5 out of 5 eggsa decent replacement

Pros: I recently had my evga 790i ultra motherboard go out on me for wonderful FF boot code after 3-4 years. Supported my previous system components with little to no tweaking.

Cons: Definitely not a gaming rig, some possible issues with bottle necking memory speed.

4 out of 5 eggsNice legacy board, sort of ...

Pros: LGA 775 cpu support with DDR2 and DDR3. Connections for legacy devices: EIDE, floppy, parallel, serial. It works with every DDR2-800 (2 x 2GB) I threw in there: PNY, G.Skill, Corsair, Mushkin. See below for DDR3. Ability to overclock is nice if your CPU can handle it.

Cons: CPU fan connector hard to reach if you have PSU power cables already connected, maybe bad engineering design. None of the DDR3-1600 (2 X 4GB) worked with this board: G.Skill, Corsair, Kingston HyperX. Apparently looking through other posts, DDR3 memory problems seem to be common.
I would not recommend to buy DDR3-1066 if you have a bunch of DDR2-800 to use instead. Chances are you are not going to notice major improvements with this motherboard.

Other Thoughts: I had a few old components around and decided to re-use them: Intel E6850, E8400, 500GB EIDE, bunch of DDR2-800, etc.
The DDR3 was for a new built later, and since I have them at the moment, I decided to test them as well.

3 out of 5 eggsNot bad. Except for the Ram!

Pros: Simple board.Has overclocking abilities. Had a spare Intel Xeon laying around. Socket 775 with a successful LGA 771 mod! Running an Intel Xeon 5440. Seems to be running just fine. Has both DDR2 and DDR3 support. No big problems with it so far.

My system specs:
Intel Xeon 5440 lga 771 mod
4gb( 2x2gb) of mysterious DDR2 1066 mhz ram I had laying around
500gb seagate hdd
PNY Gtx650 2gb edition

Runs Crysis 1 And 2 on high/very high
Tera Maxed
Vindictus Maxed
Splinter Cell Blacklist Maxed
Blade and Soul Maxed
Phantasy Star Online 2 Maxed
Aura Kingdom Maxed
Left For Dead 2 Maxed
And have yet to try Titanfall as server's are down.

Cons: Only accepts some ram unfortunately. Seeing that it has support for up to 8gb of ddr3 ram oc 1333mhz, I was quite disappointed to find that I'm not the only one having this problem. In hopes of upgrading my ram, I went out and purchased 8gb of Hyperx Blu 1333mhz ram. ( 2x4gb). Set the jumper as the manual states, made sure the processor is compatible and inserted the new ram. No video on boot when HyperX replaced the ddr2 ram. Boots fine with my mystery ram however. Maybe I'm missing a step? Read in another review that the graphics card must be removed first before installing any new ram. So I plan to try this as soon as I finish testing if the ram I received is defective first. Don't see the point in making a motherboard that's only capable of handling certain types of Ram but marketing it as a superfast overcloking mobo (Supports ASRock XFast RAM, XFast LAN, XFast USB Technologies) A very Bitter-sweet motherboard.

Will update on ram progress soon.

Other Thoughts: For a cheap board, Its not bad at all, but it hasn't exactly amazed me in the time I've owned it. Could have gotten something better for the price. But I bought this in hopes of reviving spare computer parts, which it did.

5 out of 5 eggsnot bad for the price

Pros: awesome board. Very easy to install just follow the directions. I got this to replace an old intel hp board. Much better than the OEM one for sure.

Cons: None really,
The bios needs to be explained more in the manual. For now Google helps a lot

Other Thoughts: Get a good cpu cooler. So far it is running awesome but if it dies I will be back and let you all know why it died but I doubt I will have to cause I got QUALITY here people. Read the manual and Google what you don't under stand.

3 out of 5 eggsrequires IDE HDD

Pros: Average board to old use an old core 2 duo blended with newer features.

Cons: Have not been able to boot from a SATA HDD/SSD. I'm guessing it requires an IDE HDD to load an OS. Havent heard back from tech support yet to find out if this is the case. Found a cheap refurb IDE drive on newegg to save some time.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
Mainboard boots either SSD or IDE drive.
Please check the SATA drive has detected by mainboard at BIOS, Advanced, Storage Configuration.
Install the OS if it SATA drive is detected.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat mother borad no problems

Pros: Needed a motherboard to install an older CPU ,, I used a e8300 cpu that I had ,, , i did not want to waist money buying a newer cpu like socket 1150 or 1155 and I like the fact it uses ddr2 and ddr3 memory tried both booted right up,, ,,Worth the money, and cheap at that.,, all my computers I build ,, I always use after market cpu fans ,,I buy the cooler master ones,,

Cons: none that I can think of

Other Thoughts: I see people are have problems with the onboard video card dieing so far mine has worked great ,, I tried ddr2 and ddr3 both worked great,, I saw another review saying it had randomly fails at boot ,, mine booted right up after installing my os,with no problems ,, I would buy this motherboard again and recommend this motherboard to my friends

3 out of 5 eggsAPC RBC7 better be brand new

Pros: The first battery or two that I have used were fairly long lasting and brand new. They lived up to their 3-5 years usage, more or less.

Cons: The last battery died within two years under the 3-5 years period of life.

Other Thoughts: The battery just ordered best be brand new or else, back it goes to newegg for a replacement or a refund if the replacement is not brand new.

1 out of 5 eggsONLY LIKES SOME RAM

Pros: Cheap

Cons: Doesn't recognize Kingston HyperX XMP Blu Red Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 Desktop Memory Model KHX16C9B1RK2/8X, and when I say doesn't recognize, I mean the computer motherboard will not POST or beep to indicate faulty RAM.
Doesn't beep when it POSTs with PC Speaker Connected
Bad support from ASRock. I was advised to try a new CPU, which I did and spent $42 only to have it NOT fix the problem, because the problem was incompatible RAM. This isn't ASRock's fault, but it's not mentioned anywhere in the product specs. ASRock rep told me I should have used better RAM, and that I purchased a low end motherboard. Really?!?

Other Thoughts: The board did POST with a 1GB Hynix DDR2 stick and I now have replacement RAM on the way that I HOPE will be compatible. It's G-Skill, which is what their tech support rep advised.

I've used ASRock boards in the past but after this experience with them wasting my time and money and disparaging against Kingston RAM stating that it's "low end cheap RAM," I won't be buying one of their boards again.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Motherboard

Pros: Needed a motherboard to install an older CPU for a friend who doesn't need much in the way of processing power. The addition of both DDR2/DDR3 slots is a nice feature. This motherboard is compatible with a wide range of CPUs and RAM.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: The speed of RAM you would use is determined by your FSB, so keep that in mind if ordering RAM alongside this product.
