1 out of 5 eggsDisappointment and a half

Pros: I bought this back when it was one of the highest rated boards on the market. My father passed away and left me a paltry sum of money and I did what any sensible grieving individual would do... I built a computer. 32gb ripjaws Ram, 4gb gtx 680 best video card at the time, Amd Vishera, SSD's for days, an h100i, platinum corsair 850w psu, and a rosewill throne case. After a month this board started crapping out on me. I had no clue though, I thought it was just bad drivers. I've had an extremely busy and hectic life so motherboard diagnostics went on the back burner for a year.
It ran really hot, but I thought it was my other components generating all the heat, so I installed more fans, and a water cooling system it crashed less.

Every week it would give me a different BSOD, until it was every 3-4 days, then every 2 days. I tried removing Ram sticks, putting them in one by one and running memtests but all clear. I tried taking out the video card, still crashes. I replaced the thermal paste on my cpu, nope. After quite sometime I had a brief moment of alleviation as the board stopped crashing for an entire month. I thought I found that culprit (a bad non MoBo driver). Of course, this wasn't actually the case. My PC just was crashing in the middle of the night when I was sleeping. I never noticed as I close all programs and put it on sleep mode when not in use. Recently, it started actually freezing, getting 12 different types of BSODs, and sometimes it wouldn't even give me a BSOD at all. No matter what I was doing this thing would crash. It became annoying as hell as I stream and have started to gain a following on Twitch.

I then looked up my old order and checked out the reviews here to my horror. When I bought this board it had 100% positive rating all 5 eggs.
Look at it now... I checked other sites with the same result. Lots of faulty boards.
I finally checked the board out and yeah, it's no good. I'm surprised it even runs at all.

ASRock, I've never contacted you because I bought this board in late 2013, I'm sure I'm out of warranty. Also, I really had no freaking clue it was actually the motherboard. I don't work as a tech and I take care of my entire household via cooking, cleaning, chores, house repairs, etc...

I will never spend a single dollar on the ASRock brand again. I've had compaq and gateway pcs that have given me less headache and have lasted longer. Now I'm going to have to search for a reliable board that can support my build. There goes my viewer fan base. Thanks a lot ASRock!

Cons: Faulty as hell
Is sneaky about BSODs
Crashes constantly
Freezes constantly
Nags at you constantly, Berates you, makes you feel worthless... Oh wait, that's my fiancé... The board is actually worse than that! At least my fiancé WORKS !!

Other Thoughts: Never ever again.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome for first build!

Pros: I bought this for my first PC build and it's running great! I've had no issues with it at all-none worth mentioning that is. It's definitely a good buy if you're looking for some good customization but not looking to spend tons of money!

Cons: The only issue that I have had thus far is that sometimes putting memory in it can be a bit of a hassle, but I've never been to fond of doing that so no eggs lost here.

Other Thoughts: The only thing I do have to say is that I have not yet used the X-Boost feature to auto overclock the CPU. Most people that would be interested in doing this would probably be looking for a higher end motherboard anyway.

4 out of 5 eggsASRock comes through

Pros: Good Looks
Easy Installation
GUI BIOS - easy to Navigate
Plenty of SATA and USB options

Cons: Over Clocking tools for Windows OS for changing Speed via OS interface is a bit clunky and slow to establish, then doesn't always work well.

Other Thoughts: All in all a great board for a budget build. I typically stay away from ASRock due to some previous misfortune when trying to save a few dollars with them...but after about 6 years of not using an ASRock Board, I can safely say that this was pleasant and quite rewarding bang for the buck on this board.

It is not as good as the ASUS board, but if you are on a tight budget for a gaming build, this Mobo will fit the bill quite nicely and save precious dollars for the Video Card without sacrificing future upgrade paths or limiting potential of current hardware.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: Great specs

Cons: After building, fans and lights come on but no video. Swapped memory, GPU, everything. It seems I'm not the first either.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
Please trouble shoot the mainboard whether the issue is resolved.

• Unplug the ATX power, remove all components from mainboard.
• Remove the mainboard from chassis, place it on mainboard’s box.
• Clear the CMOS.
• Reseat the CPU and heatsink fan.
• Test with single memory module (non-ECC, un-buffered).
• Reseat video card firmly and 6+6 PCIE power (if applied).
• Connect the monitor.
• Plug the 24 + 8 or 4 pins ATX power.
• Connect the chassis power switch to mainboard, and try again.

1 out of 5 eggsUnreliable

Pros: It'd be great if it worked

Cons: Died completely after 6 months and was giving me intermittent problems before that. No diagnostic beeping to help. Replacement is more stable, but now the USB 3.0 isn't working, randomly disconnecting and reconnecting the drives installed to it.

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsLinux stable as hell, Windows not so much

Pros: This board has many features, including sensors, five fan connectors, plenty of USB connectors and it is manufactured very well.

In Linux, I have never had any crashes or instability. All the sensors can be read using a custom mainline Kernel. I have enabled all of the sensors.

Cons: The only CON is that people refuse to give up Windows on their desktop. Windows does the BSOD, both Windows 7 64bit and Windows 8. Every test in Linux indicates the motherboard, CPU and RAM are fine.

Con of the motherboard? Unlikely. Con of Microsoft OS? Probably.

Other Thoughts: My old board (Biostar) and AMD CPU also had the BSOD. I tried different Windows versions, same thing. Old AMD was Zambezi and new one is Vishera.

5 out of 5 eggsthis board rocks

Pros: I love this board it has so many options, and the 3 5x express is bad to the bone, I have always used Asuse or gigabyte boards, but I thought I would try this one, and it totally blows the comptetions off the maps, and yes it runs the AMD 6 core Cpus with any issues.

Cons: none

1 out of 5 eggsBlue Screens of Death

Pros: It seems like a fine motherboard for the price

Cons: Certain actions cause the blue screen of death. Included actions are streaming online video from Hulu or crunchyroll, installing the USB drivers off of the included CD, and occasional crashing at random. At times, things run fine for a few days if I avoid internet streaming.

Manufacturer Response:

4 out of 5 eggsSuperb for the price

Pros: -Comfortable UEFI UI.
-Many options to explore
-OS boots in no time; Thank you UEFI.
-Ideal for budget build

Cons: -Flimsy PCI-e locks, both of which are broken after a year of use.

-Very skimpy on the screws.

Other Thoughts: Aside from the fact that my GPU hangs to it's pending doom, it's a great motherboard. No complaints. I've been running this build for over a year now, and have thrown everything at it. Nothing fried out, even after GPU falling out whilst in operation. 4/5 would buy again.

2 out of 5 eggsNot worth it...

Pros: Cheap

Cons: Will break after a couple of months

Other Thoughts: Better to waste 10-20 bucks more to get a ASUS or MSI motherboard
