both running Xeon S5450 3.00GHz chips with the 775 to 771 mod. One is used as an office PC and the other is for Office/Secondary Gaming PC (for player2!). These boards are stable, but just not high performers.. Both are running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit with SSD's so they are plenty fast. If you just need a good board on a budget AND you already have a spare Xeon X series or Core 2/Quad laying around, this is a great option.

However, if you're going to buy a proc and memory too, I would strongly suggest looking at the cheaper 1155 and 1156 boards in combination with a G series Processor... For the same price range, you will get higher performance and upgradability.

2 out of 5 eggsGood luck trying to find working RAM memory...

Pros: Runs ok IF you can find compatible memory. Can use the super cheap Intel Core 2 Duo processors that are available today. With an SSD, these can be pretty speedy little systems.

Cons: I have owned a computer repair shop for 9 years. We've used 10-12 of these boards over the past year to build budget based systems for some of our customers. These boards run pretty well if you can find RAM memory that actually works in them, but its VERY difficult to find.

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product

Pros: This is great product had ordered it since my old motherboard had died and the rest of the PC still ran well. Its been running really well for the last few months and i also upgraded my old ddr2 rams to ddr3. Its a really good product.

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: Just so others know you cannot run both ddr2 and ddr3 rams at the same time.

1 out of 5 eggsTerrible 30 day return policy

Pros: None really, did get a chance to see the board work since it was DOA

Cons: The board was DOA. When I received the board I wasn't able to install it immediately since I was then sent oversees for a 4 month assignment. When I returned I installed the board and that's when I saw that the board was no good. The board wasn't even receiving any power when plugged in. Since Newegg return policy is limited to only 30 days I can't return the defective board. I am disappointed since it's a grand new board.

4 out of 5 eggsGood choice for an older socket motherboard

Pros: Needed a LGA775 compatible MB to build a new linux-based PC from leftover parts of a dead Dell XPS.
These boards are becoming rarer and rarer, to the point that at the moment of this review (July 2014) there are only two LGA775 boards on Newegg, both from AsRock. Took a chance and bought it, even with the seemingly numerous negative reviews.
Received it, installed it, and finally, glad I took the chance.
A simple, honest MB that does what its supposed to without anything special.
System booted up perfectly, all connections working, and had no issue whatsoever.
Pros:
- Easy setup
- Appreciate the possibility to use DDR2 or DDR3.
- No-Frill No-Hassle MB; just does what it's supposed to do.
- A rare, hard-to-find LGA775 compatible motherboard.

Cons: Altough everything works, it just feels... light. Compared to other motherboards I have worked with, this one definitely seems lower-end, but considering the target market (older PC's) it's understandable.
Yes, as others have stated, all the MB connections are weirdly placed; my chassis fan is on the other side of the connection for it, several required connectors are way too close to the PCI Express slot, to the point where I was afraid I wouldn't be able to install my GTX 550ti, but in the end everything worked out okay.
Last but not least, only one year warranty, while other manufacturers (Asus, MSI, etc.) offer three-year warranties on their motherboards.

Other Thoughts: All in all, considering the very limited selection of MB's in this category, this does a good job, and I managed to build a new PC with it while salvaging most parts from an old Dell XPS system.
Would buy again, since it does exactly what it's supposed to.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Does its job, decent for a low quality computer, and works well under decent video games

Cons: slow sata drives, old model, and drivers are the only drivers for that board. couldnt find new drivers to fit the board that actually worked, so if there is a probem, you have to reinstallalmost the whole OS it felt like.

Other Thoughts: its an ok board but it has some flaws. Does what its intended to do and thats good enough for me

5 out of 5 eggsSo far so good

Pros: I am installing the OS as I type this on my other pc, seems to be working so far! Lga775, ddr2 or ddr3, good price, shipped super fast, I'm able to use some parts from retired computers to build a budget gamer for my son!

Cons: My only pet peeve is that the fan connectors are right in the way of my gpu. small thing i guess in the scheme of things. The placement of the 24 and 4 pin connectors does seem a little odd but i was able to plug everything in so i guess its not too bad.

Other Thoughts: I did read every single review about this board. I was a little leary about buying it but since I've always had luck with ASRock I figured what the heck. the system in question is:
intel e6300
evga gtx460
thermaltake 600watt psu
8gb ddr3 pny ram (had it laying around)
kingston v300 120gb ssd

1 out of 5 eggshard to configure memory

Pros: dual memory types.

Cons: had two of these motherboards, first one returned as it had defective pins in the cpu mount. stuff happens, refund issued not a big deal. second one ordered (didn't want to wait for RMA) also bought 2x4GB 1066 memory as it stated that it was compatible..... not so much, also had just bought 4GB 1333 frequency memory stick (also said was compatible just have to change a jumper setting on the motherboard) ...... not so much. had a 4GB 1600 frequency stick of memory which is not supposed to be supported..... and that's the one that works. so now I don't have enough memory of the frequency that works so I have to order more. this board is not for the faint of heart or someone who doesn't have access to a lot of different memory sticks.

Other Thoughts: .... the cpu I am using with this build is a 1333 quad core. which is supposed to be compatible with all the memory listed above except 1600.... go figure

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
Mainboard should work most on the memory on the market.
