2 out of 5 eggsPower management issues

Pros: The board seems to be quality made with a nice layout and solid packaging.

Cons: I had nothing but trouble trying to get Windows 7 to sleep and wake up properly. Three clean Windows installs, three different AMD chipset driver versions, and some BIOS tweaking and nothing helped. This was using known good CPU and memory. I gave up and returned it.

Other Thoughts: I had to pay to return ship a faulty product. Why?

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize that you having difficulty with mainboard.
For the sleep mode issue, please turn the power off.
Clear the CMOS.
Set the UEFI BIOS default.
Remove all external devices including printer, HDD, etc. and see if it's solve the issue.
Install fresh Windows with mainboard drivers to test immediately before installing other applications/software.

5 out of 5 eggsCan't beat the features at this price.

Pros: * All of the features.
* Price point.
* Easy to use if you're tech savvy.
* Instant Boot is rad.
* UEFI BIOS

Cons: * Lacking user manual.
* Doesn't ship with newest BIOS even though the board has been out for quite some time.

Other Thoughts: So the first board actually arrived DOA. It was very strange, power was clearly going to the board, fans and PSU powered up, but no display. No beep error codes either. All components were verified as compatible with all BIOS versions with an ASRock Rep on the phone before purchase (very nice, knowledgeable, and helpful folks). Sent the board back to Newegg for a replacement. The replacement arrived even faster than the original DOA board. Slapped all of the components onto the new board and it fired right up without a hitch. Quicky OS repair, and I'm up and running even on my RAID array. Not Newegg's fault the first board was DOA so I'm not faulting them for that. I won't even fault ASRock. Working in this industry with a BA in Computer Science, I just understand that even the best Quality Control methods are never perfect. DOA computer components happen from time to time with all manufacturers (no matter who it is). Overall I am very happy. I even got a 15% OC increase out of my CPU and GPU by just upgrading to this board. Slight noticeable performance increase in the games I like to play (World of Warcraft and League of Legends).

5 out of 5 eggsStill works for me. :D

Pros: I have had this motherboard for a long time now (since December 2013) and I haven't had and issues at all. I upgraded my motherboard to this one, and was worried about every aspect of my first motherboard upgrade. The reviews didn't help either. But this guy was not problem to install, or set up. I guess we'll see the final outcome in due time.

Cons: N/A

1 out of 5 eggsWas good while it lasted

Pros: Looks nice in my case

Cons: Died after only 8 months, which isn't a long time for someone who is using it for basic computing.

Other Thoughts: This is my second ASRock board, and the second one to go belly up on me before it's year anniversary. I really want to like the company because before the boards die, they are really nice, but I can't look past the whole "Not even lasting a year" thing.

1 out of 5 eggsGood while it lasted

Pros: Nice, Powerful board
Did what I needed it to

Cons: Died with regular use after around 8 months

Other Thoughts: I doubt I can even do anything about it. Never really did anything to the board, it just decided to die on me last month. The RMA status is directly for distributors, and Newegg doesn't have an RMA policy for this board for anywhere after 30 days. Paid 75 bucks (Plus shipping) and got about 8 months use out of the board

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Gauze,

Sorry to hear that the mainboard has malfunctioned after 8 months which’s due to nature of electronic product, it can happen.
We glad to do the service for the mainboard it it's faulty.

2 out of 5 eggsTerrible Motherboard

Pros: It worked for a day. It looked pretty cool.

Cons: It worked for a day and then it died. I was expecting a little more from it. I went and bought a mobo at a local computer store to make sure it was the mobo that died so now I am returning it to newegg. Maybe someone else will have better luck than me.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

1 out of 5 eggsNot so good

Pros: none

Cons: Motherboard just crashed on me

Other Thoughts: The motherboard was working fine for about 3 months and then it just failed on me. It would not come back on having to ship back to Asrock to replace...

1 out of 5 eggsBSOD Paradise!

Pros: Great Layout - Good Features - Great Price!

Cons: AM3+ issues with Piledriver tech. Not fully supported.
BSOD's for days!
Cant go 3 hours without a freeze or BSOD

Other Thoughts: I purchased this board back in February of this year, I am a Broadband Analyst by trade and my home PC is a must! This was a budget build but had I known these would be the case I would have put out a bit more.

CPU - FX6300
Ram set 1 - G.skill DD3-1333 PC3-10666 4 G sticks X2

Ran Set 2 (Purchased it this weekend) PNY XLR8 8Gb stick -1600 Mhz -Cas 9 - 1.5v - DDR3 PC3 12800

When I received the board I stick a fresh isntal of Windows 8 on it, after contacting Microsoft about various BSOD's they remoted in ran their test for about 5 min and another BSOD issue - logged back in tried again and crash they tried for 3 hours. This is after me trying to reinstall Win 8 3 more times OFC.

So, Windows 7 - installed fine, posted, default UEFI Bios settings - BSOD's or freezes and pretends to be receiving input.

Tuned settings, turned X-boost on - stabile for days with X-boost, but it seems to have an excelorator problem, Games when played are out of sync videos are choppy. Turn X-boost off tand that goes away but so does the stability.

Bios was under volting and does not detect proper timings from both sets of ram. changed to 1.5 V on ram and proper timings (9-9-9-24) and still no resolve.

Extensive ram testing, multiple NEW sticks of ram (I've invested more in new hardware at this point than I would have if I would have purchased new $200 board =x)

needless to say after MONTHS of trial and error, and doing my part in ironing out all possible bugs, its past my return time for new egg, and the flimsy structure on the board and its odd PCI-E clips (Broke on day 1) I now have voided any chance of an RMA with ASRock. AVOID THIS BOARD! Months of work, and still giving me issues...

This board is coming out next pay period and I will never buy anything from ASRock again..

Oh and customer service / Tech support from them - It's non exsistant.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
For the BSOD, please download and update the latest BIOS at " http://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/970%20Pro3%20R2.0/?cat=Download&os=BIOS " .
Set the UEFI BIOS default.
Test with single memory module on A1 or A2 slot, switching another memory if its same issue.
Check the CPU is not overheating.
If you have any technical issues please contact us at http://www.ASRock.com/support/tsd.asp. We will assist you shortly.
